Chapter 57: Chapter 57: Die Together

"No, thankfully you came just in time."

Bai Wanwan was relieved. For Xin Feng to find this place and sneak in, he had completely risked his own life.

At that moment, even Bai Wanwan, who wasn’t quick to trust, was moved. Her trust in him deepened.

With the crisis averted for now, Bai Wanwan’s thoughts turned to her lost cub.

She glanced at him. "What about the tiger cub? Did you find him?"

Xin Feng’s eyes, which had been bright since he found her, suddenly dimmed.

"Wanwan, I’m sorry. I’ve looked everywhere, but I couldn’t find the tiger cub."

Bai Wanwan couldn’t help but press her lips together tightly.

Although she hadn’t been prepared to be a mother at first, she had still carried them for dozens of days before giving birth.

And she had nursed them for some time after.

The adorable little tiger cub was just gone, just like that. She felt as if a piece of her own flesh had been carved out.

She had never felt so miserable...

"Wanwan..."

Sensing the shift in her mood, Xin Feng walked to her side and put an arm around her shoulders. "I’ve looked everywhere. I didn’t find the tiger cub, but I also didn’t find any sign that he’d been harmed. Maybe... maybe he’s still alive. After I get you out of here, I’ll search everywhere again."

’Right, finding nothing is actually a good thing in a way. At least there’s still some hope.’

"So when are we leaving?" She looked up, meeting his eyes.

"We’ll wait until it’s dark. Once the Wandering Beasts are asleep, it will be easier for me to get you out."

"Okay, we’ll wait for nightfall."

After staying in Yin Da’s residence for a little while longer, Xin Feng said, "The smell of blood in this stone house is starting to fade. I can’t stay any longer, or my scent will be detected."

Bai Wanwan didn’t want him to go. She held his hand and asked, "Then where will you go? How will I find you later?"

He raised his arms again and pulled her into a comforting embrace. "I’ll be nearby. You don’t need to find me. I won’t leave."

Only then did Bai Wanwan feel at ease. "Then be careful. You can’t let them find you."

She had witnessed firsthand how cruel those Wandering Beasts were over the past few days.

She was safe for the time being, but if Xin Feng were discovered, his fate would be terrible.

He was the first Beast Husband she had accepted; she didn’t want him to fall into danger.

Xin Feng nodded. "Wait for me."

Then he left quickly.

Not long after he slipped out, Yin Da returned.

’That was a close call,’ Bai Wanwan thought, but her face wore its signature smile. "You’re back already? Did you find anything out for me?"

"I did. I’ve already sent people to look for it."

After a pause, he added, "We just raided a caravan from a medium-sized tribe. The goods will be brought back tomorrow. You can take your pick of whatever you want."

He sat down on a stone stool, his fierce expression softening considerably.

Bai Wanwan sat down next to him. ’I’m leaving soon,’ she thought. To avoid any complications, she decided to act even more enthusiastic.

Her voice was unbelievably gentle. "Yin Da, you’re so incredible! So much stronger than any of the males in our Cat Clan!"

Yin Da clearly enjoyed that, a comfortable, relaxed look in his eyes.

"As long as you’re always this obedient, I’ll give you anything you want."

’He can’t give me what I really want,’ Bai Wanwan thought.

The first thing was to leave Wandering Beast City.

She didn’t like anything about this place.

But her eyes curved into crescents as she smiled, as if she were overjoyed. "Really? As long as you’re good to me, I’ll always be good to you, too."

Yin Da, emotionally satisfied, reached out and stroked her face. "Are you hungry? I’ll have someone bring you food."

She nodded obediently. "I’m hungry."

Yin Da quickly had someone deliver some Snow Beast Meat.

Although Snow Beast Meat didn’t contain as much energy as that of Unicorns, its texture was excellent. It melted in the mouth like ice cream, with a hint of savory sweetness.

Because it wasn’t gamy and foul like other raw meats, and was instead more like sashimi, Bai Wanwan was able to eat it.

