Chapter 482: Chapter 479: The Truth

At the critical moment, a deafening lion’s roar erupted!

Jin Yi’s massive Golden Lion form instantly became a blinding streak of gold, shielding Bai Wanwan at a terrifying speed.

His massive claws swung out with enough force to rip through the air, instantly disemboweling the Beastman pouncing from the side!

Yin Ze, meanwhile, moved like a phantom. When he transformed into a Phoenix, all the attacking Beastmen felt the immense pressure emanating from a male with a High Rank Talent.

"You... are both Red Rank Males?"

Even a top-tier tribe like the Flood Dragon Tribe only had two Red Rank Males.

Where did these two crawl out from?

None of the Beastmen dared to make another move. Faces filled with horror, they stared intently at Jin Yi and Yin Ze.

Killing Bai Wanwan while she was under the absolute protection of two Red Rank Males like Jin Yi and Yin Ze was a nearly impossible task.

But even though the attackers stood frozen, Jin Yi and Yin Ze showed them no mercy.

In the blink of an eye, only four terrified Beastmen remained in the dense woods.

They seemed to be pinned by an invisible pressure, like lambs to the slaughter, as Jin Yi and Yin Ze threw them before Bai Wanwan.

Dappled light and shadow played across Bai Wanwan’s face. Her voice was frighteningly calm. "Speak. How did you find me?"

Her face had clearly been altered, yet they had still found her with such precision.

This meant they were already familiar with her aura.

’In all likelihood, I’m the biological daughter of Jiao Yuan and Lan Yi, carrying the purest blood of a Flood Dragon Saintess. But bizarrely, in a Beastman World where scent is the very foundation of a bloodline, no one could smell it on me.’

’There had to be some powerful method used to interfere with it!’

"I—we don’t know what you’re talking about..." a younger male said, trying to play dumb.

A sickening CRACK! of breaking bone rang out.

Accompanied by a shriek so piercing it became distorted, Jin Yi’s claws sliced through one of the male’s arms as if it were tofu.

Blood sprayed everywhere as the severed arm tumbled to the ground.

The male writhed on the ground in agony, his cries like those of a dying beast.

Jin Yi didn’t even glance at the screaming Beastman. His icy gaze, sharp as a physical blade, shifted to another Beastman whose expression was frozen with fear. "Now, it’s your turn. Speak."

"I... We really don’t know! We were just following the Clan Leader’s orders..." the Beastman babbled incoherently, tears and snot streaming down his face.

"Following the Clan Leader’s orders?" Bai Wanwan let out a low laugh. "Then tell me, if I were to go before the Clan Leader right now and tell him I was the female child who was swapped at birth—and that only I can awaken the Life Tree—do you think he’d be overjoyed?"

The Beastmen looked as though they had been struck by lightning, their faces twisted in disbelieving terror. "You... You... You know?"

They had never imagined it. The female child who had been discarded as useless all those years ago was now this formidable. Not only did she have several Beast Husbands with Red Rank Talents, but she even knew her own true identity.

Did their plan still have any chance of succeeding?

"Of course, I know." Bai Wanwan’s smile vanished, her eyes turning sharp. "That’s why I dealt with the last two batches of trash you sent to kill me. I didn’t need to pry any answers out of them."

She paused, her tone laced with the cold indifference of one who held the power of life and death. "Now, I’ll give you a chance to live. I’m curious, what method did the person who sent you use to change my aura? The first one to tell me gets to walk away. How about it?"

"I’ll talk!" one of the males, his will completely broken, scrambled to his feet. A desperate will to live shone in his eyes. "If I talk, you... you’ll really let me go?!"

"Mm-hm." Bai Wanwan nodded, her expression blank and her eyes unreadable.

"Then... then come closer. I’ll only tell you!" The Beastman’s eyes darted about nervously.

Jin Yi’s towering form instantly moved to block Bai Wanwan. He stood like an insurmountable mountain, and the immense pressure he exuded made the Beastman’s legs go weak, nearly causing him to collapse to his knees.

"You’re in no position to make deals. Say it from where you are!"

The Beastman struggled to swallow under Jin Yi’s oppressive aura. "It’s... it’s a secret technique from our clan!"

"Your clan?" Bai Wanwan latched onto the key word. "What tribe are you from?"

At this question, the Beastman looked as if he were being strangled. His lips trembled, as if the very name of the tribe were a taboo—one that would bring utter ruin upon him if spoken.

Bai Wanwan’s patience finally wore thin. A flicker of impatient, murderous intent crossed her eyes. "Not talking? Then kill him."

Just then, a familiar and powerful aura descended without warning.

Jinying’s figure appeared silently a few meters away.

His gaze fell upon Bai Wanwan first, and the look in his eyes was indescribably complex.

It swirled with a concern so deep it was overwhelming, with pain, and with a sorrow that bordered on despair.

But the emotions remained in his eyes for only an instant, gone so fast one might have thought it an illusion.

"No need to ask them." Jinying’s voice was low and raspy, yet it had a peculiar, piercing quality that instantly drew everyone’s attention. "I know what tribe they’re from."

Bai Wanwan’s brow furrowed slightly as she looked at him, her gaze filled with scrutiny. "You know?"

"Yes." Jinying’s gaze swept over the ashen-faced Beastmen. "They’re Chameleons. The racial Talent of the Chameleon Clan is ’Mimicry.’ They can not only change their appearance and imitate other races, but their core secret technique is the disguise and interference of auras. They are born masters of camouflage."

"They aren’t our Flood Dragon Males, but Chameleons?" Shuang Hua gasped, unable to believe it because she hadn’t been able to tell at all.

The males’ faces turned deathly pale, their eyes filling with despair.

’Their identities were exposed. This meant the mission was a total failure, and that they no longer had any value.’

Bai Wanwan watched their terrified expressions, the corner of her lips hooking into a cold smile. "Too bad you couldn’t answer in time. Such a pity. In that case, let’s move on to the final question."

Her voice was as cold as falling ice. "Why exactly did you have me switched at birth all those years ago?"

"We can’t! If we talk, the Flood Dragon Clan will surely hunt us down to settle the score."

"I’ll talk! If I talk, will you let me go?"

"That depends on your performance," Bai Wanwan said, glancing at him without giving a clear yes or no.

"Don’t say it!"

But the male screamed it out anyway. "It’s because... because legends say that only a ’Pseudo Dragon’... after breaking through to the Red Rank... has a chance... a chance to become a true dragon! The Flood Dragon Clan depends on the Life Tree for its survival. Once the Life Tree withers, they are doomed to extinction! Only when they are extinct... when this continent is no longer suppressed by the true Flood Dragon bloodline... will our Chameleon Clan have the chance... to produce more Red Rank Powerhouses capable of transforming into true dragons! You are Jiao Yuan’s daughter! Your very existence is the greatest obstacle to our clan becoming true dragons!"
