Demon Slayer: Rise of The First Werewolf
Chapter 354: Yggdrasil
" What happened here?" Adrian asked without wasting a beat, the elf watched him quietly as if deliberating.
Then sighed, " There was a battle between demons and angels." He answered.
Adrian used his lunar realm to watch the entire place, the trees were dying as if they were poisoned.
Some of the elves had the same marks on them, " How strong were they?" He asked, ’ Is this it? No, it’s too soon or is it?’
Adrian got lost in his own thoughts, he knew something involving heaven and hell were coming.
He and Annie had suspected it for a while not to mention the clues, the biggest clue was his cousin.
But he wasn’t certain what was supposed to happen, then he remembered something religious people mentioned many times.
’ I need to go to the church.’
" King of the wolves, king of the wolves." A voice dragged him out of his mind, the Demigod elf was addressing him.
" You seem to have been lost in your thoughts there, to answer your question, they were not very strong.
Even the strongest of them was merely at Level 4, we could’ve easily dealt with them but harming angels.." He sighed.
Adrian understood, those who did not know them might think angels were kind noble beings but they were just as cruel if not more than demons.
At least the demons were honest about what they were, still Adrian did not understand how level 4 angels and demons can cause such destruction.
While on average they were stronger than mortals of the same level, the difference was not staggeringly high.
" I can understand your confusion." Said the elf as if he had read Adrian’s mind. " This poison you feel is energy.
The results of the clash of demonic and holy esper, it destroys everything it touches, I thought it was merely a myth."
" You know of it?" Adrian asked, the elf nodded.
" There are records of something like this hidden in the archives of my people, follow me."
He led Adrian deeper into the forest until they stood before a tree so massive it seems to reach the sky.
" This is a fragment of Yggdrasil the world tree, you know, my people once believed Yggdrasil was an arc that carries knowledge through worlds.
We still don’t know if that’s true or not but what is true is that We’ve been able to gain knowledge from it.
Which is why others call it the tree of knowledge, touch it, see if it’ll show something."
Adrian hesitated, " You seem quite cooperative with me, why? I thought the high council hated my guts."
The elf smiled bitterly, " Knowledge, it can wonders to ones mind, Yggdrasil is crying, it passed certain knowledge to me.
I cannot reveal much for I’m bound by certain laws myself, all I can say is, we were fools who touched the forbidden out of greed and fear.
Your mother warned us but we did not listen, either way, we never would’ve been able to stop what is coming."
" What exactly is coming?" Adrian asked and the elf just smiled and gestured him to touch Yggdrasil.
Adrian extended his hand and touched the tree, a flood of emotions rushed into his brain.
The cold hearted wolf king felt tears stream down his eyes, " So much pain." He whispered.
Adrian did not receive much information, most of what he received were Yggdrasil’s emotions and this was merely a fragment.
It has fragments memories, he couldn’t imagine what the real thing was feeling but one thing was for certain.
There were more fragments, in fact he’s seen one of them in Niflheim and there others.
’ I’ll need to gather the fragments of Yggdrasil to know the full truth.’ That is what he gathered from this.
Then he turned his attention to the dying forest, " What if I healed your forest for you, what would you be willing to trade for it?" He asked.
The elf watched him skeptically, " Anything but don’t bother yourself, we’ve tried all we can, nothing works."
" Anything huh? Then let’s seal a blood oath, if I heal th forest of this energy, you will give me what I desire."
The elf was skeptical but if the energy was not purged, his people would die, they were already on the brink of extinction.
He agreed and sealed a blood oath with Adrian, Adrian worked his magic with chaos, it was easier than expected.
He knew he could do this the moment he sensed this energy, it was like a weaker version of chaos mixed with something else.
Purging it was not that hard for him, it took nearly a day before he was done and by then, he had ran out of chaos.
Not only was the destructive energy gone but the forest was getting stronger than before.
" Thank you.." the elf thanked him, he still looked in disbelief.
" Now then, you must fulfill your end of the bargain." Said Adrian. The elf gulped, he did not know what Adrian would ask for and that made him nervous.
" I need you to give me hearts from Demigods, you can take you time but I need at least two this month."
Adrian left after saying that, he had much on his mind but he trusted the elf would deliver, as a Demigod he should have an easier time hunting Demigod’s than Adrian.
Adrian went back to his castle and he found Annie already there, " How was your hunt?" She asked.
" Not great but I’ve managed to pass it on to somebody else, I have much to talk to you about."
She nodded, " Good, I also have things to discuss with you, I’ll go first, Amaggadon has begun.
Not officially but there’s been clashes between demons and angels here and there, the sins have gotten more active as well.
War is still quiet but more importantly, both angels and demons are searching for two people and I suspect it’s you and your cousin.
I would suggest you stay here for a while until we can know what we’re dealing with." Said Annie.
Adrian nodded, " Well I was going to say the same thing, by Amaggadon you mean the war between heaven and hell right?
Also, I still don’t know what my role and Arthuretta’s are in this war, I need to find that out but first, we need to collect the fragments of Yggdrasil."
" Yggdrasil? Why?" She asked.
" It holds the secret of everything, about this war, about destiny and most importantly, about the Axioms."
