Deviant Kings: Claimed by The Four Lycan Kings
Chapter 83: Betrayed The Lycans
Adeline’s pov~
"You actually believe these stupid trap messages?" Zyran growled, the vibration of his chest pressing into mine. "Don’t tell me you were out here trying to sneak past the academy walls just to meet this bastard outside!"
"It is none of your business," I spat sharply, lifting my chin to glare at him. "Let go of my hands right now before I scream and make a huge scene."
Zryan’s lips curved into a wicked, knowing smirk. His crushing grip on my wrists loosened just a fraction, holding me gently but firmly against the wall.
"You wouldn’t do that," he whispered confidently, leaning in until his breath brushed my ear.
"You know better than anyone else that you aren’t supposed to be wandering this wing at midnight. You definitely don’t want anyone finding out you were about to sneak out of the academy by tricking the border guards without royal permission. You don’t want that kind of attention... The second you scream, the guards rush in, and you’re the one getting thrown right back into the dark cells. So you won’t scream, sweetheart."
My jaw tightened, the bitter taste of defeat settling on my tongue.
Damn him.
He was absolutely, fucking right.
I couldn’t scream.
It would instantly alert the guards.
Who knows? In a fraction of a second, I would become a rogue spy or worse.
Zyran smoothly slid my phone into his own pocket and looked back down at me.
His pitch-black eyes moved slowly over my face, scanning every inch of my defiance while his hand held my wrist in a firm, inescapable grip.
"Give me back my phone, Zyran," I demanded, straining against his hold as my pulse hammered against my skin. "You have no right to take my personal belongings."
"So let me guess how this played out," Zyran said, completely ignoring my demand as if I hadn’t spoken at all.
"You were trying to sneak out of the academy, someone spotted you on the way, and that’s the real reason you shoved yourself against me and hid in here... right? You were running from the guards or from other alphas, right? So, what now?"
He didn’t let me speak. His eyes turned dark, furious as he spoke. "Answer me, Adeline. Are you still planning on going out there to meet whoever sent that text?"
I clenched my jaw, dropping my gaze to his chest. "No. I am not going."
Zyran slowly nodded, his dark eyes searching mine. "Raven said you were desperate to find out about your birth parents... Didn’t know you were blind enough not to realise these were trap messages."
My blood ran ice cold.
Raven told them? Did he tell all of them everything he knows about me? Am I just a topic of discussion among the four Lycan Kings now? Do they seriously have nothing better to do than dissect my completely fucked-up life behind closed doors?
"What I do is none of your business, Lord Zyran," I spat as I strained against his crushing hold. "I certainly don’t need to explain every single move I make to you. Now let go of my hands, for Goddess’s sake—"
"Fine, let’s go," he cut me off smoothly.
"What??—"
"Well, I am not fucking letting you go alone," Zyran growled, finally letting go of my wrists and stepping back just an inch.
"You want answers about your bloodline, Adeline? Then we step out those gates together. You get your answers, and I keep you breathing. You don’t get a choice in this. We walk out together, or I drag you back to your dorm. Just because of your stupidity, I won’t risk your life... I am coming with you!"
"But I am not going," I said flatly.
Zyran arched a single eyebrow, his eyes fixed on mine. "Why not? That is why you have risked life and come so far. So why not step out and see the fucker who is waiting outside for you?"
"Because at first I really wanted to get out of these walls to meet the person," I said, my chest heaving as the grim reality of the night finally crashed down on me. "But then I met the person who ordered my hit that night, and I heard them talk about their next moves... and now I am starting to think this is also a trap set by them."
"Just fucking tell me who that person is?" Zyran growled.
I forced my gaze down, fixing it firmly on the centre of his chest. Zyran took a step closer again.
"You searched through the restricted archives last night the second Keiran turned his back," he said, his tone chillingly calm. "So tell me, Adeline... what did you find in those records?"
I froze.
What? Keiran knows? He knew I was searching the records the whole time? He just watched me risk my life pulling forbidden files, and he just... let me?
Goddess... just strike me down right now. Just open the earth and bury me alive.
The embarrassment and terror mixed into a hot, sickening knot in my stomach. I felt completely exposed, like a pawn who thought she was playing a clever game, utterly oblivious to the fact that the kings were just watching her move around the board for their own amusement.
"Raven said you know nothing about your birth parents," Zyran continued, his hand reaching out, his long fingers gently catching my chin to tilt my face back up to his.
"He thinks you’re just a clueless girl chasing ghost stories. But something tells me he’s wrong. You must have known something about your parents before you even walked into those archives, didn’t you? You didn’t just guess where to look."
His face lingering mere inches from mine.
"Stop keeping secrets from me," Zyran growled.
He was right. I had deliberately hidden everything about my parents’ names from Raven. I did it because I literally didn’t know who they were.
The Crescent Pack raised me with the constant, cruel reminder that my parents were absolute traitors to the pack. Every single beatdown, every harsh task, and every spit-filled insult came with the same repeating message: Your blood is filthy. Your parents are lowlife wolves who messed with someone they never should have touched if they wanted to stay alive.
And I heard it from the Luna of the Crescent pack.
Selena.
That my parents betrayed the Lycans.
Slipped up once to me and immediately brushed it off. As if she didn’t want me to know what happened to my parents. She deliberately hid it.
The next words that left Zyran’s mouth left me stunned, and my heart dropped into my stomach.
