Chapter 1792: Against the World
Chapter 1792: Chapter 160: Against the World
“Fisher, you’re back?! Are you okay? What’s the situation outside?”
Fisher and Ashley had just returned to the Wutong Tree when Valentina, who was overseeing matters at the door, hurried over. Behind her was Alagina, also looking worried, though she stood a little further away.
She was also about to step forward, but seeing Valentina take the lead, she pursed her lips and stopped, silently checking Fisher for any injuries.
Fisher noticed Alagina’s gesture and moved to the middle of them before shaking his head, saying,
“The speed of the prophecy is accelerating, but the Gap is still not a major concern, at least for now… But we must hurry, Elizabeth has already started taking action.”
“So soon?”
“Yes, it seems Elizabeth doesn’t want to give this world much time…”
Valentina pressed her lips tightly together. Fisher had only returned less than a day ago, arriving in the morning, and by dusk the situation had further deteriorated. Most people inside the Wutong Tree were still unaware of what was happening, increasing Valentina’s stress.
Especially since Master Tao wasn’t by her side at the moment.
After a brief hesitation, she forced herself to calm down,
“Since that’s the case, I’ll immediately call upon all the Clan Leaders to inform them of the situation, but we’re all quite unclear about the Doomsday Prophecy and Elizabeth’s condition. How to proceed, Fisher, I’m afraid you’ll have to guide us. And Master Tao needs a bit more time… to manage…”
“Yes, I already have a concrete plan. I need your assistance along with Alagina and everyone at the Wutong Tree…” Fisher’s gaze briefly unfocused but then quickly returned. He reached out to pat Valentina’s head, telling her some good news, “And as for Master Tao, I thought of another way that doesn’t involve sacrificing her…”
Valentina’s eyes brightened. At this moment, nothing could be more uplifting than hearing Fisher’s words,
“What method?!”
“…Strategic secret.”
Fisher didn’t take his hand off her head and said with a smile, prompting Valentina to grab his mischievous hand in dissatisfaction.
But Fisher wouldn’t say that unless he had a plan, so Valentina chose to trust him. Though she had internally told herself a thousand times to accept Master Tao’s departure, at this moment, the sensation of a heavy weight lifted from her heart told her she wasn’t ready to face the loss.
Holding onto Fisher’s hand and looking at Fisher in front of her, somehow the image of the “Phoenix Leader” she forced herself to embody slightly crumbled, revealing the vulnerable eighteen-year-old girl beneath.
Her eyes reddened slightly as she looked up at him, as if everything was conveyed without words.
“…”
Behind Fisher, Ashley remained silent. She just quietly watched Valentina at that moment and eventually averted her gaze.
As for Alagina…
She seemed to be looking at the sparkling ring between Valentina’s fingers.
She blinked and silently moved to the side, bypassing the emotional Valentina, looking at Fisher’s ring, soon spotting something shimmering there as well.
“…”
Her expression turned aggrieved, yet she quietly returned to her original spot, gazing at the nearby Gate, suddenly coughing softly to say,
“Looks like Slime is coming over, along with Mr. Book…”
Though it was a plain sentence, Fisher couldn’t help but feel as if someone remembered his deeds in the grand scheme.
He glanced at Alagina but only saw her profile.
And whether it was a delusion or not, he felt Alagina’s cheeks seemed slightly puffier than he remembered…
Lowering his head, he then noticed the ring he had put on with Valentina moments ago, understanding something.
In the end, there were some oversights.
Fisher silently sighed, yet couldn’t divert his attention at this moment. Emhardt had already taken lead, flying onto his shoulder, causing him to refocus on the present.
“Has the message been sent?”
“Yes, and very quickly. The Slimes of the South Continent received their reply and brought it back together…”
The Slime accompanying him was reporting on the situation inside the Wutong Tree to Valentina, while Emhardt whispered, slyly glancing at Valentina, handing the letter tucked in its pages to Fisher.
At times like these, Emhardt still thinks of the bigger picture, which truly is a burden for him.
“So fast?”
“You’ve been gone for over three hours, haven’t you? Time flows differently in the Gap compared to outside. Rafael and the others haven’t set out yet, even though they plan to, they wouldn’t foolishly head straight to Nali. They need to prepare first. Your letter has arrived just in time, now everything’s okay.”
Fisher, feeling both amused and helpless, took the letter from him, relieved to hear that Rafael and the others were still in the South Continent,
“That’s good, this way the plan should proceed smoothly.”
