Chapter 515: Chapter 512: Misunderstanding

Jiao Yin was reignited by her sudden initiative. He instantly cast aside the disturbance outside the door, drowning in her passion.

A long, long time passed—so long that Hua Han had nearly turned into a statue of despair outside—before the door was finally opened from within.

Jiao Yin stood in the doorway, his handsome features glowing with unprecedented satisfaction and happiness. His entire being seemed nourished, making him shine even more radiantly.

He saw Hua Han outside the door and remembered it was thanks to him that his wish had been fulfilled.

"Hua Han, thank you..."

Hua Han’s lips curved into a bitter smile. "For Wanwan to accept you... it means she has feelings for you."

Hua Han’s words made Jiao Yin even happier, but he could tell Hua Han wasn’t in a good mood.

"You..."

Before he could finish, Hua Han had already brushed past him and headed inside.

Inside the room, Bai Wanwan had already draped herself in a long gown made of Jue Sha. But under the soft glow of the pearls, the suggestive red marks and hickeys on her neck, chest, and even her arms were still clearly visible, a silent testament to their recent lovemaking.

Hua Han felt as if his heart had been viciously squeezed. He forced himself to remain calm and squeezed out a smile that looked more pained than a grimace. His voice was hoarse as he asked, "Wanwan... y-you’re awake? How are you feeling? Does your head still hurt?"

He tried to feign ignorance, his tone laced with a guilty conscience.

Bai Wanwan ignored him, not even deigning to spare him a glance. She walked straight to the clothes nearby and began to dress in silence with her back turned to him.

Seeing this, Hua Han’s anxiety peaked.

He cautiously took a step closer and asked, "Wanwan... you had two cups of Monkey Wine earlier and felt a little dizzy, so I helped you lie down. I-I stepped out for a bit, and when I came back, I found you and Jiao Yin... Wh-what exactly happened?"

He was trying to muddy the waters and pretend he had only just learned what happened.

Bai Wanwan tied her sash, sat down on a nearby Coral Stool, and finally lifted her gaze to him.

Her gaze was placid, but it held an all-knowing chill that made Hua Han feel as if he had been plunged into an icy abyss.

"Is that all you have to say?" Her voice was so soft it was impossible to tell if she was angry.

Hua Han’s heart was in turmoil. ’He couldn’t read her expression at all.’

"Um... I-I was just worried about you..." He forced a nod and stepped forward, trying to change the subject. "Are you tired? H-how about I give your shoulders a rub to help you relax?"

As he spoke, he reached out, his long, slender fingers just about to touch her delicate shoulders.

Before he could touch her, Bai Wanwan spoke. "Take your hand away."

Hua Han’s hand froze in mid-air, the smile on his face finally crumbling. "Aren’t... aren’t you tired? You look exhausted..."

"If I’m tired, I have my Beast Husband to give me a massage." Bai Wanwan’s tone was utterly devoid of warmth.

Hua Han’s heart leaped into his throat, and a wave of immense panic seized him. "Wanwan... w-what do you mean by that?"

Bai Wanwan turned to face him directly, meeting his gaze and giving him no chance to escape. "Hua Han, I’ve always known you to be a cunning and deeply calculating person. But I never imagined you’d turn those schemes on me!"

She paused, each word landing like a shard of ice. "Why did I end up in bed with Jiao Yin? You know the answer better than anyone, don’t you?"

Hua Han looked as if he’d been struck by lightning. His eyes flew wide, and all the color drained from his face.

’He’d given Wanwan the wine specifically to create plausible deniability. He wanted to avoid her anger when she found out he had engineered this opportunity for her and Jiao Yin.’

"Wanwan, I..."

’He couldn’t tell if Wanwan was just trying to trick him or if she really knew what he had done.’

’But it was just Monkey Wine. It only made her a little dizzy, and the effect would have worn off after a short rest.’

’Even if Wanwan had been unwilling, he’d still done his part by creating the opportunity for Jiao Yin.’

’If it succeeded, everyone would be happy.’

’If it failed, he had a ready-made excuse.’

’But this current situation was something he had never imagined.’

"Wanwan, I really didn’t do it!" he argued frantically, his voice filled with incredulous panic and a sense of being wronged.

Just then, Zhu Xiu, Xin Feng, and Jin Yi, who had been out, happened to return.

The moment they stepped inside, they sensed the terrifyingly tense atmosphere. Seeing Hua Han’s pale face and Wanwan’s frigid expression, they knew at once that something had happened.

Xin Feng was the first to react, trying to ease the tension. He held up the fresh, butchered meat in his hand and said gently, "We got lucky today and hunted some plump, tender Land Beasts. Wanwan, I’ll grill them for you and the cubs later for a change of pace."

However, at this moment, nothing could dispel the stagnant atmosphere.

Hua Han’s heart continued to sink. ’The other males can’t find out about this.’

’Otherwise, the situation will be impossible to contain.’

"Wanwan, can we talk alone? Just the two of us..." he asked, his voice laced with a pleading tone.

"No," Bai Wanwan refused him flatly, leaving no room for negotiation.

She turned to Zhu Xiu and Jin Yi, her tone as sharp as steel and filled with irrefutable finality. "Get him out of here. From now on... I never want to see him again."

That single sentence, like a final judgment, cast Hua Han completely into the abyss.

Although Zhu Xiu and Jin Yi weren’t entirely sure what had happened, they knew that for Wanwan to speak with such finality—to the point of banishing him from her sight forever—he must have committed an unforgivable crime.

With their gazes turning sharp, the two men immediately moved forward, seizing Hua Han by his arms from either side.

"Wanwan!" Hua Han was in a full-blown panic. He struggled and screamed, his eyes instantly turning bloodshot. "Didn’t you promise... you’d let me stay by your side forever?"

But Bai Wanwan had already turned her back on him.

’Her heart felt like it was submerged in ice water.’

’Her feelings for Hua Han might not have been as deep as those for her other Beast Husbands, but she had never planned to treat him unfairly. She had been willing to slowly cultivate their relationship and strive to balance her love among them all.’

’But she had never, ever imagined that this cunning fox would ultimately turn his schemes on her.’

’Using such a despicable trick!’

’He had utterly crossed her bottom line, filling her with incomparable rage and a sense of betrayal.’

The sounds of a scuffle erupted outside. Hua Han was clearly not going down without a fight, attempting to resist and explain himself.

But Zhu Xiu and Jin Yi were far stronger than him, and the commotion quickly subsided.

In the end, Hua Han was mercilessly dragged away and thrown out of the Merfolk Palace.

「Over the next two days」

Hua Han refused to give up. He tried time and again to find an opportunity to approach and explain himself, but Zhu Xiu and Jin Yi stood guard, preventing any access. During one attempt to force his way in, they even ended up injuring him.

By the time Jiao Yin heard what was happening and rushed over, the fight was already over. Only the faint smell of blood lingered in the air, and Hua Han was nowhere to be found.

He strode into the palace and came before Bai Wanwan, his voice laced with worry and uncertainty. "Wanwan... I heard that your other Beast Husbands drove Hua Han away? And... that they injured him? What in the world happened?"
