Chapter 141: Aura isn’t to be underestimated.

Completely defenceless as they fled, they were each picked off one after another by Osborne’s spells, with their desperate attempts to escape only making it easier for him to target them without worrying about the demonic beasts getting in the way.

To Osborne, there was no surrender.

Being who he was, he knew that letting even one enemy go was bound to come back and bite him in the ass, especially when the people he was dealing with had already shown that they were willing to hurt others for their own gain.

He had seen enough of the world to understand that people who were allowed to escape after suffering a loss didn’t always choose to move on with their lives, and if these traffickers survived, there was no telling whether they would spend the next few months searching for him or looking for the people who had helped him.

After all, the same could be said for him and the Roosevelts, as he had no intention of simply forgetting his time with them.

He had no intention of repeating that mistake with a group of traffickers who would gladly sell another human being if the opportunity presented itself, and as far as he was concerned, the safest way to prevent future trouble was to make certain that they would never have the chance to cause any.

"That’s about enough out of you!"

One of the traffickers who looked stronger than the others finally lost his patience, his voice cutting through the chaos as he watched another fireball descend towards his fleeing companions.

Unlike the others, he hadn’t allowed the sudden turn of events to completely overwhelm him, and although the sight of his comrades being killed one after another had clearly affected him, the anger on his face suggested that he had finally decided to take matters into his own hands.

Osborne noticed that elated looks emerged on the other traffickers’ faces when they saw that this man was finally making a move.

’I take it he’s the boss around here...’ Osborne mused.

The man’s black hair was slightly dishevelled from the fighting, while his large beard covered most of his lower face, giving him a rough appearance that stood out even among the other men in the encampment.

Without wasting another moment, he moved quickly through the chaos, avoiding the rampaging beasts as he made a beeline towards Osborne, who was still standing on top of the wooden wall and raining fireballs down upon his men.

The man had clearly realised that continuing to fight the demonic beasts while allowing the armoured stranger to attack them from a distance would only lead to more deaths, and if he wanted to turn the situation around, he would have to deal with the primary source of their problems first.

Osborne frowned beneath his helm when he noticed the man approaching, and without waiting for him to get any closer, he sent several fireballs in his direction, hoping to stop his advance before he could reach the wall.

However, the man wasn’t deterred by the abnormal amount of mana Osborne had displayed, and instead of retreating like the others, he hardened his expression and continued moving quickly while evading the incoming attacks.

Osborne summoned a mud wall while he was mid-sprint to hinder the approaching trafficker, but against expectations, the man didn’t attempt to slow down or change his direction. Instead, he shifted his momentum as he stepped onto the rising wall before using it as a springboard to pounce towards him, who was standing on the wooden wall.

"I’ll make sure I tear you limb from limb for this, you chivalrous bastard!"

The man held his broadsword tightly, his green aura surging out from the blade and covering its surface, making the already large weapon appear even more enormous than it had been before.

’Three-star? Maybe four?’

Osborne pondered as he watched the man approach, trying to estimate his strength from the aura he had displayed, although he couldn’t be certain of the exact level without seeing more of what he could do.

Considering the man’s ability to coat his weapon with aura and release such a powerful attack, he was certainly stronger than an ordinary fighter, and the fact that he had managed to use the rising mud wall as a stepping stone without losing his balance suggested that he possessed considerable combat experience as well.

’This guy’s more dangerous than I expected.’ Osborne thought to himself.

He didn’t stand on ceremony either, as he quickly leaped off the wooden wall and descended into the encampment, deciding that it would be better to deal with his opponent on the ground rather than allow himself to be cornered on the narrow wooden structure.

"RAVENOUS SLASH!!!"

The trafficker released his charged attack, swinging his massive broadsword with enough force to send a powerful slash towards the wooden wall, the green aura surrounding his blade tearing through the air as it travelled towards Osborne’s previous position.

’That much damage can be done with nothing but aura?’ Osborne’s pupils constricted momentarily when he saw that the part of the wall he had been standing on moments before had been cleaved in twain by that single attack, leaving a deep cut through the thick wooden structure that extended all the way to the ground!

Fortunately, he had reacted a step quicker, and if he hadn’t moved away in time, he couldn’t begin to fathom the consequences of allowing that attack to hit him directly.

Even if his body had become considerably stronger after his demonification, he wasn’t foolish enough to assume that his improved durability would allow him to withstand a direct hit from such a powerful attack without suffering serious injuries.

"Blasted coward!"

The trafficker with the broadsword landed on the ground with a heavy thump, letting out a disgruntled spit as he watched Osborne descend into the encampment, clearly displeased that his attack had failed to hit its target.

He waved his huge blade with ease, pointing it towards Osborne as he straightened his back, his expression filled with anger over the fact that the man had chosen to dodge rather than meet his attack head-on.
