Desolate Devouring Art

Chapter 1925 - Seventh-Level Spirit Immortal Realm

  • Next Chapter

The instant the left hammer missed, Chen Kun channeled every ounce of strength into the right one. His laws guided the weapon forward like a blazing meteor, dragging a long trail of fire across the sky.

"Die, Liu Wuxie!" Chen Kun roared, utterly convinced that no one could survive this strike.

The moment his roar rang out, the hammer's speed instantly doubled, making it twice as fast as the first.

Liu Wuxie still stood at the critical juncture of his breakthrough. He had destroyed the gateway to the seventh-level Spirit Immortal Realm, but his new cultivation had yet to stabilize completely.

Then Liu Wuxie performed a move that everyone present would remember for the rest of their lives. Rather than retaliating or trying to escape, he abruptly crouched beneath the incoming attack.

Chen Kun's eyes narrowed the instant Liu Wuxie dropped. Helpless to stop what followed, he watched the hammer skim across Liu Wuxie's scalp and crash into the distant ground. Everything had unfolded too quickly, and the distance between them had been far too short. By the time Chen Kun tried to force the hammer downward, his opportunity had already passed.

The spectators felt their scalps prickle with numbness. None could understand how Liu Wuxie had predicted the hammers' trajectories with such precision, evading both weapons by the narrowest possible margin. An error of even one inch would have let the hammer strike and pulverize him.

Yet the world offered no room for "ifs."

Before countless stunned eyes, Liu Wuxie slowly straightened. The two missed attacks had granted him enough time to finish his breakthrough and reach the pinnacle of the seventh-level Spirit Immortal Realm.

As Chen Kun watched him rise, an inexplicable sense of danger crept into his heart.

The breakthrough had completely transformed Liu Wuxie. His aura, gaze, and soul energy had all undergone a fundamental change. This was the chasm separating the intermediate and late phases of the Spirit Immortal Realm.

After reaching the seventh-level Spirit Immortal Realm, Liu Wuxie's chances of advancing into the Profound Immortal Realm also rose significantly.

"Damn it! Damn everything! How could even that fail to kill him?!" Elder Gu raged. The surrounding spectators also couldn't accept the outcome, scarcely believing what they had witnessed.

"City Lord Ye, that son-in-law of yours is anything but simple," Xiang Zicheng said to Ye Guhan. The two men had never been acquainted, yet Liu Wuxie had inadvertently brought them together.

Ye Guhan responded with a chuckle. Liu Wuxie and Ye Linghan had not officially confirmed their relationship, but everyone already regarded them as a couple.

A brief silence descended over the arena. Chen Kun then waved his hand, recalled the two hammers, and merged them back into one.

Liu Wuxie drew a deep breath and exhaled gently, creating several vortices in the air before him.

The Yue Clan patriarch's expression changed dramatically. "What terrifying cultivation!" Even ordinary Divine Immortals could not transform a breath into vortices as Liu Wuxie had just done.

The arena had fallen into a deadlock. Chen Kun had failed to kill Liu Wuxie despite battling him for so long, while Liu Wuxie had exploited the confrontation to temper his cultivation and break through to the seventh-level Spirit Immortal Realm. Now that the breakthrough was complete, what hope did Chen Kun still possess?

"Liu Wuxie, I admit you've forced me to reconsider everything I thought about you," Chen Kun said after drawing a deep breath.

He had heard Liu Wuxie's name long ago but had never regarded him seriously. He assumed Liu Wuxie owed all his achievements to nothing more than luck. Only after exchanging blows with him today did Chen Kun finally understand how severely he had underestimated his opponent.

Liu Wuxie raised the Bloodthirst Blade toward the heavens, releasing a mighty blade force.

Several figures appeared high in the distant sky, most likely attracted by the battle below. They made no attempt to approach, merely standing among the clouds. The Golden Immortal Realm aura radiating from them churned the surrounding clouds into violent waves.

"Interesting. A mere Spirit Immortal actually endured the attacks of a seventh-level Origin Immortal Realm expert. Even in the Celestial Weave Domain, someone of his caliber would qualify as a prodigy," a Great Golden Immortal Realm expert remarked.

