Chapter 353: Who Exactly Are the 4 Faces in My Mind?
Chapter 353: Chapter 353: Who Exactly Are the 4 Faces in My Mind?
Yin Ze threw all other thoughts aside and whirled around, pushing the door open to rush inside.
Bai Wanwan, who had been sitting on the stone stool, was now slumped against the wall, seemingly unconscious.
Yin Ze strode over and scooped her into his arms.
"Wanwan, Wanwan, wake up."
Yin Ze’s voice was laced with panic.
Yin Mei was frightened too and immediately called out to her Beast Husband, "Kong Lai, go get the Clan Witch! Have her come take a look at Wanwan."
Kong Lai acknowledged her and took off running at once.
Yin Ze lifted Bai Wanwan from the stone stool, calling her name over and over again, but no matter how loud he shouted, she remained unresponsive.
"Yin Ze, try not to panic. Let’s put Wanwan on the stone bed."
The two siblings carefully tended to Bai Wanwan until the Clan Witch arrived.
Yin Ze immediately stood up to make way. "Clan Witch, please, take a look at Wanwan. She suddenly collapsed."
"Alright, don’t you worry. Let me see."
The Clan Witch walked to the stone bed, sat down, and placed a hand on her forehead.
After a long moment, the Clan Witch let out a puzzled "Hm?" and said, "There’s nothing wrong with her body."
"Nothing wrong? Then why can’t we wake her up?" Yin Ze was clearly not reassured.
"Perhaps she is unwilling to wake up on her own. Let her sleep a while longer. She might wake up when she’s had enough rest."
Yin Ze turned to look at her. "Is she really okay? Just sleeping?"
"Yes. Don’t worry."
Yin Mei smiled and stepped forward. "I’ll see you out, then."
After Yin Mei saw the Clan Witch out, Yin Ze slowly sat back down beside Bai Wanwan.
Her beautiful face had lost its usual vibrancy as she lay there quietly.
"Wanwan, the Clan Witch said you’re fine. You’re really okay, aren’t you?"
Yin Ze couldn’t help but take her hand in his. "If you wake up, I’ll let you play your tricks on me. I promise I won’t even try to dodge, okay?"
But the female lying on the stone bed offered him no response.
Throughout the night, Yin Mei came to check on them several times, telling him to get some rest while she watched over Wanwan.
But Yin Ze stubbornly refused to leave.
"Sister, I’m not tired. I have to watch her, or I won’t be at ease."
Yin Mei had no choice but to leave for the time being.
Kong Lai draped a Beast Skin Skirt over her shoulders. "Be careful not to catch a cold. Yin Ze has fallen for that little female."
It wasn’t a question, but a statement.
The corners of Yin Mei’s mouth twitched into a faint smile. "This is the first time Yin Ze has ever liked a female. I like Wanwan, too. I hope she wakes up and gets well soon. Otherwise, neither Yin Ze nor I will be able to rest easy."
Kong Lai held his Wife’s hand and comforted her, "The Beast God will protect her!"
"Yes, may the Beast God protect her."
Yin Ze kept watch by her side as sunlight slowly began to filter into the stone house.
Everything around them grew clearer. The female on the stone bed had a peaceful expression and a healthy, rosy complexion.
"Wanwan?"
Yin Ze called out subconsciously, as if trying to wake her from a normal sleep.
But the female on the bed still didn’t move.
Bai Wanwan felt as if she had fallen into a long, drawn-out dream. At first, she was surrounded by complete darkness. Unable to get her bearings, she ran desperately through the void.
She didn’t know how long she ran, but eventually, she was so exhausted she lost all her strength.
Then, the seemingly endless darkness receded like the tide.
A sudden, piercing white light made Bai Wanwan’s eyes sting.
Then, she saw a disfigured male.
"Wanwan..." he called her name, his voice gentle.
She didn’t know who he was, but seeing his appearance made her heart ache. She wanted to reach out and hug him.
But as soon as she reached out her hand, the image popped like a bubble and vanished.
She spun around in a panic. "Who are you? Come back!"
But it was as if she were the only person in the entire world. The vast emptiness surrounded her, and no one answered her call.
She had no choice but to keep walking forward.
As she walked, she saw a pair of scarlet eyes. At first, they were so ice-cold and emotionless that they startled her. But then, they suddenly softened, and as they gazed at her, she felt a profound love emanating from them.
She cautiously approached, step by step. "Who are you?"
The other figure merely watched her in silence, not uttering a word.
Finally, Bai Wanwan couldn’t hold back any longer and reached out to embrace him.
The moment she did, everything before her dissipated like a phantom image once more.
Next came a fresh, sunny face, which one moment was filled with sorrow. "Wanwan, please like me too, okay?"
The next, it was as radiant as the sun. "Wanwan, you’re so beautiful. I want to be with you forever."
Finally, a handsome and dignified face appeared in her mind. He, too, gazed at her gently. "Wanwan, come back to me, won’t you?"
"Okay. Wait for me."
Bai Wanwan shot up into a sitting position.
Yin Ze, who had been keeping vigil by the bed, was overjoyed. He steadied her by the shoulders. "Wanwan, you’re awake! How do you feel?"
Bai Wanwan was dazed for a moment, finding it hard to distinguish dream from reality.
The four faces from her dream were incredibly clear, but none of them matched the face of Yin Ze before her.
’What in the world is going on?’
Aside from seeing those four faces in her dream, she had no idea what relationship those four males had with her.
"Are you still feeling unwell somewhere? I’ll go get the Clan Witch!" Yin Ze, who was still by the bed, had just stood up when Bai Wanwan grabbed his sleeve.
"No need." Bai Wanwan shook her head. "I’m fine now."
"Are you really not hurting anywhere? Don’t lie to me."
Yin Ze frowned, studying her face intently.
She wasn’t smiling as much as she usually did. In fact, after waking up and glancing at him once, she seemed to have become lost in her own thoughts.
He desperately wanted to know what she was thinking, but since she didn’t seem to be in a good mood, he didn’t press her.
"Are you hungry?"
Bai Wanwan curved her lips into a small smile. "A little."
"Then wait here, I’ll go get you some meat."
After Yin Ze got up and left, Bai Wanwan placed a hand over her beating heart.
She couldn’t help but ask herself again: ’Who are they?’
She didn’t know, but her subconscious told her that they were incredibly important to her.
So, after she recovered, she started taking advantage of the times Yin Ze went into the mountains to hunt, using the opportunity to ask for information around the tribe.
"Wanwan, you’ve seemed distracted these past few days. Is something on your mind? You can talk to Sister Yin Mei about it, you know."
Bai Wanwan figured she’d have to leave sooner or later, and there was no point in hiding it.
"You mentioned before that Yin Ze found me by an underground river. I wanted to ask what other tribes are near that river. Maybe someone from my family is waiting for me."
"You’ve made up your mind? You really have to go?" Yin Mei felt a pang of worry for her brother.
"Yes."
Just as she said that, there was a sound at the door.
Yin Mei and Bai Wanwan turned their heads at the same time. The prey Yin Ze had been carrying lay dropped at his feet.
His expression was grim as he walked toward her, one step at a time.
"Can’t you... stay?" His voice carried a nearly imperceptible tremor.
Bai Wanwan pressed her lips together. "I need to figure out what it is I’ve lost."
She couldn’t go on living in a daze. She needed to know why she came here, and what happened after she transmigrated to this world.
The moment she saw those four faces, she knew she had to find out, no matter what!
