Chapter 792: Sin Fusion
Chapter 792: Sin Fusion
Aria’s silver eyes lifted to Kaiden. Her lashes dipped once, slow, the violet threading the silver around her irises framing the full undiluted adoration she was pointing at him.
"Kai..."
The Moon Valkyrie’s beauty had always been dangerous to watch and the fusion had sharpened the edge. Across the feed’s 25 million viewers, the first documented cases of fusion-induced cardiac events entered their respective medical histories.
Luna went next. Purple-white lightning lifted under her skin, condensed at her Stormblade hand and the soles of her feet. A crimson streak lit through one side of her purple hair, red flecks settling into her violet irises as her grin split wide.
[Luna Aster. Storm and Wrath.]
[Storm Calamity.]
"Hell yeah!"
Stormblade snapped into her grip out of nothing. She cut a test swing through the air, and the trail of purple-white lightning that should have followed the edge arrived red instead, the crack of it louder than any swing she had ever taken.
Bastet’s glow was slow and gold, spreading from her ears down the line of her arms to her bare soles. A single gold strand lit through the black of her hair, her amber eyes deepening into pure gold. The stone beneath her feet cracked in one quiet radial.
[Bastet. Dominion and Pride.]
[Divine Dominion.]
The Dominion Valkyrie drew a long lock of black hair forward over her shoulder, considered the single gold strand threading through it, and lifted the whole length to her face for a slow, appraising sniff. Her expression did not move. Her tail betrayed her, curling once behind her in a happy flick the rest of her body was pretending wasn’t happening.
"Hmm... Acceptable, I suppose."
Calypso’s red light came in like a heatwave. Orange streaked through her dark red hair, the same color rimming her pupils. Her grin got meaner, and the axe handle groaned in her grip.
[Calypso. Carnage and Gluttony.]
[Carnage Feast.]
"Bring it on, mountain suckers! Ahahahah!"
The Carnage Valkyrie planted her axe on her shoulder and curled her free arm into a flex, appreciating what the fusion had done to her biceps under the orange heat now running through her red.
Nyx’s glow was softer. A pink haze folded inward along her skin, the space around her hands bending in a way that did not catch light. A coral streak threaded through the pink of her hair, and the same color rose in her irises.
[Nyx. Space and Gluttony.]
[Spatial Drain.]
"Why do I feel so... hungry?"
The Space Babe’s hand drifted to her stomach and began working slow, thoughtful circles into the soft fabric over it, as if trying to work out where the new appetite was coming from.
Alice’s halo doubled in brightness above Kaiden’s head, the gold it cast across his eyes tripling with a violet undertone threading through it. Her telepathic tail came in smug.
<Big brother. I think I like this.>
[Alice. Light and Pride.]
[Radiant Sovereignty.]
At the chokehold beside the first monster line, Vespera’s shadows kept doing what shadows did. No glow. No change.
Scarlet watched the last of the light settle across the group from a half-step behind her. The Flame Monarch’s face progressed through three stages of increasingly outraged disappointment.
Her lower lip pushed out.
"...I don’t get a hot glowup? How is that fair?!"
The droop arrived on her whole face at once.
A beat later, red-gold fire spilled up her own arms in a cloud of theatric self-consolation, the Flame Monarch lighting herself up out of sheer principle.
Nothing else happened.
The pout doubled.
Vespera’s red gaze did not leave the gate.
"Focus."
"...Fine. But just for the record, I’ll paint a few strands gold when we get out of here and I’ll accept no refusals!"
The fire banked back into her palms.
Vespera’s red gaze cut sideways for a single beat. The look was flat and carried the full weight of ’you are a grown woman and a paid mercenary on this operation. I do not care about the color of your hair. Kindly stop performing at me like you’re my teenage daughter.’
Scarlet’s lower lip pushed out for the third pout, bigger than the previous two combined.
Then the pout broke all at once into a wide, wild grin that split her face from ear to ear.
Kaiden’s own readout resolved in the margin of his vision a blink later.
[Abyssal Master Synergy: Active.]
[While the Abyssal Master’s champions are in Sin Fusion state, the Abyssal Master receives +10% to all attributes per active fusion.]
[Six active. +60%.]
Kaiden flexed his gauntleted right hand once, then opened it to look at the palm.
The weight on his fingers was extraordinary.
The only time he had ever gained a big buff in stats had been the day he had dropped into the Great Demon of Wrath form, but he had not been in control of that night. This time, he was. The power sat clean at his fingertips, with no condition attached to it beyond his women remaining alive.
However, Kaiden did not count that as a drawback because if any one of them fell, debuffs or no debuffs, he would’ve already considered it game over.
The stat window unfolded beside the buff counter a blink later.
[Name: Kaiden Grey]
[Rank: 3-Star. Class: Paragon of Sin.]
[Level: 56]
[Vitality: 171 ➣ 274]
[Strength: 200 ➣ 320]
[Agility: 198 ➣ 317]
[Endurance: 184 ➣ 294]
[Mana: 160 ➣ 256]
[Magic: 158 ➣ 253]
Kaiden’s leveling strategy had always been the same calculated risk. Pick fights against stronger enemies, take whatever damage came with it, and collect the inflated stat payout the system handed back for the effort. At Level 56 he was already carrying numbers most awakened did not accumulate until somewhere in the seventies. The ones too cautious to outpace their curve never saw them at all.
The fusion had just multiplied the whole pool by sixty percent.
The readout now put him inside the stat range most awakened would only reach somewhere near Level 100.
Now, it was time to use their new powers to defend their home, their lives, and their planet. While, at the same time, growing even more powerful, of course!
