DesertCraft: Fishing Pocket Heaven
Chapter 125: A Mystery Unraveled!
In times of danger, people may forget their bottom lines and do anything to survive. Even if it’s sacrificing others!
Perhaps a man might’ve pushed a woman out as sacrifice. Perhaps a drowning woman might’ve dragged the man down with her...
But perhaps being stuck together somehow linked their hearts as one.
Faster than the man could react, a handful of stones appeared in the woman’s hand!
The stones went flying and the woman bent over all the way, leaving nothing in his way!
It was only then that a fishing rod appeared in the man’s hands!
Right on cue, the scattered pebbles made noise all over! That godly-timed distraction redirected the ready-to-pounce monster’s first attack towards the rocky tunnel walls!
BAMMM! The loud smash covered up every other sound, which gave Yu Zhiye a brief window to whip out his fishing line!
But the listener was not all ears! It’s a hunter that can think!
One moment it was remodeling the terrain, the next instant, it launched itself down the tunnel towards the original source of the noise!
It seems it would reach the ever-so-close preys in a split second!
But the magic happened in that brief instant.
Like opposite poles of two magnets attracting each other, monster met hook. And then…
The menacing, agile creature suddenly went stiff as if it was subjected to a mysterious binding force!
Even so, its original momentum carried it forward, but every inch closer, it shrunk down more and more…
Until it became nothing more than a little fish swinging on the fishing line’s hook.
A strong, cold draft hit the fisherman’s face covered in cold sweat and after a shiver, the tense fisherman finally relaxed.
“Phew~ close call…”
After wiping away his sweat, Yu Zhiye stared at the rather familiar “sandfish” dangling on his fishing rod and cracked a weak smile. “Haha, so that’s how it is…”
What happened? Was this a plot-armor kill?
Hardly. In fact, all the signs had long been foreshadowed.
Suspicions first started when he saw the globally-announced name of that elite boss he fished up. Death Angel Queen. It’s hard to not draw inferences!
Another critical piece of evidence appeared just earlier today… when he saw firsthand how that merman turned into a so-called creeper fish!
Turns out… his fishing rod was more magical than he imagined!
From that, he already came up with quite the hypothesis about the origins of his “sandfish”.
Now this thrilling big catch confirmed things. Mystery solved.
But he didn’t know if he should be happy or not over this. Knowing more… is that a good thing?
Yu Zhiye poked the little fish with a wry smile. “Hah… this is a crazy world, isn’t it?”
“Tch, crazy or not, can you help me up first, oppa?”
Yu Zhiye looked down at the woman stuck in a very indecent pose and chuckled. “Haha. Noona, you’re quite flexible.”
Feeling the naughty hand in the dark, Chae Yoona cursed in a low voice, “Oppa, quit messing around! I’m not in the mood to stay out here and meet another one of those things!”
Well, she has a point there.
Originally, they wanted to take it outside for some fresh air. This high-up scenic spot was supposed to be safe.
But after experiencing this close shave with death, there’s no way they could clown around out here anymore.
“Hey, fine, fine. We’ll head back inside…”
Yu Zhiye put away his fishing gear and flipped his partner up…
“Woah, our connection is still hard-stuck. Never knew noona could be this tight…”
“Tch! Never knew oppa could be this big. How will you get it out?”
That’s a good question. So he carried her back into the safehouse to find answers to that question.
While the beauty and the beast deeply explored the indescribable answer to a life dilemma, deep in the mountains...
A pair of hand ripped open a hole in the wall of webs…
Glowing eyes scanned over the creepy-crawlies infesting the dark, web-covered cave…
Big and small, all possessing ugly faces that would make even spider enthusiasts throw up...
This nightmarish sight was enough to scare off even the bravest adventurer, yet this intruder stepped right into this danger zone without hesitating for even a second!
Surprisingly, none of the spiders skittering around seemed to notice the intruder! One even crawled right past the figure’s side to go fix the opening in the web!
Somehow, this person walked right through the spider’s nest like it was his own home!
The darkness didn’t stop him nor did the monsters making this place their home…
After a few twists and turns through the webby terrain, a mysteriously-glowing altar finally appeared in sight.
Once the figure approached the altar, the glow finally alighted his features…
It was a teenage face recognized by most back at the base as the most dangerous and mysterious player!
That’s right! This was Song Jinwoo! The regressor!
As somebody living a second life with future knowledge, there’s hardly anything that could affect his hardened heart.
But tonight, this man frowned for the second time.
“Today’s card is gone? Who took it?”
Last life, nobody came close to touching this Spider Nest Altar this early on! It wasn’t until nearly the third month that multiple bases worked together to take down the spider queen...
Wait. That’s right… he already took down that big girl days ago.
With the guardian boss gone, the spider swarms alone wasn’t enough to deter certain daredevils.
It’s wasn’t too surprising that those short-lived ghosts actually dared to take the risky gamble to grab this treasure.
“Heh. To think they’re bold enough to steal from my rice bowl!”
Song Jinwoo sneered inside, but he didn’t care too much about this little loss. Because…
Right at midnight, a new glowing-blue card mysteriously condensed on the empty altar!
That’s right! A random card will respawn on the altar daily! It can be any one of the five types and of any rarity from white to gold!
And unlike extraordinary potions that can’t be randomly drunk, there were almost no negative side effects from using these cards!
That’s the whole reason he squeezed some time out to farm these cards! It’s the same as a free lottery draw every single day! One lucky draw might turn trash into gold!
Though to the current him, the most useful were power enhancement or skill cards, and certain special cards.
Unfortunately, this time, it’s…
“A rare-grade random infantry recruitment card?”
Like blueprints, recruitment cards were restricted to territory lords.
So honestly, such cards weren’t too useful to a barefooted player like him, but it should sell for quite the decent price. Especially later, when those lord-class players start building their armies.
But for now, it’s just another unstackable item taking up inventory space. Good thing he already unlocked plenty.
Since the spider queen’s heart—he was carrying—made the spiders in this nest non-hostile unless attacked, Song Jinwoo easily added the card to his 36-slot inventory grid.
“Tch. Another wasted trip.”
Originally, to save a trip, he scheduled his harvest time right before midnight every other day. Now, he just had to change his schedule a little and come pick up the card before they ever get the chance to!
What? This hoarding behavior is selfish and unbecoming?
Nonsense. Rather than let those parasites waste these resources, better to monopolize it all to support his own growth! After all, only he can save this corrupted world!
“And anybody that dares get in my way… heh!” Just clean their necks and wait!