Snow Beasts weren’t just delicious; they were also rare and extremely difficult to hunt.

In Wandering Beast City, only the City Lord and a few other leaders could eat it whenever they pleased.

But now, there was Bai Wanwan.

After Yin Da finished eating, a Wandering Beast came to see him about something, and he got up to leave.

Bai Wanwan quickly fed the remaining Snow Beast Meat to the cubs.

’I wonder if Xin Feng has had a decent meal these past few days?’

After a long wait, the sky finally began to darken.

"Wanwan, come out."

It was Xin Feng’s voice.

Bai Wanwan was already prepared. She immediately picked up the basket with the cubs and hurried out.

Xin Feng emerged from behind the stone house and waved to her. "Wanwan, over here."

She took a few steps forward. Xin Feng took her hand and enveloped her in his Talent Power.

"Let’s go."

Bai Wanwan looked curiously at the white, misty substance that had appeared around her body.

"What is this?"

"This is my Talent Power. It will dampen our scents."

Beastmen were extremely sensitive to scent. If not for the boost from his Talent Power, he would never have been able to sneak in.

He probably would have been discovered the moment he entered Wandering Beast City.

Xin Feng seemed to be very familiar with the terrain. He led her on a winding path, and they soon left the very center of the Beast City.

Suddenly, three Wandering Beastmen appeared up ahead. Xin Feng quickly pulled her behind a nearby stone house to hide.

The three Wandering Beastmen approached, talking as they walked.

Not far from them, they suddenly stopped.

"This time it was a caravan from a medium-sized tribe. I hear they had a lot of valuable goods."

"Valuable goods? We don’t lack those... what we lack are females. That caravan didn’t have any females... That Bai Wanwan they brought back last time, they said she was a Holy Female. The City Lord kept her all to himself and didn’t even let us have a taste..."

"Shut your mouth! If you don’t want to live, don’t drag us down with you."

Seeing that they weren’t leaving, Bai Wanwan shot Xin Feng a look, signaling for him to take another path.

The voices behind them slowly faded into the distance. They crept forward cautiously, staying close to the base of the wall.

CREAK...

A wooden door was pushed open, and footsteps emerged from the stone house.

Xin Feng pulled her to hide again, only to find the hiding spot was only big enough for one person.

Bai Wanwan acted decisively, shoving Xin Feng into the spot.

It all happened so fast that Xin Feng couldn’t stop her in time.

"Bai Wanwan?"

Zhu Xiu’s voice came from behind her.

Bai Wanwan saw Xin Feng tense as if to make a move and quickly blinked at him, signaling him not to do anything rash.

After seeing that Xin Feng didn’t move, Bai Wanwan slowly turned around.

"Second-in-Command, what a coincidence. Out for a stroll?"

’Of all the paths we could have taken, we just had to circle around right to his front door,’ Bai Wanwan lamented internally. ’This is just my luck.’

"Yes, out for a stroll... Is the Holy Female also out for a stroll?"

’Is he being sarcastic with me?’

She instinctively tried to look at him, but it was too dark to see his expression clearly.

"Yes, I seem to have taken a wrong turn. I’ll head back now."

With that, Bai Wanwan started to leave.

But before her foot could land, Zhu Xiu grabbed her hand. "You’re going the wrong way. You should be going this way."

He pulled, and Bai Wanwan stumbled two steps closer to him.

"I’m just wandering around. I’m not going that way."

Once she steadied herself, Bai Wanwan tried to pull her hand free.

Zhu Xiu suddenly let out a soft chuckle. "You’re sure you don’t want to go this way?"

’Xin Feng is still hiding there,’ Bai Wanwan thought. ’If I go with Zhu Xiu, this whole escape will have been for nothing!’

"Yes, I’m not going that way. I’d like to walk by myself a while longer."

But Zhu Xiu ignored her, gripping her wrist and pulling her forward.

"Second-in-Command, didn’t you understand what I said?" Unable to break free, she was getting annoyed.

Without turning his head, Zhu Xiu said, "If you go back, that male and you will both die."
