Chapter 144: Cleaning Things Up.
The lightning wolves, on the other hand, behaved quite differently from their former selves, as they remained firmly in position behind Osborne while glaring coldly towards the wild demonic beasts, their bodies lowered slightly as faint sparks of electricity flickered across their fur.
Unlike the pack that had once attacked Osborne in the forest, these wolves no longer rushed forward without thinking whenever they encountered another creature, and their disciplined behaviour showed that their time in the sub-space had been well spent.
Osborne couldn’t help feeling somewhat satisfied with their progress, since training the pack had been one of the reasons he had allowed Vanessa to take charge of them, and judging from their current behaviour, it seemed that his decision hadn’t been a waste of time.
"Take the wolves and kill them all," Osborne ordered Vanessa, his gaze moving across the remaining demonic beasts before settling on the woman who remained kneeling behind him.
"As for you, I want you to gather anything of value."
Vanessa immediately lowered her head in acknowledgement, while Hana remained silent beside her, waiting to hear whether Osborne had any other instructions for them.
"There’s a matter I need to attend to. Once you’re done, revert to your human selves and find something decent to wear."
Osborne had already leaped onto the wooden wall midway through his sentence, and by the time he finished speaking, he was moving across its upper surface before disappearing beyond the encampment, leaving the two women and the lightning wolves behind to carry out his orders.
"Your wish is our command..."
The instant he left, a wave of killing intent surged upward from Vanessa and the lightning wolves as they set their sights on the wild demonic beasts.

Sasha stood in the dark forest, her breathing uneven as she tried to calm herself down, but despite her best efforts, the fear building inside her refused to settle, especially when she remembered the horrible things she had experienced since being kidnapped.
Hoo- Hoo.
A sudden voice startled her, causing her shoulders to stiffen as she hurriedly turned towards the direction of the sound, her heart beating faster as she tried to figure out what had made such a noise in the middle of the night.
However, when she looked up, she discovered that it was nothing but an owl perched on a tree branch, its round eyes staring down at her before it spread its wings and flew away into the darkness.
Even so, Sasha didn’t feel any better, because although she knew that the sound had come from an ordinary bird, the fact that she was alone in a forest filled with unknown dangers made it difficult for her to relax.
All around her, the calls of the night could be heard, with the occasional rustling of leaves and distant howls making the forest seem far more frightening than it would have been during the day.
Her fears slowly crept closer as her gaze darted around, constantly searching for any movement that might suggest something was approaching her, but the darkness made it difficult to distinguish between harmless plants and whatever dangerous creatures might be hiding among them.
She didn’t know when a beast would emerge from the night to hurt her, and being out here in the middle of the forest with no light in sight apart from the luminous moon only made her feel more helpless.
Although the moonlight allowed her to see a little of her surroundings, it did nothing to reassure her that she was safe, since she had no idea what kinds of beasts lived in this forest or how powerful they might be.
’Is he coming...’ Sasha wondered as she looked back towards the direction she had come from, her eyes searching the darkness for any sign of the armoured man who had saved her from the traffickers.
"Just keep running. I’ll catch up!"
Recalling her saviour’s voice as he told her to run, Sasha bit her lower lip, trying to hold on to the little hope she had left, even though she couldn’t help wondering whether she had made the right decision by leaving him behind.
Was he really going to meet up with her, or had he simply told her to run because he knew that there was no way he could protect her while dealing with all those dangerous men?
Just thinking about how many traffickers had been gathered within that encampment did little to help her already dwindling hope, especially since she had seen how vicious they could be and how easily they resorted to violence whenever someone refused to obey them.
Even though the armoured man had managed to catch them by surprise, she had no idea whether he was strong enough to defeat all of them, and the thought of him being overwhelmed while she waited helplessly in the forest made her feel even worse.
She had already spent enough time being treated like an animal, locked inside a cage and forced to endure the cruel treatment of her captors, and the last thing she wanted was to lose the only person who had offered her a chance to escape that nightmare.
However, despite all the hope she wanted to place in him, Sasha couldn’t bring herself to believe that everything would work out so easily, especially when she had no way of knowing what was happening back at the encampment.
’Should I really continue to wait...’ She thought to herself, her fingers tightening around the torn edges of her clothes as she struggled to make a decision.
For all she knew, her saviour could have already been captured and dealt with, leaving her alone in the forest with no one who knew where she was or had any reason to come looking for her.
The thought made her heart sink, but she quickly shook her head, trying to push away the unpleasant possibilities before they could completely overwhelm her.
’No, he told me he would meet up with me. I should at least wait a little longer.’
Even as she tried to convince herself of that, another problem soon came to mind, making her realise that waiting for him might not necessarily be the safest choice either.
