Chapter 598: Chapter 595: Preparing as Much as Possible

Yan Lie was incredibly fast, leaving them far behind in the blink of an eye.

"Wanwan, I’ll carry you."

Bai Wanwan knew she couldn’t keep up on her own two feet, so she immediately jumped onto Yin Ze’s broad back.

With a slight exertion of strength, Yin Ze settled his female securely on his back. His long legs began to move, and he swiftly chased after the figure ahead.

The night was as black as ink, gently enveloping the silhouette of the Tiger Clan Tribe.

Resting on Yin Ze’s shoulder, Bai Wanwan could already see Yan Lie’s back. He was silently trailing the male wearing white beast hide.

The male didn’t seem to notice. He kept his head down, turning hurriedly into an even narrower and darker alley between two stone houses, his figure about to be swallowed by the deep shadows.

Yan Lie’s form blurred like a phantom as he suddenly accelerated, closing in on his target’s back in the blink of an eye.

He chose not to issue a warning or make a sound. His left hand shot out like a bolt of lightning, aiming for the back of the other’s neck.

However, it was as if the male with the lowered head had eyes in the back of his head. The instant before Yan Lie’s fingertips could touch his skin, he managed to narrowly dodge the attack with an instinctive sidestep.

The male Beastman in the white beast hide snapped his head up. The ordinary look in his eyes vanished, replaced by a beast-like vigilance and suspicion. He hissed in a low voice, "Yan Lie? What are you doing?"

He recognized Yan Lie. He knew this was the powerful Red Rank Male who shared the same precious Wife with the Clan Leader, a highly respected figure in the tribe.

And that was precisely why he was all the more confused and wary.

In a flash, the sharp look on Yan Lie’s face vanished, replaced by a slightly awkward and dawning smile. He smoothly withdrew his hand and scratched the back of his head sheepishly, his tone natural as he spoke, "Oh, man! Look at me. It’s so dark, I mistook you for that guy who snuck into the tribe to cause trouble a few days ago. Did I scare you?"

As he spoke, he gave the other male a familiar, reassuring pat on the shoulder.

Feeling the seemingly casual yet powerful pat from Yan Lie’s hand, and hearing the reasonable explanation, the other male’s tense muscles visibly relaxed.

The wariness in his eyes mostly faded, and he even managed a smile of understanding. "So that’s what happened. It’s no..."

He hadn’t even finished the word "problem" when the situation changed again!

In that instant, just as he let his guard down, Yan Lie’s hand—the same one that had just patted his shoulder—shot up again at a speed the naked eye could barely follow. It formed a knife-hand and, with precisely controlled force, chopped down swiftly on the back of his neck!

"You..." The male Beastman’s eyes widened in utter shock and disbelief. His pupils contracted sharply, and he only had time to force out a single, muffled sound before his consciousness, like a snuffed-out candle flame, was plunged into darkness.

His body went limp and he pitched forward.

However, Yan Lie had apparently anticipated this. His other strong arm was already in position, catching the man’s heavy body the moment he collapsed and preventing the sound of a fall.

The entire sequence, from pretense to attack, was clean and efficient, taking only a few breaths.

Bai Wanwan immediately strode out from the shadows and went to Yan Lie’s side. Looking at the unconscious Beastman held easily by Yan Lie, she let out a long sigh of relief. Then she looked up, gave Yan Lie an approving smile, and raised a thumb.

"Well done, Yan Lie!"

Thankfully, Yan Lie reacted quickly enough, and his acting was convincing. He used a small misunderstanding to lower the man’s guard, avoiding a potential violent conflict and unnecessary commotion.

If he had simply attacked by force just now, he could have subdued him, but there was no guarantee it wouldn’t have made a bigger scene or even injured the man.

It was best to find all these controlled Beastmen silently, so as not to cause panic among the Tiger Clan Beastmen.

Receiving his female’s praise, Yan Lie broke into a slightly smug smile. He carefully adjusted his posture, hoisting the unconscious Beastman more securely onto his shoulder, and asked in a low voice, "Wanwan, what’s the next step?"

Bai Wanwan’s gaze swept over the silent surroundings before she spoke directly, "Yin Ze, you keep watch up ahead. Warn us if anyone comes."

"Okay." Yin Ze’s reply was short. He moved a few steps away without a sound, vigilantly observing their surroundings.

"Yan Lie, help me hold him up."

Yan Lie acted at once, steadying the Beastman.

Without delay, Bai Wanwan took out a Potion from her System Space that could nullify the Dark Energy’s control. She carefully poured ten milliliters into the man’s mouth.

Seeing the Potion slide smoothly down his throat, Bai Wanwan checked with the System again before finally breathing a true sigh of relief.

"That should do it," she said with a smile to Yan Lie, instructing him softly, "Take him to the main path, wake him up before you leave, and try your best to dispel any suspicion he might have."

"Alright, Wanwan. I’ll be right back."

With that, he hoisted the Beastman up and disappeared from Bai Wanwan’s sight with extremely quick steps.

Noticing this, Yin Ze slowly moved back to Bai Wanwan’s side. "Is it handled?"

Bai Wanwan smiled and nodded. "Yes. From now on, as long as we can find all the controlled Beastmen like this without a sound and break their control, we just need to unite against the outside threat. The Tiger Clan definitely won’t be destroyed by those dark forces."

Yin Ze squeezed her hand. "Yes, the Tiger Clan will be fine."

Since it wasn’t far, Yan Lie quickly returned to their side. "It’s getting late, Wanwan. We should head back, or Xin Feng and the others will worry."

Everything was settled, so there was no reason to linger. "Alright, let’s go back."

The two males flanked her as they hurried back home. Before they got close, they saw Hua Han walking toward them, his tall, slender figure looking somewhat anxious in the darkness.

The moment he saw Bai Wanwan, he visibly relaxed, the worry in his fox-like eyes fading. "Why are you back so late? I was just about to go looking for you."

Bai Wanwan gave him a reassuring smile and took his arm. "Don’t worry. We found a Beastman controlled by Dark Energy, and it took a little time to handle it."

As she spoke, she walked inside and brought up another important matter. "By the way, I want to build another wall around the Cub Garden. Only the males on guard duty will be allowed inside; everyone else can only patrol the perimeter."

Hua Han was always one to grant her requests. "Alright, I’ll tell the construction Beastmen tomorrow. As for the Beastmen Chou Rong sent to stand guard, I’ve already divided them into four teams to watch over the Cub Garden in shifts, just as you asked. Plus, one of us will always be here overseeing things. Wanwan, you can rest assured. Even if the entire Tiger Clan has a problem, the Cub Garden won’t."

Hearing this, a look of genuine relief and satisfaction finally appeared on Bai Wanwan’s tired face.
