Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 1782: You Are Free

  • Next Chapter

Outside the sphere, people around the world are watching Yang Yu’s dialogue with the goddess.

On screen, it is not the glasses nerd form of Black Spade but the goddess’s stature, shimmering with golden light, towering immensely.

At some point, a few angels flew in from the corners of the sky.

They crafted clouds using Holy Light, sat on them, and also watched the live broadcast.

Facing the goddess, Yang Yu’s face showed no trace of fear, just methodically asking one question after another.

Many questions, the audience couldn’t help but admire.

Yet Yang Yu, upon receiving the answers, fully understood.

Even though they couldn’t comprehend, the audience was watching this live broadcast attentively.

No one knew that the broadcast they were watching had long since become a recorded one, unbeknownst to them.

Within the gigantic sphere, even if Yang Yu wasn’t specifically asking certain questions, the goddess had already given him the answers early on.

Yang Yu gradually understood the motivations behind the actions of the Black Spade Goddess.

He altered some of the question formulations, requesting Black Spade cooperate to have an epochal Q&A session in front of everyone.

To maintain her image in front of the Favored Clan and make her statements more convincing, Black Spade specifically presented the goddess form revered by angels.

Yang Yu thus engaged in a back-and-forth with Black Spade, guiding the Q&A session towards its conclusion.

…

…

Yang Yu, on screen, pondered for a long time, ultimately speaking as if making a firm decision:

“This counts as my final question.

If I release you here, how will you treat us?”

The enormous golden figure smiled lightly:

“The actions a person takes are based on their own understanding.

If, within their understanding, resources can only be obtained through plunder, they will naturally plunder others to get what they need.

They might even naturally believe that others do the same.

Civilization works this way too.

Throughout past years, your civilization has experienced countless insidious plots.

You judged us similarly, thinking we would also be deceitful.

The vast majority of people from that era deeply believed this.

This gave certain ill-intentioned people a chance to take advantage.

However,

what I want to tell you is that interactions between civilizations are more diverse.

One shouldn’t make hasty judgments based on certain things.

The era is ever-changing.

Your understanding of our past doesn’t represent our present.

Hundreds of millions of years ago, you were just a group of insects, but now, I don’t see you as just insects.

During the long duration of being sealed, I’ve thought about a lot, even pondering if I should help you return to a prosperous civilization.

But the people of the past have already left you a rich legacy; it seems I need not worry.

Moreover, I have a premonition.

If we help you reconstruct the original civilization, it will surely collapse again.

I want to respect their choice.

Your future should be in your hands, to create for yourselves.

Your contact with me comes too soon.

My early appearance indirectly caused the collapse of past civilization, for which I apologize.

After being freed, I will lead my Favored Clan back to our dwelling, awaiting you to find us in the vast universe.

The only thing I’m uneasy about is some of my Favored Clan descendants.

They have been left on this planet.

If possible, I hope some personnel can be left where those Favored Clan descendants are gathered.

These people won’t disrupt the world’s progress.

They will only offer those Favored Clan descendants a choice.

If you disagree, we will withdraw completely.

Until you can understand us, and when we encounter each other again in the vast universe, that’s when we will reconnect.”

The goddess’s voice was extremely gentle, incredibly sincere.

Among the crowd watching the broadcast, many couldn’t help but worry.

If everything the goddess said was simply to deceive Yang Yu into releasing her…

Having been confined in that small place for millennia, the goddess might have been long brewing anger, wanting to avenge the world…

Once freed, the consequences would be unimaginable.

Almost everyone held their breath, silently awaiting Yang Yu’s response.

On screen, Yang Yu pondered for a long time before finally releasing his tightly gripped knife handle:

“Black Spade Goddess, it’s a pleasure to have a dialogue with you.

I’ve asked all the questions that others might find interesting.

I have a few individual questions I’d like to ask you, could you answer them for me?”

Yang Yu handed a piece of paper to the goddess, who spoke as if she already knew its contents:

“The answers are below each question.

Once you open the paper, the answers will be visible.

These are indeed some intriguing questions, perhaps long surpassing the era’s scope of understanding.

It seems I was right.

Only the understander of that civilization can ultimately reach here.

My long wait wasn’t in vain.”

Yang Yu did not open the paper to see its contents but rather put it away, speaking as if he had already made up his mind:

“Thank you for your efforts, Black Spade Goddess.

I will not retain you.

Our civilization indeed still has many issues.

I agree with your view; it’s not time yet for our mutual contact.

But I believe the day when we can understand each other will come.

Thank you for enduring such hardship, thank you for waiting for us.

Let’s leave this place together!

You are free!”

Turning around, Yang Yu faced the Surveillance Magic, striding forward step by step.

The goddess’s enormous entity transformed into beams of light, following closely behind Yang Yu.

Yang Yu stepped out of the sphere, countless beams slowly floated out from the not-so-large opening, congregating at the Sea Mother’s center, forming the immensely tall goddess image.

From the golden clouds flew forth enchanting winged figures, as if they had been waiting for a long time, gathering around the goddess.

Almost simultaneously, the angels danced in mid-air, their long vigil leading to their desired outcome.

The angels flew uniformly above Yang Yu, placing their hands on their chests, spontaneously expressing their utmost gratitude to Yang Yu.

After thanking Yang Yu, the angels folded their wings, clasped their hands together, and began to sing their ballad in their language.

The sky slowly cracked open, casting down sacred light, angels flapping their wings gathered around the goddess.

Slowly opening her eyes, revealing radiant pupils, the Black Spade Goddess spoke with a voice audible all over the world:

“People of this world,

I understand that restoring your civilization is not easy, but I hold expectations for you.

I genuinely wish for the day of our reunion.”

Upon concluding, the goddess ascended slowly along the descending golden light from the sky, flying towards the horizon.

Yang Yu gazed upward, quietly seeing off the goddess and angels as they departed.

Everything happened too suddenly; from the goddess’s detachment from the device to her departure, the total duration added up to merely two or three minutes, astonishing everyone staring at the screen.

Then, an even more shocking scene occurred for the audience.

Yang Yu took out the paper where the goddess provided answers, slowly opening it under the world’s watchful eyes.

After reading the text, Yang Yu took out a lighter and set it ablaze.

As if he had already anticipated the world’s anger, Yang Yu displayed a brilliant smile to everyone present and spoke thus:

“The future isn’t decided solely by me.

The future is also jointly decided by all of you watching this broadcast.

I feel that you don’t need the answers to these questions.

If you wish to know these answers, as I mentioned to the goddess before,

go understand the world, go exploring!”

Gesturing to Bai Jin and the others in the distance, screens broadcasting Yang Yu’s visage worldwide began to extinguish one after the other.

This immediately stirred an explosion among the live viewers.

Yang Yu, as if relieved, shrugged off the burdens from his shoulders, exhaled deeply, and walked towards his companions.

Many were watching Yang Yu with expressions of “Is this enough?” while Yang Yu responded with an “It’s enough” look to everyone present.

The future direction of this world is unknown to anyone.

No one knows what consequences Yang Yu’s choice will bring.

However, undeniably, Yang Yu has drawn a conclusion to this protracted event.

Time will provide answers to all questions.

Bidding farewell to the Sea-dwelling Species in the distance, Yang Yu contentedly spoke to his surrounding companions:

“Everything I needed to do, I have already done.

Set off, let’s go home!”
