Chapter 70: New Discovery.

Who knew the spell he learned would turn out to be so useful here.

Osborne jumped out of the way, allowing the wolf to fall to the ground.

The werewolf cried out in pain, thrashing its body against the earth to put out those accursed flames.

Even with the flames consuming it, he didn’t let up.

Sprinting towards it at top speed, which was surprisingly fast, far faster than your average human and more like a beast.

In little time at all, he was upon the demon.

Leaping into the air.

The werewolf, who was being burned by the spreading flames, couldn’t pay attention to Osborne’s right hand, which was currently glowing a searing crimson.

’Flame Touch’s capabilities were no different from a scalding hand, but thanks to my mana control and large mana reserves, I’m able to push it even farther,’ he said inwardly, his gaze hardening.

’Forgive me, but this is all for your own good.’ He steeled his heart, brandishing his own demonic claws glowing a crimson hue.

PUTUI~!

Osborne pierced through the burning wolf’s chest. Thanks to the effects of flame claws and his demonic claws, he was able to breach the Omega’s defences with his body alone.

The werewolf was instantly assaulted by a huge wave of pain, but Osborne quickly pulled out his arm, causing its body to lose strength.

Its muscular form dropping to the ground with a heavy thud.

The moment it came down, the devilish chains sprang from his chest, wrapping it up.

’I intentionally avoided its heart, so it shouldn’t be dead...’ Osborne said inwardly, hoping it was true.

The moment he felt the effects of the chains, this time he wasn’t caught off guard, gritting his teeth to bear its assault.

Fortunately, this time, the process didn’t take too long.

As the chains retracted, a clothesless little boy could be seen lying on the ground, his eyes squirming as if still in bits of pain.

Osborne turned towards Vlaric, who nodded. Understanding what he meant, he and the little girl stood near the young child, watching the ongoing fight.

And so, Osborne went on to fight along with Clawdeth.

With his spells, it didn’t take them long to defeat the remaining werewolves.

---

After absorbing the last werewolf, revealing an unconscious little girl.

Osborne turned silent.

The constant absorption had pushed his demonification even further. Now his ears were pointier, he could feel more strength in his muscles, and two small horns on his head.

It was just like he feared: the more he took, the more he changed.

He let out a sigh before turning towards Vlaric, who now had nine kids huddling around him, their eyes looking onto him with caution and hints of fear.

---

"We can’t keep going like this." Osborne knew that the Baron’s family wouldn’t have just turned this small number of children.

’They probably have far more wolves on their side. These lot must’ve been sent to get rid of us... Or maybe test our strength.’

’Whichever it is, we can’t fight them while having to protect at the same time.’ Osborne said, shifting his gaze to Vlaric.

"You need to head back," he said with a stern look on his face.

Vlaric turned silent, a conflicted look on his face.

He then looked down at the scared little children holding onto him tightly.

"I understand that your goal is important, but right now, keeping them safe comes first," Osborne said.

"Fine..." Vlaric couldn’t bare to risk this many young lives.

In the end, he took the children and began heading back towards the village.

Osborne felt a bit relieved seeing this, letting out a breath.

"Promise me..." Vlaric suddenly stopped, turning around to say.

"What?"

"Since I can’t come, I want you to promise me you’ll make those bastards pay."

’For a commoner, he sure has a lousy tongue. Even if he is an idiot, he’s still a noble and my lord, yet he speaks to him in such a tone...’ Clawdeth gave Vlaric a look.

Nevertheless, she didn’t act.

Osborne nodded. "I promise," he said.

Vlaric nodded back.

"Alright you guys, stay close to me now. I’ll take you back to town. There’s no need to continue being afraid." He said in a soft voice, trying to calm their anxious nerves.

’For a blockhead, he sure knows when to compromise.’ Osborne shook his head lightly.

---

The Baron’s Estate.

Deep underground, countless tunnels spread far and wide, interconnecting like webs within a spider’s net.

