Chapter 316: Chapter 316: They Are Saved

The moment he stepped through the tribe’s main gate, the willpower Yan Lie had been clinging to finally shattered.

His legs gave out, and he collapsed heavily to his knees in the snow. Yet, just as he was about to fall completely, he forced his arms out to support himself, keeping Bai Wanwan held securely in his embrace.

The itch he had desperately suppressed erupted like a volcano. The moment his focus broke, he could no longer fight it.

He began to roll around on the ground, his sharp claws uncontrollably raking at his own fur. In an instant, he had torn open bloody gashes.

Bai Wanwan grabbed his claws with all her might, her heart aching. "Yan Lie, try to hang in there! Don’t keep hurting yourself."

Jin Cang came down from the stone wall as well.

He looked at Bai Wanwan’s family—how some were injured and others unconscious, all for the sake of his tribe.

He felt deeply indebted. "Wanwan, the Golden Lion Tribe’s gates will forever be open to you and your Beast Husbands. You will always be the most honored guests of our clan!"

As Jin Cang Clan Leader’s words faded, the surrounding Beastmen let out a series of roars.

Deafening lion roars echoed over the tribe—the Beastmen’s highest form of respect.

Bai Wanwan had no time for anything else. She hurriedly said to the Clan Leader, "Clan Leader, could I trouble you to have some males take my Beast Husbands back? In their condition, they shouldn’t stay out in the snow for long."

’Once we’re back, I can take better care of them.’

Outside the main gate, the Beastmen of the Bear Clan stood in a long standoff with the Golden Lions.

After a long time, the Bear Clan’s Clan Leader finally led his Beastmen away.

With the threat at their back gone, Jin Cang immediately ordered Jin Yue to send men to carry Bai Wanwan’s Beast Husbands back.

A short while later, all three of Bai Wanwan’s Beast Husbands were being carried back to her residence.

Hearing the commotion, Jin Yi forced himself to get up. He walked to the doorway and saw Bai Wanwan’s receding figure.

He had been severely injured and unconscious when she left. After waking, he learned from his Father Beast that she had braved the harsh cold of the blizzard, leaving the tribe and facing immense danger to find her Beast Husbands.

"Jin Yi, tell me, do you like Bai Wanwan?"

His Father Beast’s words still seemed to echo in his ears.

’Do I like her?’

’Yes, I do. I fell for her long ago, during the beast tide, when we spent every day together and faced life and death side-by-side.’

He hadn’t answered his Father Beast, who had simply sighed. "Think it over carefully. It’s not too late if you figure it out now. I’ve lived a long time, and I’ve never seen a female go to such lengths for her males. Being her Beast Husband would be a blessing for any male!"

As he watched Bai Wanwan’s figure disappear into the distance, he could no longer hold himself up and a violent cough wracked his throat.

Hearing the sound, the Witch Doctor immediately turned to help him up. "Young Clan Leader, your injuries are severe. You must remain in bed to recover for a while. You cannot be exposed to the cold and wind."

Jin Yi was forced back into bed.

Bai Wanwan returned to her residence, following the Golden Lions who were carrying her husbands.

Shi Hua heard the commotion and opened the door to greet them.

When she saw the condition of Zhu Xiu and the other two males, her expression changed dramatically. She quickly scanned the crowd, searching for Bai Wanwan.

She visibly relaxed upon spotting her and hurried toward her against the cold wind.

"Sister!"

She didn’t ask any questions, just held her hand tightly in a comforting gesture.

Bai Wanwan managed a faint smile and patted her hand in return. "Don’t worry, I’m fine. It’s cold out here. Let’s go inside."

Xin Feng and Yan Lie were still conscious. They quickly shifted back to their human forms and lay down. To make caring for them easier, she had them both stay in one room.

One lay on the stone bed, the other on the sofa.

The biggest problem was Zhu Xiu.

The Golden Lions had to use every ounce of their strength to carry his beast form into the house.

His beast form took up the entire room.

"Thank you all. I can handle the rest myself."

Bai Wanwan smiled gratefully at them, thinking they would leave.

However, several of the males lingered, looking like they wanted to say something as they stared at her with fervent eyes.

"Bai Wanwan," one of them said, "I am a Yellow Rank Male. Now that your three Beast Husbands are injured, I want to become your Beast Husband and stay here to take care of you all."

"Me too," another added. "Bai Wanwan, I swear I’ll cherish and care for you just like your other Beast Husbands. Will you give me a chance?"

Bai Wanwan actually had a good impression of these Golden Lions.

Even though polyandry was the norm here, she had no desire to casually take on new partners.

"I’m sorry, but I have no plans to take on new partners at the moment. I cannot return your kind intentions."

Disappointment showed on the males’ faces, but none of them pressured her.

"Don’t worry, Bai Wanwan," one said. "You can take your time to consider it. Even if you don’t accept me as your Beast Husband for now, if there’s anything you need, you can always find me. I’ll help you."

After a good deal of polite refusal, Bai Wanwan finally saw them off.

She turned back to her three injured males. First, she went to check on Zhu Xiu. She found that, aside from being unconscious, his breathing was steady. It seemed he really was just hibernating.

After confirming that Zhu Xiu’s condition was stable, she headed to the other room.

Pained groans escaped Yan Lie’s throat from time to time.

Bai Wanwan hurried over, hugged him, and applied another layer of golden sore medicine. "Stop scratching. If you can’t stand it, scratch me instead."

Yan Lie was still lucid. How could he possibly bring himself to scratch her?

"Wanwan, don’t come near me. I’m afraid I’ll hurt you by accident. I’ll... I’ll endure it. I’ll get through this."

Yan Lie struggled free and buried his face in a pillow. But when the itch became unbearable, his hand would still reach up to scratch.

After checking on Yan Lie, she immediately turned to examine Xin Feng.

Xin Feng’s injuries were the most severe of all her Beast Husbands. He had several deep lacerations on his body, bone was exposed on his shoulder, and his leg was crippled.

She took his hand, but before she could say anything, Xin Feng gave her a weak smile. "I’m fine, too. A few days’ rest and these wounds will heal."

Bai Wanwan shook her head. "How could a few days be enough? Lie still. I’m going to apply medicine."

Compared to Zhu Xiu’s and Yan Lie’s conditions, Xin Feng’s injuries were the most severe, but they were also the most straightforward to treat.

She first redeemed some alcohol to disinfect his wounds. Once they were clean, she quickly applied the Extreme Effect Golden Sore Medicine.

Gradually, a film seemed to cover the ghastly, bleeding wounds as the tissue underneath began to rapidly repair itself.

She had already put water on to boil before starting all this.

After treating his wounds, she stood and prepared a basin of warm water. She wrung out a cotton cloth and gently wiped his face and hands.

Xin Feng looked guilty. "We’re supposed to be the ones taking care of you, but now you have to take care of us instead."

Bai Wanwan smiled gently. "There’s no ’supposed to.’ A husband and wife are one. When I need care, you care for me. Now you need care, so it’s my turn to care for you."

Her words washed over Xin Feng’s heart like water from a hot spring.

’In this whole world,’ he thought, ’only his female would ever think like that.’

As if he could never get enough of the sight, his eyes followed her everywhere.

No matter what she did, she could feel his gaze upon her.

"Why are you staring at me? Get some rest. You’ll recover faster that way."

The words had barely left her mouth when there was a knock at the door.

"I’ll see who it is. I’ll be right back."

With that, she rose and walked toward the door...
