After she finished speaking, she left the people staring at each other, and with a movement, appeared near Chu Xiu, casting techniques with her hands to scatter the insects approaching Chu Xiu.

Mu Tuo and Tuoba Shou also silently followed, splitting up to intercept the oncoming swarm of insects.

"Hey, you guys don’t really believe that nonsense about tribulations, do you?" Mao Qi turned to look at the remaining three, especially at Zhu Jiu among them.

"I don’t understand what’s there to hesitate about! He seeks death himself and gives us such a great opportunity! Are you going to let such an excellent chance slip by?"

Mao Qi’s amber eyes stared intently at Zhu Jiu: "Use your Rule of Destruction on him with all your might now, and it will all be over! There’s no safer way than this!"

Zhu Jiu did not speak, just stood quietly where he was, not knowing what he was thinking, until Mao Qi’s expression became impatient, and he slowly said, "Do you think... Brother Chen would not think of this?"

With these words, a low dragon roar rose from within Zhu Jiu’s body, and a terrifying power surged around him. With just a slight motion, a ripple representing destruction spread out, and the insects within the ripple shattered!

He then moved, rushing straight to the end of the passage, blocking the most concentrated point of the insect swarm’s breakthrough!

Seeing this, the two of them, the Remnant Demon and Shagu, also ceased to argue and used their divine techniques to help Chu Xiu intercept the insect swarm.

The performance of the three made Mao Qi click her tongue in extreme displeasure.

"It seems there are no fools among the Civilization Envoys after all."

She did feel that the current moment was the best timing, but she also knew Chu Xiu was not so easy to deal with.

Chu Xiu could stand so confidently against the rule; who knew what other cards he had?

What Zhu Jiu said, she had thought of long ago; how could she possibly take the risk herself?

So she just kept urging others, without herself taking action.

"None of you want to be the bad guy, none willing to take risks, so I won’t be the one to stick my neck out," Mao Qi muttered, suddenly swaying and transforming into a giant Cyan Dragon!

Without any apparent action, a huge water curtain rose around Chu Xiu. Though it looked like ordinary water, when the poisonous insects entered, it was as if they were swept into a tsunami, moving up and down along the water curtain, unable to rush out!

The pressure on the other six interceptors instantly reduced!

"This must be the [Abyss Bind Realm] divine technique of the already extinct Cyan Dragon clan." A smile appeared on Xie Xuanzhao’s face, "The ever-changing Rule of Transformation, indeed most suited for trapping enemies."

"Miss Mao alone, I fear, may equal the combined strength of the remaining six of us."

"Don’t call me miss," Mao Qi rolled her eyes, "If it weren’t for your collective stupidity, I wouldn’t have to go to such trouble."

She spoke, yet her legs did not stop for a moment as she prowled around Chu Xiu, consecutively casting techniques to repair the gaps in the water curtain damaged by the insects.

She held no malice toward Chu Xiu, only always made decisions most advantageous to herself.

But even so, the corner of her eye caught sight of Chu Xiu surrounded by insects.

Even with most of the poisonous insects intercepted, a considerable number were still charging forward, and the number of insects clinging to Chu Xiu had already exceeded two thousand!

And Chu Xiu did seem intent on relying on his physique to endure, remaining motionless, yet at this point, his body was nearly fully corroded!

Needless to say, his flesh was long gone, and his bones and organs had mostly melted away, leaving only a golden orb in the Spirit Platform and abdomen, still intact.

"That golden orb must be his Energy Core? Meaning, this guy is now melted down to just the core?" Mao Qi narrowed her eyes slightly.

Although a High Tier Awakened can quickly recover from any wounds as long as the core remains intact, divine secret techniques need internal energy pathways to be employed.

It’s like having a race car whose core is the engine; as long as the engine isn’t broken, other parts can be relatively easily replaced, albeit with perhaps reduced performance, but it can still run.

But if there’s only an engine left, no amount of power will help.

"So this guy now has his core intact but is entirely without defense..."

Mao Qi had never heard of someone who could fight with only a core remaining.

At this thought, her once-calm murderous intent began to surge anew.

"Hmm, though there’s some risk, the trial rewards are always determined by task contribution points."

"With a baseline pass reward of ten million Cause and Effect Points, if I were to slay the one undergoing tribulation..."

Mao Qi could not imagine how enormous the additional reward she might receive!

While these thoughts raced internally, her body involuntarily moved closer to Chu Xiu.

The Cyan Dragon was a powerful race from the previous era, said to possess terrifying power surpassing ordinary demigods as soon as they reached adulthood, even the weakest ones.

It was by serendipity and the expenditure of numerous [Old Bones] that she pulled a drop of Cyan Dragon blood from past history, thus gaining the transformation power of a Cyan Dragon.

And the Cyan Dragon transformation was one of the trump cards she prided herself on.

The [Abyss Bind Realm] she constructed around served indeed to trap enemies, yet could be transformed anytime she wished into the incredibly powerful [Nine Whirlpool Killing Prison]!

Mao Qi’s eyes flickered, her form getting ever closer to Chu Xiu, the horn on her head emitting a faint lightning glow.

However, just as she was about to take action, her massive dragon body abruptly froze, her large dragon eyes widened as if she had seen something unbelievable!

In her sight, a poisonous insect on Chu Xiu, who was entirely covered by these creatures, suddenly shifted location, revealing a narrow gap, beneath which was Chu Xiu’s eye.

His head was almost entirely corroded, yet for some reason, that eye remained unscathed, and to Mao Qi’s horror, she realized that eye buried under all those insects had been watching her all along! Following her movements!

In that instant of eye contact, her vast dragon form began to tremble uncontrollably!

That was still Chu Xiu’s eye, with no visual difference from how it usually appeared, but through it, she saw something belonging to another dimension, entirely incomprehensible by her current tier, something that could drive one mad just by gazing at it!

Mao Qi knew what that was! It was the source of the rules, the origin of all mysteries in the cosmos! She had seen eyes like those before, during the time she knelt beneath a throne after granted the [Seed of Rules]!

They were the eyes of a god!
