Delicate Villainess, Desperate Males – A Beast World Reverse Harem
Chapter 51: King Cobra Zhu Xiu
Chapter 51: Chapter 51: King Cobra Zhu Xiu
Bai Wanwan felt alternating waves of cold and heat. She was utterly miserable.
Faintly, a BUZZING sound droned on and on in her ears.
"Host, Host, wake up."
Bai Wanwan heard it, but her body felt too heavy to wake up.
"Host..."
’Stop shouting, I hear you.’
She didn’t just hear the system’s voice; she could also hear Roger anxiously calling her name.
Her head throbbed even more...
"The Host is running a high fever. If it gets too high, it’ll damage your brain..."
’This is bad!’ Instantly, Bai Wanwan forgot all about her irritation at hearing Roger’s voice.
’Then what do I do? Does the System Mall have any fever medicine?’
"Yes, but it costs three hundred Points."
’Thank goodness. I still have over eight hundred.’
’Can you redeem one and feed it to me? My body feels so heavy, I don’t think I can move.’
"I’m sorry, Host. Only you can operate the interface. You’ll just have to try your best to wake up."
Seeing no other way, Bai Wanwan gritted her teeth and struggled with all her might.
Her mental struggle finally elicited a small physical response.
Having worried all night, Roger was overjoyed when he finally saw Bai Wanwan stir. "Bai Wanwan, are you awake?" he exclaimed.
As he shook her back and forth, she nearly passed out again.
She wanted to scream "Stop shaking me!" but her body reacted on its own, and her hand flew out to slap him.
It landed right on his face as he leaned in, but the blow was weak and powerless.
When she opened her eyes, she saw Roger holding her hand, his face filled with joyful surprise. "Bai Wanwan, you’re awake? There are no tribes around here, so I can’t take you to a Witch Doctor. Just hang in there a little longer."
That night, Roger had been filled with immense self-blame and regret.
Bai Wanwan was a Holy Female, the most precious female on the entire Beast World Continent. She should have been living in a Super Tribe, protected by the most powerful Beastmen, safe from even the slightest hint of danger.
But that night, she had not only been terrified but also battered by the wind and snow all night long.
It wasn’t that he hadn’t considered taking her to find a tribal Witch Doctor.
But the night was fraught with danger. If he had to continuously use his Talent Power to shield her, he would be defenseless should they encounter Wandering Beastmen.
It was better for her to tough it out here than to fall into their hands.
Thankfully... she was awake.
Bai Wanwan didn’t even look at him. She weakly pulled her hand away and, while he was distracted, opened the interface. She stealthily went to the medicine tab, found the fever-reducing pill, and quickly redeemed it, closing her fist around it.
"I think I hear something outside. Quick, go take a look."
Bai Wanwan’s words immediately diverted Roger’s attention. He got up and walked toward the mouth of the cave.
Bai Wanwan seized the opportunity to quickly toss the pill into her mouth.
After swallowing, she leaned back weakly against the cave wall.
It was as if all her strength had been drained away. She could even feel how scorching hot her breath was.
After carefully observing from the entrance for a while, Roger walked back and reassured her, "You must have misheard. There’s nothing out there."
Bai Wanwan’s eyelids drooped. "Then maybe..."
At that moment, the pill seemed to be taking effect. She felt a current flowing through her body.
Gradually, her body no longer felt as limp as cotton, and her strength began to return.
Roger walked to her side and squatted down, reaching out to touch her forehead...
Just then, the cubs started fussing in their basket. Bai Wanwan ignored him completely, turning to scoop them up.
The cubs hadn’t been near their Mother all night, and now they wriggled and nuzzled happily in her arms, seeking affection.
Seeing her hold the cubs and ignore him, Roger pressed his lips together and remained silent.
After a moment, he stood and went to one side. He cut open the beast he had killed earlier, sliced off a few of the most tender strips of meat with his claws, and walked back.
Smelling the meat, the cubs, who had been hungry all night, began to make a fuss.
They eagerly leaped from Bai Wanwan’s arms to the ground and clamped their jaws around the strips of meat in Roger’s hand.
One of the cubs was unusually large. Roger had noticed it earlier, but with her ignoring him, he hadn’t found an opportunity to ask.
"Is this... a tiger cub?"
"Mhm."
Bai Wanwan didn’t hide it. The facts were right there, so there was no use in denying it.
Roger frowned. "Isn’t your Beast Husband, Xin Feng, a Silver Wolf? So why is the cub a tiger cub?"
Bai Wanwan shot him a look. "That’s none of your business."
Roger’s mind raced. He thought of the outsider Tiger Beastman from the Cat Clan Tribe.
’He was the one who warned me to leave. Is this cub his?’
His expression changed in an instant. "Is that male, Chou Rong, also your Beast Husband?"
"No. I found this cub. It has nothing to do with him."
She didn’t want anyone else to know too much about the tiger cub.
Roger grabbed the tiger cub, holding it up to inspect it from all angles. Then, his gaze hardened. "This is that male’s cub."
He said it with absolute certainty.
Annoyed now, Bai Wanwan, her strength restored, leaped nimbly to her feet and snatched the cub from his hands.
Roger was clearly stunned for a moment before a look of pleasant surprise crossed his face. "You’re better?"
’She was so weak just a moment ago, but now her movements are so quick. Her color has returned to normal, too.’
’And when he’d touched her hand just now, it was warm, not burning hot.’
As he thought this, he raised his hand toward her forehead.
Bai Wanwan tried to dodge, but he grabbed her waist, his palm landing firmly on her forehead.
Confirming that her fever had broken, Roger looked immensely relieved.
Just then, a chaotic thundering sound came from outside the cave, as if many beasts were stampeding.
Roger’s head snapped around. "Quick, hide deeper inside," he told Bai Wanwan as he walked toward the entrance.
She didn’t need to be told. Bai Wanwan had already placed all the cubs in the basket and was now huddled with it in a recess at the very back of the cave.
Roger hadn’t expected those Wandering Beasts to catch up so quickly.
By the time he reached the mouth of the cave and looked out, dozens of Wandering Beasts had already formed a tight blockade around the entrance.
"Hand over the Holy Female!"
Only then did Roger begin to feel some regret. He shouldn’t have been greedy.
"I don’t have her."
An ugly Wandering Beast paced forward, its body as massive as a small, moving mountain.
"We’ve already eaten all the males from your caravan. You’re the last one. Your Talent should be higher, so you’ll surely taste even better."
Those words caused Roger to instantly transform into his beast form and charge out.
The mountain-like Wandering Beast let out an excited roar, its head thrown back, before lunging down to bite at Roger’s neck.
But at that very moment, a King Cobra coiled not far away flicked its tongue. "Back down!"
The Wandering Beast, so arrogant and excited just a moment ago, immediately reined in its aggression and obediently retreated to one side.
Roger’s attack landed on empty air. He turned his head toward the massive King Cobra.
The King Cobra was pitch-black, but its eyes glowed with a scarlet light.
His heart sank in an instant.
’A King Cobra...’
’This is the second-in-command of Wandering Beast City... Zhu Xiu!’
Zhu Xiu looked down on him, fixing him with a pair of scarlet eyes. "Where is the Holy Female?"
The absolute suppression of his Talent made Roger’s limbs grow weak, and he felt an unconscious urge to submit.
"I don’t know. We got separated when you were chasing us yesterday. For all I know, she’s already frozen to death..."
The King Cobra’s eyes darted, its gaze slowly moving past him to settle on the cave behind him.
