Chapter 591: Chapter 588: Possessiveness

The stiffness instantly melted away, replaced by obvious guilt as her eyes began to dart about.

"Why the long face? Are you unhappy to see me?" Chou Rong’s voice was steady, betraying no emotion, yet it made Bai Wanwan’s skin crawl more than a direct accusation would have.

Her heart sank. ’I’m screwed,’ she thought. ’Last night in the woods with Zhu Xiu... did he see us?’

She quickly regrouped, forcing a smile brighter than the morning sun. Wrapping her soft arms around his neck, her voice became sweet enough to drip honey. "How could that be? Seeing you is like the warmest sunshine pouring into my heart..."

"...like the thrill of the warm season’s arrival, that very instant the flowers burst into bloom..."

She began to rack her brain, showering him with the most extravagant praise she could think of, trying to bury him in a deluge of flattery.

Perhaps her words were too over-the-top, or perhaps her desperate-to-please expression amused him, but the corners of Chou Rong’s tense mouth finally lifted in a barely perceptible smirk.

He lifted a hand, gripping her delicate chin with his fingertips. The pressure was light but left no room for refusal, forcing her to look up and meet his deep gaze.

"So this is the sweet little mouth you use," he murmured, his thumb caressing her lower lip. His gaze was scorching and possessive, as if trying to devour her very soul. "The one you use to coax every male into wanting to rip out their own hearts for you?"

Stared down by his aggressive gaze, Bai Wanwan’s heart skipped a few beats. She felt like she was about to fall into the vortex deep within his eyes.

Steeling herself, she simply blinked at him, a deliberately flirtatious charm mixed into her smile. The upturned corners of her eyes were like invisible hooks, tugging precisely on Chou Rong’s heartstrings. "And what about you? Are you willing to give me your life?"

Chou Rong’s Adam’s apple bobbed, the darkness in his eyes deepening. "Not my life," he said, his voice hoarse with a firm promise and scorching passion. "But I’ll give you everything else."

Before the words were even out, he swooped down, capturing those red lips that had been parting and closing to utter such tempting words, sealing all that was unsaid within a deep kiss.

His large, rough hands moved with undeniable force, easily tearing aside the clothes that were already disheveled from a night’s sleep...

The sunlight grew warmer, and shadows danced within the room.

Skin met skin, a collision of scorching heat and cool softness that sent a fine tremor through her.

His kisses were like a brand, full of indisputable possession, trailing from her lips to her neck and then to deeper territory. Everywhere he touched, a spark seemed to ignite a wildfire.

She was a small boat tossed on the waves, losing all sense of direction in the rhythmic rocking. All she could do was rely on instinct, clinging tightly to the only piece of driftwood in front of her.

Her fingers traced paths across his firm back, leaving faint red marks—a silent invitation, and proof of her own spiraling loss of control.

The air grew thick with the moist, heady scent of passion...

Her consciousness drifted in and out, tossed in a searing vortex where all thought was shredded and dissolved.

Nothing remained but the most primal sensations and their tight entanglement...

After a long while, the fierce tide of passion within the stone room finally began to subside.

Bai Wanwan was too exhausted to even open her eyes. Her entire body felt like it had been taken apart and put back together, her legs so weak they could barely support her.

The male on top of her, however, was still full of energy. A flame of insatiable desire danced in his deep eyes; he clearly wasn’t finished.

Sensing his renewed interest, alarm bells went off in Bai Wanwan’s head. She quickly placed a weak hand against his solid chest, her voice, raspy from their lovemaking, taking on a soft, pleading tone. "Tonight... How about tonight? If we keep going, it’ll be dark again before we know it. I... I want to go see the cubs."

She felt a pang of guilt. She had only just returned to the tribe and hadn’t even had a chance to catch her breath, yet she had already spent nearly a full day entangled with two of her Beast Husbands.

Chou Rong let out a low, dissatisfied grunt. His instincts screamed at him not to let her go, but reason told him that for the sake of long-term "sustainability," a brief rest was indeed necessary.

He fought down his roiling desire and finally, slowly, loosened his hold on her. His large hands, however, remained clasped around her slender waist—a waist so slim he could encircle it with one hand—not letting go just yet.

"You said you would spend the next few days with me," he said, lowering his head until the tip of his nose almost brushed against hers. His gaze was fiery as he stared at her, his tone a deliberate reminder. "Don’t forget."

His stubbornness was both amusing and endearing, and Bai Wanwan’s heart softened. She lifted her aching arms to cup his chiseled face and placed a soft, placating kiss on his lips. Her voice was gentle and sweet. "Okay, I remember. Tonight, tomorrow night, the night after that... my room is only for you."

She gave him a clear promise, hoping the exclusive rights to her for the next few days would be enough to quell his current restlessness.

This promise clearly pleased Chou Rong.

The shadows in his eyes receded a little. Finally, truly satisfied, he released his hold and allowed her to leave.

The moment she was free, Bai Wanwan scrambled out from under him, moving so quickly it was as if she feared that if she delayed by even a second, this insatiable tiger would change his mind, drag her back to the stone bed, and keep her there all day.

Chou Rong leaned back against the beast-pelt mat, his gaze deep as he watched his female hastily and clumsily pull on her clothes.

Her frame was delicate, her waist so slender it seemed he could snap it with the slightest pressure from one hand. And yet, her curves were full and lush, utterly irresistible.

He watched the red marks his passion had left on her delicate skin, and the color of his eyes deepened a few shades.

He had never known that the self-control he prided himself on could be so fragile in her presence. Just watching her get dressed was enough to make the heat he had just quelled threaten to flare up again.

It took all his willpower to resist the urge to pull her back into his arms. He could only watch as she finished dressing, turned to give him a placating smile that made her eyes curve into crescents, and then darted out of the room like a light butterfly.

Her figure quickly vanished from the doorway. Chou Rong shifted his position, suppressing the desire that was already rising again.

He let out a slow, hot breath and rubbed the bridge of his nose, feeling a sense of helplessness at the intensity of his own desire.

He forced the recurring images from his mind, and after a long moment of composing himself, it finally had some effect.

He snatched up a robe, quickly wrapped it around himself, and strode out the door.

With the arrival of the new Beastmen, there were a mountain of tribal affairs to attend to. He had to deal with them as quickly as possible so he would have enough time to spend with Wanwan.

Before he left, Chou Rong saw in the distance that Xin Feng and Yin Ze were by Wanwan’s side, with the cubs gathered at her knees.

It was a beautiful, harmonious scene, but Chou Rong simply closed his eyes.

He was discovering that the more he cared for Wanwan, the less he could bear to see her smiling so sweetly at other males...
