Chapter 1349 Write a letter.
From what I could remember, I ordered JP and Captain Dagan’s crew to have her stay put in her room, and if these two were sharing a room with her, how could they have packed their things slip past her—and in addition, Captain Dagan’s men should’ve reported to us if their mom tried to get out or came after them.
Lisa answered with a faint smile, “Remember the curfews? She follows that to a dot and she’s a very~ deep sleeper. For some reason, she’s always tired before 6:00 PM and we’d just sneak out every time she’s out cold.”
Lori added, “The only problem is the other families living with us. Their kids would almost always tell on us so we could only go through the windows or when it’s this late… Or we give their parents some liquor as a uh… you know, a bribe or something…”
I breathed a sigh of relief, “Well, that’s handled but… are you two really sure about this?”
“Yeah! We’re sure of it!/It’s too much, already! Why would we care?”
I scratched the side of my cheek, “She’s still your mom and she’s probably on a few loops on her downward spiral. If she gets proper counselling, she might think… normally, again, and you two—even if full-grown adults—would still have another family member to be with instead of just you two. Do you get what I’m saying?”
Kaley nodded, “Instead of having you two shipped somewhere else, we could have your mom come in for sessions with my mom—she’s a psychiatrist, the best one—to figure out the root of the issue and hopefully resolve it instead of, you know, let her be and, for lack of a better term, stagnate.”
“…/…”
I waited for them to speak up but I’m pretty sure they were still contemplating about what to do. However, from the list I saw before, Lori was studying to be a mechanic with a focus on motorcycles while Lisa was taking BSHRM(Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management).
With that information, the two were doing what they were studying for in this place though Lisa’s position was a little difficult since she was working closely with her mother.
In Lori’s case, I could place her anywhere easily, more if she had a good work ethic, and with Lisa, the need for her studied course wasn’t that essential in the apocalypse—though it’d pay more if she had more experience with other trades or that good in hospitality services.
It’s just that now, my current view of them was not that good because the moment their mother acted up and embarrassed their name, the first thing they did was pack up and try to catch the next train away from here. While it was true that it was an accumulated thing on their part, I would’ve liked it if they tried to do something about it than straight-up avoid it.
‘I mean, they could’ve tried but Mrs. Batiancilla was that stubborn… I guess we’ll see…’
But still after giving them time to think more about it, the two still decided to ride away with us and start new lives either from my place or any of our allied ones, hopefully somewhere far where their mother wouldn’t be able to just hitch a ride and drop by then cause a scene.
So I picked up my radio and called for Eden—and no, she wasn’t in the room with us.
However, the look on Eden’s face as she came out the other room—all red-faced and a nervous wreck was funny enough—and to add insult to injury, Cindy came with her all excited and was wearing very comfortable clothing.
Cindy walked over to us all confused, “Huh? We’re doing it in the kitchen? Isn’t this too daring—”
I quickly shut that shit down, “N-No, that’s not the— Look, these are Lori and Lisa Batiancialla—”
“Oh, I know. From earlier—”
“Y-Yeah, yeah, from earlier. So, what I’m saying is, do you have a need for a mechanic and someone who works in hospitality services?”
Eden answered as Cindy went to the fridge for some water, “Of course, we do. We need everyone for everything, really. Every bit helps and we can also teach them while on the job, no issues… but…”
The other sisters replied, “But?”
“We do require a little more than the proposed basic training here—”
“Doesn’t matter, I’m in!/M-Me too! Take us with you!”
“Umm…” Eden trailed as she turned to me, “W-What’s this about again?”
Within a few concise minutes, I gave Eden the full details of their supposed “escape”, but just like Kaley and me, she tried to convince the two to stay and try with their mother first but the two couldn’t be convinced to think otherwise—funnily enough, like their mom. So yeah, with Eden’s help, they ironed out a few details of their new life but Kaley had one last suggestion for the two sisters.
“Before we take you with us, write your mom a letter.”
“A letter?”
“A letter, a recording, a will—anything. It’s much better than her waking up with you two gone, and have a copy of it just in case she tears it out in anger. Just leave it in Mrs. Garciano’s care just to be safe.
Still, we’ll offer her counseling services and please, don’t just shut her out if she ever tries to contact you but we’ll also inform her to give you two some time to adjust and some space away from her in your lives. Do you understand that?”

“S-Sure…/I guess that’s okay…”
Then Eden remembered the more important details about living with them in Subic:
“Hold up, how are you two with puzzles?”
“Like Jigsaw?/I’m great at those!”
“I mean… Like mazes in… umm… let’s say~ 3D or something?”
Cindy rolled her eyes, “Just tell them about our Forest of Death!”
“F-Forest of Death?!/What?!”
I waved them off, “Shhh~”
“Sorry…”
So yeah, as Eden continued to detail more stuff about their home, Kaley was already tugging on my shirt, telling me to silently sneak away with her so we could finally join everyone else in our room.
