Yin Da was unhappy to hear Hu Ya say her Beast Husbands had all liked Bai Wanwan. He directly ordered the Wandering Beastmen beside him, "Drag this female away, lock her up, and don’t let her out again."

Hu Ya was roughly hauled up from the ground by two Wandering Beastmen. She screamed at Bai Wanwan, "You’re a wicked female! My Beast Husbands died because of you, and you aren’t even sad..."

Bai Wanwan crossed her arms over her chest, watching the performance.

’Xin Shan and Xin Yu were her Beast Husbands. Why should I be sad?’

Still, it was two lives lost, and they were two of the few Beastmen she had gotten to know since arriving in this world.

Afraid of being dragged away, Hu Ya spoke in a rush.

Her words happened to strike a nerve with Yin Da. He immediately raised a hand, stopping the Wandering Beastmen from dragging her away.

After glancing at Bai Wanwan, Yin Da fixed his gaze on Hu Ya. "What has she lied to me about?"

Seeing that it had worked, Hu Ya was delighted. She turned her head and sneered at Bai Wanwan.

But instead of looking nervous, Bai Wanwan looked like she was watching a play. "Well, go on," Wanwan urged. "The City Lord and I are waiting!"

Hu Ya was so furious her nostrils flared. She decided to go all out. "City Lord, Bai Wanwan and I are females from the same tribe. The Clan Leader arranged many males for her, but she rejected them all! She definitely looks down on you too. She’s just tricking you."

Yin Da didn’t bother to restrain his anger. The coarse flesh of his face quivered slightly.

Feeling this wasn’t enough, Bai Wanwan quickly added fuel to the fire. "Why would I look down on the City Lord? You’re spouting nonsense!"

Without thinking, Hu Ya blurted out, "Wandering Beastmen are so ugly. Even I look down on them, so why would you find them acceptable?"

Uh-oh...

Bai Wanwan did not feel inclined to wish her good luck.

The next moment, Hu Ya’s body went flying like a broken kite.

She hadn’t even processed why Yin Da had turned his fury on her before she slammed heavily onto the ground.

A mouthful of blood sprayed from her lips. She struggled to lift her head to look at Bai Wanwan. She tried to raise a hand, but it fell limply back to her side.

Yin Da’s savage gaze locked onto Bai Wanwan. "Is what she said true? Do you think I’m ugly?"

Bai Wanwan answered calmly, "She’s trying to hurt me, so she’s deliberately telling lies. I have only one Beast Husband, Xin Feng of the Cat Clan Tribe. His Talent was destroyed and his face is scarred. Not a single female in the entire tribe was willing to mate with him, but I didn’t reject him. Why would I reject a powerful male like you?"

"You’re not lying to me?"

Bai Wanwan snorted. "There are plenty of other females in my Cat Clan Tribe. Go ask them!"

Only then did Yin Da’s expression soften.

He seemed to have been placated, no longer directing his anger at her.

’But I know,’ Bai Wanwan thought, ’if I keep putting off mating with him, he’ll stop believing me for sure.’

Hu Ya was hauled up like a sack of broken rags and dragged away.

Yin Da asked no more questions. He patiently accompanied Bai Wanwan, letting her pick freely from the plundered goods.

"Take whatever you like. I’ll have it all sent to your place."

Bai Wanwan didn’t hold back. ’I’ll just take what I want,’ she thought. ’I can stash it all in the System Space later.’

Yin Da’s gaze followed Bai Wanwan wherever she went.

Bai Wanwan sensed it, but she didn’t turn around, so she missed the way the male’s gaze had turned dangerously predatory.

"City Lord!"

Two Wandering Beastmen rushed up to him. "Several powerful, unfamiliar Beastmen have appeared outside the city! They’ve injured many of our males. City Lord, we need you to come take a look."

Yin Da’s attention was diverted. "Wanwan, keep picking on your own. I’ll find you after I’ve handled this."

Bai Wanwan smiled at him, her voice soft. "Alright, you go on."