The newcomers possessed such overwhelming cultivation that even the Divine Immortals on the ground failed to detect them.

Had Liu Wuxie heard the words Celestial Weave Domain, he would have immediately recognized the place they discussed. It ranked among the most prosperous regions in the celestial realm.

The celestial realm divided its world into towns, counties, cities, provinces, and domains. Hundreds of towns formed a county, hundreds of counties formed a city, thousands of cities composed a province, and thousands of provinces stretched across a domain. Some domains even encompassed entire planets within their territory.

That hierarchy alone revealed the staggering immensity of a domain.

The True Martial Continent might have seemed vast, but it remained insignificant beside the Four Astral Domains. Even the enormous Eastern Emperor City occupied less than one-tenth of a province. Such was the celestial realm, a world so immense that its boundaries appeared impossible to perceive.

"Monstrous talent won't change the outcome. He still can't defeat an Origin Immortal," a Golden Immortal said.

He acknowledged Liu Wuxie's extraordinary talent, but no amount of talent could overcome absolute strength.

"I'll wager that the seventh-level Spirit Immortal will be the last one standing," another Golden Immortal replied.

"That's enough. We still need to reach the Divine Steed Manor," the other one said.

A confrontation of this level could scarcely hold their attention. They had paused only because the sight of a Spirit Immortal resisting an Origin Immortal had aroused their curiosity. Even so, they believed Liu Wuxie would ultimately die.

"Senior Brother is right. Immortal Emperor Liu's weapon has appeared at the Divine Steed Manor, and we must obtain it at any cost," the middle-aged man standing between them said. They could not allow such a trivial matter to delay their journey.

"Immortal Emperor Liu self-detonated at the Soul-Severing Cliff, and his weapon, the Asura Blade, detonated with him. I heard it shatter into countless fragments that scattered across the celestial realm. Anyone who obtains even one fragment might comprehend the Immortal Emperor's laws sealed within it," the man on the right added.

The trio vanished as soon as he finished speaking.

Ordinary divine senses could not detect them, but Liu Wuxie's powerful mental energy allowed him to sense several formidable divine senses observing him. His brows knitted immediately. By the time he looked toward the sky, however, those auras had already disappeared.

The Heavenly Dao Book suddenly rustled violently, deepening Liu Wuxie's frown. He could not help wondering whether it had detected something.

Liu Wuxie soon shook his head and discarded the thought, returning his full attention to the battle. The blade force surrounding him intensified while his immortal energy spread through the arena. His laws intertwined, and only now did he reveal his most terrifying state.

"Come and fight!" Liu Wuxie declared.

He sprang forward like a leopard, wielding the Bloodthirst Blade as he appeared before Chen Kun.

"Instant Flash! Mountain Blade! Divine Fire Blade! Marsh Blade!"

Liu Wuxie fused all four forms of the Heavenly Crest Divine Blade Art into a single devastating strike. The four distinct laws within those forms overlapped and blended into perfect unity.

The resulting attack carried the speed of Instant Flash, the crushing force of Mountain Blade, the destructive power of Divine Fire Blade, and the defensive strength of Marsh Blade. It approached perfection. This was the true wonder of the Heavenly Crest Divine Blade Art—each form could stand alone or merge seamlessly with the others.

"What the hell? He actually combined all four forms?!" Even the Divine Immortals exclaimed, their faces overcome with shock.

If Chen Kun lost, no Origin Immortal in Eastern Emperor City could oppose Liu Wuxie. Unless a Divine Immortal personally intervened, Liu Wuxie would stand invincible throughout Eastern Emperor City.

Chen Kun no longer dared behave carelessly. He adopted far greater caution and abandoned the reckless aggression he had displayed earlier. When he brought his hammer down, Liu Wuxie successfully intercepted it with the Bloodthirst Blade.

Sparks exploded from the colliding weapons, and their violent impact generated a powerful shockwave that swept outward. Under the Marsh Blade's influence, rain began pouring from the sky.

