Chapter 289 Increased perceived Value
Chapter 289 Increased perceived Value
By some stroke of coincidence, Minnie and her eleven other witches managed to make it to a hill.
This was the same hill that Lenny had carved a hole in to receive punishment.
On arriving, Minnie dropped Athena from her shoulder to the ground.
Athena had already woken up some time ago.
However, she continued to pretend to be passed out out of fear of the other witches, who continually looked at her like she was lunch.
She just didn’t want to draw unnecessary attention to herself any more than she already did.
However, the jig was up once she was thrown to the ground.
Half-borns had incredible recovery abilities. .𝚌o𝚖
An ability that only got stronger with an increase in strength.
As she was already a rank 1 lesser Demon, it was very fast.
Her shoulder was almost completely healed, and a part of her was very tempted to already plot an escape.
However, she was surrounded on all sides.
Athena was not so foolish to believe that she could escape these Witches with her legs.
At least Minnie’s teleportation ability alone was an incredible deterrent.
Athena was not sure how far she could go, but she was not willing to test it.
At least not yet. And Besides, she really wanted payback from Lenny for what he did to her.
Minnie stepped forward into the cave.
Her fingers brushing against the clean-cut cave in
She sniffed a bit.
“Oh! He was definitely here.”
“Sister!” One of them called to her.
Minnie turned in her direction.
They were ashes on the ground.
These were ashes from the time he burned all of the bodies of the ghouls that attacked him.
Minnie went to the ashes, some of which were still smoking.
“Was it a campfire?”
Minnie looked around, and then she shook her head.
“No, it can’t be. It’s too spread out. There are some there, and there are some over there too. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say it was an attack.”
“Hmmm!” She nodded as she stepped back a bit and then some more, trying to get the totality of the picture.
“So he came out of that cave. He seemed to have been attacked, or rather, disturbed.”
“Is he dead?” One of the Witches asked
“Hmmm, I doubt that!” Minnie shook her head.
Meanwhile, one of the Witches, the one that had nagged earlier about not getting to eat Athena, squatted low at one of the ashes.
It still had a very low flame when she shook it with a finger.
“Ouch!” She immediately removed her hand.
However, this drew Minnie’s attention.
She immediately teleported before the witch, “Come on, let me see it.”
Shyly, the Witch presented her hand.
Not just Minnie, but also the other witches, were surprised.
These were burn marks.
The reason for the surprise was because, with the kind of ability they had and the magic they cultivated, harm was not a word easily attributed to them.
After all, all of them had at least one body part that was from the Nether.
The fact that she could be hurt was a testament that this still-burning ash was anything but normal.
Minnie took another look at the ash.
She outright placed a hand inside it.
~~Tissshhh~~
A slight sizzling sound was heard.
“This is…”
“Holy flames!?” The big, buff witch completed Minnie’s words.
Minnie nodded. “It would seem like it’s our lucky day, girls. We have one that might have been touched. With meat like that, even if Cuban were paying triple, it wouldn’t be enough.”
The big buff witch nodded, “Yes! That idiot did not know what he had and lost it like a child.”
Aside from these two, Athena noticed that the others did not understand what was going on.
Athena herself did not understand. She always thought that Lenny’s ability was just any other special ability from the Arena.
However, these women were saying that a bounty of more than a hundred Half-borns was not compared to the value Lenny had.
“Sister, what do you mean?” The Witch with the spider eyes asked
Minnie smiled at her as she explained.
“In the beginning, there were two of Primordial origin, One dark and the other Light. Neither could truly survive without the other. And yet, both were at constant war with each other.
“From them came the Feathered ones from above and the hooved ones from below. These entities inherited their parental conflicts and therefore divided the world and existence. They, too, blessed others with their powers. However, the lower the pyramid of power, the more diluted it is. Trust me, sister, we are too far down that ladder. However, from the looks of things, this Lenny Tales has a purity of power far above ours. Even if it is of a different affinity, eating his flesh could directly “Let me advance to the elder witch.”
“HUH!?” All the witches gasped at this.
They could not believe what they had just heard.
A direct advance was a very big deal.
A witch’s advance from one level of power to another was as hard as climbing from the earth to the sky with a ladder made out of toothpicks.
Athena did not know what this was about, but she understood from Minnie’s salivation that she was very excited about finding Lenny.
Minnie suddenly turned to her. Before Athena could blink, Minnie had already lifted her into the air by the neck.
“You! Do that thing again. Find him!”
Athena coughed a bit as she struggled.
“I… I can’t. I haven’t rested well enough. I haven’t healed well.”
Minnie’s tongue licked Athena’s face.
She frowned. “True!”
Minnie let her go.
“How long do you need?”
“At least a day!”
“Not enough!”
She turned to the Witches.
“Split up in teams of two and search the area. I WANT him now!”
Instantly, the Witches acted. Some changed into giant creatures, some grew wings, and one even turned into a little insect as they all dispersed in different directions…