"You all take good care of the Holy Female. When she’s finished picking, escort her back."

After giving his orders to the other Wandering Beastmen, Yin Da departed at a brisk pace.

As soon as Yin Da was gone, the smile vanished from Bai Wanwan’s face.

’Hu Ya’s attempt to frame me backfired spectacularly, but now Yin Da will be even more eager to find out if her accusations were true.’

She pointed at the goods on the ground. "Not this, not this, and not this. Pack up all the rest and take them back for me."

The Wandering Beastmen present stammered, "T-Take it all back?"

"Yin Da told me to take my pick. Or does his word mean nothing?"

The Wandering Beastmen wouldn’t dare to argue, but this was the entire stock of a medium-sized tribe’s caravan. It was so much...

And Bai Wanwan was indeed bold. She wasn’t one to pass up free things.

The Wandering Beastmen followed behind Bai Wanwan, shouldering Beast Skin Bags filled with supplies.

Bai Wanwan strolled leisurely ahead. As she passed the stone house where Hu Ya had been dragged, she glanced inside.

The sight left her dumbfounded.

Even as injured as Hu Ya was, the roomful of Wandering Beastmen showed her no mercy.

’This Wandering Beast City truly is a nightmare for females.’

She tore her gaze away and turned to walk toward Yin Da’s residence.

One bag... two bags... a total of eight Beast Skin Bags were carried into her room.

The males didn’t dare treat her as they did other females. They obediently set down the goods and left in a hurry.

"WHIMPER..."

The little cubs scrambled out of their nest, running to circle around her feet.

Bai Wanwan knelt and scooped all three into her arms.

The three were so excited they kept kneading at her chest and rubbing their heads against her face.

Bai Wanwan let them fuss over her, playing with them for a while.

Then she tapped the tiger cub’s head. "The tiger cub has been very good. You’ve taken great care of your brother and sister."

The tiger cub seemed to understand and bounced even more excitedly, nearly knocking the other two cubs right out of Bai Wanwan’s arms.

Bai Wanwan quickly pulled them back.

Realizing he might have caused trouble, the tiger cub gave the two Cat Cubs a few placating licks.

Bai Wanwan was sitting on the stone threshold, playing with the cubs in her lap, when she suddenly spotted Zhu Xiu’s figure...

She hesitated for a moment before placing the cubs back inside the stone house.

"Tiger cub, take good care of your brother and sister. I’m going out for a little while, but I’ll be back soon."

’After thinking it over,’ she mused, ’I still think Zhu Xiu is my best chance.’

’No matter what, for the sake of my safety and freedom, I have to keep trying.’

She quietly followed behind Zhu Xiu, ducking into hiding spots from time to time.

After tailing him for some distance, he suddenly vanished.

A little panicked, Bai Wanwan hurried out from her hiding place and looked around frantically.

"Looking for me?"

Zhu Xiu’s voice came from behind her.

Bai Wanwan turned, batting her large, beautiful eyes as she nodded with a radiant smile. "Yes! I was looking for you."

Zhu Xiu remained silent, his calm eyes fixed on her, as if waiting for her to continue.

Before Bai Wanwan could speak again, a group of Wandering Beastmen started walking their way.

Suddenly, a hand tightened around her waist. Zhu Xiu pulled her into the narrow alley between two stone houses.

Their bodies were pressed almost completely together.

A smile played on Bai Wanwan’s lips. She stood on her tiptoes and leaned close to his ear. "Second-in-command, why are you being so secretive? What are you afraid of?"

’He’s the second-in-command of Wandering Beast City. What does he have to hide from?’

The hand gripping her waist tightened in a clear warning.

’He didn’t need to warn me,’ she thought. ’I have no intention of alerting the Wandering Beastmen outside.’

The footsteps drew near, then gradually faded into the distance...

The hand on her waist didn’t loosen, so Bai Wanwan simply raised her arms and wrapped them around his neck.

Zhu Xiu lowered his head. A scarlet glint flashed in the depths of his black eyes, radiating an extremely dangerous aura.
