Chapter 524 - 521: Something’s Not Quite Right
Chapter 524: Chapter 521: Something’s Not Quite Right
The two good friends happily held each other’s hands. Bai Wanwan smiled and introduced Shuang Hua to Shi Hua, "Shi Hua, this is Aunt Shuang. She’s like a Mother to me."
Shuang Hua looked lovingly at the vibrant young female before her, greeting her with a kind smile. "Good child, I’ve often heard Wanwan mention you. You’re a truly delightful female."
Shi Hua blushed, feeling a bit shy. She quickly and enthusiastically ushered them in. "Hello, Aunt Shuang! Sister Wanwan, don’t just stand outside! Please, come in and sit down! We can talk inside!"
Stepping aside, she warmly welcomed the honored guests, who had traveled from afar, into her cozy home.
The room was indeed bustling with activity. Several half-grown cubs were chasing each other playfully, letting out excited yips and low growls.
Bai Wanwan looked closer and saw two dog cubs with gray-black fur and alert eyes, along with two round-headed Golden Lion cubs that already had a hint of their future formidable might.
A thought crossed her mind. She immediately realized the two lively lion cubs must be the ones born after she gave Shi Hua the Fertility Pill.
Shi Hua also noticed the trail of little followers tagging along behind Bai Wanwan—spirited little tiger cubs and Little Phoenixes of various colors. Her eyes widened, and she exclaimed in sincere admiration, "Sister Wanwan, you’re truly amazing!"
She had heard people talk about the Holy Female of the Golden Lion Clan, but none were as incredible as Sister Wanwan.
Not only did she have more cubs than the Holy Female, but each one was also so healthy, lively, and exceptionally talented.
Bai Wanwan gave her a playful wink, her tone half-joking yet brimming with confidence. "It’s nothing. If you want to have more, you can have as many as you like."
She now had three Red Rank Beast Husbands by her side—Zhu Xiu, Yin Ze, and Jin Yi—and an abundance of System Points. Although some of her earlier cubs still needed their Talent slowly enhanced with Points, the amount required to exchange for a Fertility Pill was now a drop in the ocean for her.
"Cubs, come over here," Bai Wanwan said with a smile, beckoning to Shi Hua’s little ones.
Shi Hua quickly called out to her own playful cubs with a smile, "What are you waiting for? Come here and say hello to Aunt Bai! These are all your little brothers and sisters."
The half-grown cubs gathered around curiously. Though still full of youthful mischief, they could already speak clearly, calling out "Aunt Bai" in a ragged chorus. Their voices were so crisp and young that Bai Wanwan’s heart melted, and her eyes curved into crescents as she smiled.
She examined the cubs carefully and asked Shi Hua with concern, "How is their Talent Power?"
At the mention of this, a faint look of sorrow crossed Shi Hua’s face, and she sighed softly. "Sigh... It’s probably my fault. I’ve dragged the children down. Their Father Beasts’ Talent Power isn’t weak—the lowest is Green Rank—but the cubs... the highest is only Cyan Rank."
In the Beast World, where strength was revered, a cub’s Talent was often a female’s greatest source of anxiety.
Bai Wanwan squeezed her hand, comforting her softly. "Don’t worry. The cubs are still young; they have long lives ahead of them. Maybe they’ll have their own lucky breaks and find opportunities to advance their ranks later on."
She had no intention of using the system to raise the cubs’ ranks just yet.
’The cubs were still too young; a rank that was too high wasn’t entirely a good thing for them. What if a malicious beastman discovers them and captures them to find out how they ranked up?’
’When they come of age and need to show their strength to pursue a mate they desire, that will be the best time.’
Shi Hua had almost blind faith in Bai Wanwan. Hearing her words, the sorrow on her face mostly vanished. She nodded vigorously. "Yes! If you say so, Sister Wanwan, then it must be true! I’ll listen to you!"
The warm season had arrived, and the weather grew steadily warmer.
Sunlight streamed through the window lattice, casting golden patches of light on the beast-skin-covered floor.
The air was filled with the aroma of roasted meat and the faint scent of firewood—the uniquely comforting smell of Shi Hua’s house.
They sat together, sharing interesting stories and news from their time apart.
Shi Hua animatedly recounted the latest news from the clan, her eyes sparkling when she reached the exciting parts.
Suddenly, she changed the subject. Her gaze fell upon Shuang Hua, who had been listening from the side with a gentle smile, and her tone grew emotional and sincere.
"Aunt Shuang, you don’t know," Shi Hua began, her voice holding a barely perceptible catch—a mix of bitterness from past memories and appreciation for her current happiness. "My fertility was poor, and the clan was planning to send me to the Female Cave... Back then, I felt like my world was collapsing. I thought my life was over."
As she spoke, she couldn’t help but reach out and grip Bai Wanwan’s hand, her eyes filled with endless gratitude. "If I hadn’t met Sister Wanwan, who not only healed my body but also... gave me the hope of becoming a Mother, how could I possibly have my own beloved Beast Husband and these strong, mischievous little ones now?"
As she spoke, her gaze softened, turning to her own cubs playing in the yard with Sister Wanwan’s little ones.
Shuang Hua listened intently, her finely-lined face a mixture of compassion and relief.
She reached out and lovingly patted the back of Shi Hua’s hand, her voice as gentle as a warm spring breeze. "Dear child, the past is in the past. What’s most important is that you’re living well now. And if you ask me, it’s because you, Huahua, are a good, kind, and resilient female yourself. That’s why Wanwan was so willing to put her heart into helping you."
Shuang Hua’s words were perfectly soothing, affirming Shi Hua’s character while also praising Bai Wanwan’s judgment.
Shi Hua grew embarrassed, her cheeks flushing as she quickly shook her head. "Please, Aunt Shuang, don’t praise me. It’s all because Sister Wanwan has been so good to me. I could never repay her for all the help she’s given me in my entire life."
While the females were engrossed in their heartwarming conversation, the powerful male Beast Husbands had naturally gathered on the other side of the room.
Their conversation wasn’t about household matters like the females’. Instead, the topic naturally shifted to what they had observed on their journey and the current situation in the clan.
Yin Ze took a sip of the water Shi Hua’s Beast Husband had handed him. His phoenix-like eyes narrowed slightly as he broke the silence among the males, his voice low and probing. "On the way back... did any of you notice? The Golden Lion Clan has a lot of Foreign Beastmen."
Zhu Xiu leaned against the wall, his posture deceptively relaxed, but his eyes scanned the world outside the window like a precision radar. He merely grunted a soft "Mm," in response, indicating he had noticed, too.
Yan Lie, who was teasing a small dog cub at his feet with a strip of jerky, looked up nonchalantly, his hair swaying with the motion. "Large clans always have lots of outsiders. Beastmen who come to trade, seek protection, or are just passing through. Isn’t that normal? What’s the problem?"
He was more straightforward and hadn’t thought about it too deeply.