A huge muscular Werewolf with crimson eyes let out a ghastly howl that shook the tunnels.

"IMPOSSIBLE!!!" The werewolf clenched its savage fangs.

’How did I lose so many of them this fast?! I sent nine in total, so how come I’ve lost connection with every single one!!!’

"Fufufu, it looks like something’s troubling you, dear brother." A figure emerged from deep within the tunnel, her glowing crimson eyes the first thing that was visible, similar to pure drops of blood underneath the glistening sun on a heated battlefield.

Vanessa looked at the hulking demon without a single shred of fear. Rather than that, a hint of mockery could be seen on her face.

"Shut it! This isn’t the time for your jabs!" William snarled at her.

"Losing nine omegas so quickly is unprecedented. We have to warn Father quickly about this."

"Tsk, still as cowardly as ever." Vanessa scoffed.

"So what if we lost a few unruly mutts? To think I expected more from you. I can’t believe Father gave you the chance to become an Alpha. What a disappointment you’ve turned out to be."

"Watch your tongue, sister!" William’s crimson eyes turned even more fierce, his ferocious face inches from hers.

Unlike the Omegas, as an Alpha, he had far more control over his body and mind in his transformed state.

"While I’d love to teach you a thing or two, I’m afraid I didn’t come here for that."

"What?" William’s expression lessened a bit.

"I came because I wanted to learn how the extermination was going. I didn’t expect things to progress this far."

"Which is why we should tell Father."

"This is exactly why Father will never make you the head of the household. You’re far too cowardly. To think even after becoming a demon, that useless trait would forever remain."

William held back the urge to attack her, even as her tongue only grew sharper.

Vanessa then went on to ask him some questions, which William answered, though still resentful.

"Judging by the time of their deaths, I’d say the both of them must’ve been struggling.... Tsk, and you were so worried." She scoffed at her brother.

"Just send in a beta to finish the job."

’You crazy bitch! You think I didn’t already think of that?’ William said inwardly. ’I’ve already lost a considerable amount of my pack. If I lose one of my two betas as well, I might not be able to remain an Alpha any longer.’

In the end, he didn’t want to take such a risk.

"You know what, I’ll send one of my own. It’d be nice to use this as an achievement next time I speak with Father." Vanessa smirked.

"Do as you wish." William growled, shoving her aside as he walked past. "Just remember that if anything goes wrong, it’s all on you." He said as he vanished deeper into the tunnels.

---

"There’s definitely something down there," Osborne said, sniffing the air slightly.

In front of them stood a gaping hole-like entrance. The cold draft from within brushing against their skin.

’At least this curse isn’t all bad. Thanks to it, my senses are on par with beasts. Who knew I could follow their trail all the way here.’

Clawdeth was silent, yet a troubled look could be seen on her face.

’He’s becoming more and more demonic with time... Is there really no way to stop this...’ She said to herself, feeling a bit frustrated.

If her new safeguard ended up being killed, who would help her then? She hated to admit it, but she knew she needed him in order to survive within the household.

"Well, what are you waiting for? Ladies first..." Osborne gestured for her to go in first.

Clawdeth clicked her tongue in displeasure before taking the lead.

The hole soon led them into a dark tunnel.

"It’s awfully dark in here..." Osborne mumbled, furrowing his brows.

"I can manage." Clawdeth said, not slowing down her steps.

Osborne mumbled a curse beneath his breath before stretching out his hand.

Mid-chant, a fireball emerged atop his palm.

’Incredible...’ Osborne was a bit taken aback.

He stared at the fireball with hints of amazement.

’Before I could finish the chant, the spell activated on its own...’

’Does that mean this demonification also grants chantless casting?’

Chantless casting, the ability to cast spells without uttering a single word.

It was something Osborne had faintly heard about in the original novel. The only one who had been capable of such was the legendary archmage Julie.

Indeed, in the future, after undergoing constant struggles, his teacher would eventually stumble upon this blessing.
