Chapter 402: Chapter 402: Favoritism

"Alright, thank you for your concern, my sweet cubs."

The cubs huddled around her, curling up into a ball and pressing their heads against her. "Mother, my little brothers are so strong. He sent me flying with just one hit."

Qiu Guang was upset and envious, but also a little proud.

Such powerful cubs were his full-blooded brothers.

Bai Wanwan stroked his head. "Don’t worry. You’ll become just as strong as your brothers in the future."

Qiu Guang’s head shot up, his eyes filled with hopeful disbelief. "Really?"

But he had heard other Beastmen say that Talent Power was determined at birth.

He hadn’t realized his Talent Power was low before. It was only after sparring with his brothers that he understood how far he lagged behind.

"Mhm, trust me. When Mama promises you something, she always follows through."

Bai Wanwan held out a fist, and Qiu Guang raised his own tiger paw to bump it against his Mother’s.

His heart surged with excitement. His Mother had made two promises to him before, and she had kept them both. ’She would never lie to me!’

Bai Wanwan caressed her slightly swollen belly. ’The family needs Points for so many things. This pregnancy is crucial.’

"Mama, I want to hear a story."

"Okay," Bai Wanwan said, patting each of their heads as she carefully recalled some of the children’s bedtime stories she had once heard.

So, she told them all the classics: The Tortoise and the Hare, The Little Horse Crossing the River, Little Red Riding Hood, and more.

Who knew that instead of falling asleep, the cubs’ eyes only grew wider. They stared at her eagerly. "Mama, are there more? I want to hear another one."

Bai Wanwan racked her brain and came up with two more stories she could tell them.

Suddenly, the door was pushed open from the outside, and a tall, slender figure walked in.

"How old are you? Still clinging to your Mother?"

There was no anger in Chou Rong’s voice, but that one calm sentence was filled with such authority that the cubs instantly fell silent as cicadas in winter.

Bai Wanwan immediately gave them a reassuring hug. "Mama will be here every day from now on. If you want to hear stories, I can always tell you them. For now, listen to your Father Beast. It’s time to sleep."

The cubs immediately lowered their eyelids and started pretending to be asleep.

Seeing their adorable act, Bai Wanwan couldn’t help but chuckle. She then walked over to Chou Rong and poked his waist. "Don’t bring your ’dealing with subordinates’ attitude home. You scared the cubs."

The male seized her wrist while his other hand pressed against her slender waist. "Am I that scary?"

Bai Wanwan deliberately nodded with a smile. "Of course, you are. Didn’t you know?"

Chou Rong let out a soft snort, bent down to scoop her up, and strode out the door.

"I heard you went out today. To Beast Pet Street?"

Bai Wanwan simply wrapped her arms around his neck. "Nothing escapes your notice, huh? Mmm... I just went for a casual stroll. Why does the Super Tribe have a Beast Pet Street? I never saw any Beast Pets in Jin Yi’s tribe, and they’re a large tribe."

"Because tribes below the level of a Super Tribe have few High Rank Beastmen. In contrast, there are too many powerful individuals in the Super Tribe. To balance the various factions, the buying, selling, and raising of Beast Pets has always existed here."

’It’s quite cruel. The ones being raised and sold are almost all Beastmen with low strength.’

’No other Beastmen speak up for them. They can only endure the fate they were born into.’

"Can’t it be changed?"

she asked, lifting her head to meet his gaze.

Chou Rong looked down, his eyes locking with hers. "If you want to, you can."

After hearing his answer, she felt a pang of regret.

"Never mind. You’ve just taken over as Clan Leader, so you must have a pile of messes to deal with in the tribe. This isn’t urgent. We can take it slow."

Seeing her being considerate of him, a smile appeared on Chou Rong’s slightly weary face. "Okay. From now on, the Tiger Clan is your home. You can do whatever you want."

After he spoke, he noticed Bai Wanwan had gone silent, simply staring at him intently.

"What are you looking at?"

’His features are clearly the same as they were back then, and I can’t even see a trace of warmth in his eyes.’

’And yet, I feel like the male before me has changed somehow.’

"I was just thinking that if this were the old you, you would have stared at me in annoyance and said, ’Don’t even think about it.’"

Chou Rong glanced at her but didn’t argue.

It was true that he couldn’t bring himself to indulge her every whim like Zhu Xiu and Xin Feng did.

But as long as it didn’t violate his principles, he was willing to let her do as she pleased.

In the days that followed, the Beast Husbands became even busier—busy raising the cubs and busy felling trees to prepare for building a house.

Bai Wanwan’s belly grew more prominent by the day. The few eggs inside rolled around, causing her stomach to bulge out from time to time.

The closer she got to giving birth, the more Bai Wanwan walked around.

"Wanwan, if you’re not feeling well, let’s just stay home and rest. Don’t go out," Yan Lie said, supporting her by the hand, his handsome brows knitted together tightly.

Her abdomen had just tightened, and it was indeed a little uncomfortable, but after a moment, she felt much better.

"You don’t understand. You’re supposed to get more exercise before giving birth."

’Even though I have the system to help me give birth, just lying around will make me lose my figure.’

’In any case, more exercise is always a good thing.’

Jin Yi held her hand, staying by her side. "If you want to walk, we’ll walk with you. But if you feel uncomfortable, you have to tell us right away so we can avoid any accidents."

Bai Wanwan smiled and nodded, planting a kiss on his noble, otherworldly face. "Okay."

Seeing this, Yan Lie immediately grew jealous. He came around and pointed to his own cheek. "Wanwan, you’re playing favorites! I want one too."

Helpless, Bai Wanwan had no choice but to give him a peck on the cheek as well. Yan Lie was instantly appeased, grinning from ear to ear.

Her two Beast Husbands held her hands as they ambled slowly down the street.

As they walked, their path was blocked.

"What do you want?" Yan Lie snapped impolitely at the male blocking their way.

Bai Wanwan glanced up and got a clear look at the male. Although he wasn’t as handsome as that Merfolk, he was still exceptionally good-looking.

She had only seen him once, but she hadn’t forgotten. This was the male she had encountered the other day.

"I’ve seen you before... Why are you blocking my way?"

The other party studied her seriously for a moment, as if he had just recognized her too. A smile instantly bloomed on his face. "Yes, we have met. It’s just that you left the other day before we had a chance to speak."

"Mmm, is there something you need?"

The male took a colorful seashell box from his Beast Skin Bag. "I’m a Traveling Merchant. I have some beautiful ornaments here. If you like them, miss, would you be willing to trade for something?"

’Well, I’ve got time to kill anyway,’ she thought. The multicolored seashell he presented was indeed very beautiful, and she felt a flicker of anticipation about what might be inside the box.

"Sure! Open the shell, then. Let me see what’s inside. If I like it, I might trade with you."

The male’s eyes remained fixed on Bai Wanwan as he raised the seashell box in his hand.

However, his unwavering stare at Bai Wanwan was keenly noticed by Jin Yi.

"What are you looking at?" Jin Yi asked, his voice a clear warning.