The instant their weapons met, Liu Wuxie felt as though the Bloodthirst Blade had struck an immovable wall of iron. The tremendous force sent him flipping backward before he landed in his original spot.

Chen Kun did not move at all. With his cultivation at the pinnacle of the Origin Immortal Realm, the impact barely disturbed him.

"Again!" Liu Wuxie roared.

He no longer needed to fear exhausting his immortal energy, for a vast quantity of liquid remained within the Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron. Moreover, the larval beast's birth had allowed the Desolate World to begin functioning independently and continuously generating immortal energy.

Liu Wuxie attacked again, once more combining all four forms into one strike.

Whenever Chen Kun charged, Liu Wuxie blocked him. Whenever Liu Wuxie retaliated, Chen Kun stopped him. Liu Wuxie transformed into a streak of light and unleashed the combined attack yet again.

By then, the crowd had grown numb to the spectacle. Liu Wuxie's roguish fighting style had forced Chen Kun into an extraordinarily disadvantageous position.

Liu Wuxie evaded every attack Chen Kun launched while using the battle to refine the Divine Ninefold Step further. Chen Kun, by contrast, had no choice but to withstand Liu Wuxie's attacks head-on. He knew his speed could never compare with Liu Wuxie's.

As an expert at the ninth-level Origin Immortal Realm, Chen Kun would suffer unbearable humiliation if he could do nothing except dodge Liu Wuxie's attacks.

No one had kept count, but Liu Wuxie had already unleashed thirty strikes, all of which Chen Kun had blocked. Both men stood in the arena breathing heavily. Chen Kun had expended an enormous amount of immortal energy, while Liu Wuxie had drained roughly seventy percent of his reserves.

Liu Wuxie immediately poured the liquid energy stored within the Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron into the Desolate World, rapidly restoring his immortal energy.

Chen Kun could only swallow a pill and slowly recover his immortal energy. Without the Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron, his recovery speed naturally could not rival Liu Wuxie's.

"What is happening? Why does Liu Wuxie's immortal energy seem limitless? Any ordinary Origin Immortal Realm cultivator would have exhausted their reserves by now."

The surrounding spectators stared in utter bewilderment, unable to understand the phenomenon unfolding before them. Every time Liu Wuxie appeared close to draining his immortal energy, his reserves recovered with astonishing speed.

"It's almost time," Liu Wuxie said, a cold smirk spreading on his lips. His repeated assaults had merely prepared the foundation for what he intended to unleash next.

He charged again with the Bloodthirst Blade, employing the same savage fighting style as before. Frustration nearly consumed Chen Kun, who had never encountered anyone willing to fight with such reckless ferocity.

Had anyone else fought this way, Chen Kun would already have crushed them beneath his hammer. Liu Wuxie, however, remained immune to the suppression of Origin Immortal Realm laws. Despite the enormous gulf separating their cultivation levels, their combat strength had become almost equal.

The Heavenly Dao Book made all of this possible by neutralizing the oppressive aura of Chen Kun's cultivation at the pinnacle of the Origin Immortal Realm.

Their battle continued until the arena lay completely in ruins, forcing Qian Yao to withdraw into the distance. Even the students from both dao halls had become numb from watching and seemed to have forgotten how to speak.

Xiang Rulong and the others roared with excitement. Every increase in Liu Wuxie's strength filled them with greater joy.

"Chen Kun is in danger," the Stormcloud Sect's sect master said. He could sense that Liu Wuxie still concealed additional trump cards, while Chen Kun had already exhausted every method in his arsenal. Yet none of Chen Kun's immortal arts proved effective against Liu Wuxie, who seemed proficient in countless immortal arts and dismantled each one effortlessly.

No one challenged his judgment. Chen Kun had indeed fought for so long without securing victory that his patience had already run out.

"Purgatory Palace!" Liu Wuxie roared as he summoned the Purgatory Palace. Following his breakthrough to the seventh-level Spirit Immortal Realm, the Purgatory Palace had become fully corporeal.
