Chi Yu’s eyes grew red with anxiety, and her fingers tightened around his wrist. "Chou Rong! Do you intend to end up like those old, weak males, dying all alone on a hunt with no family to even bring your body home?"

Looking into his Mother’s worried and hopeful eyes, for an instant, he almost blurted out the truth.

But he swallowed, forcing the words back down.

His Mother had more than one Beast Husband, and he wasn’t her only child.

With so many eyes watching, he still hadn’t figured out who was behind his Father Beast’s death.

He couldn’t put his cubs in danger.

"Mother," he said, softening his tone and taking her hand in his. "I won’t mate with Feng Xi. But I promise you, I will give the matter serious thought."

Chi Yu’s expression eased, and a flicker of hope ignited in her eyes. "Feng Xi is a Holy Female. She’s the most suitable female for you. Please, think it over carefully."

"Mm..."

Chou Rong didn’t contradict his Mother.

Feng Xi might be a Holy Female, but in his eyes, she was no different from any other female.

Bai Wanwan’s face flashed through his mind again, her every frown and smile suddenly becoming sharp and clear.

Zhu Xiu glanced sideways at her, a faint smile playing on his lips. "Who do you think you’re scaring, little kitten?"

Bai Wanwan’s original form was, in fact, a cat.

She bared her teeth. "What’s wrong with being a cat? Cats can be fierce, you know!"

Zhu Xiu chuckled. "Right. Are you hungry? Sit down and have some breakfast."

Bai Wanwan happily turned to wash up. As she washed, she said, "I saw we still have a lot of those potatoes that got wet. I was thinking of making some potato chips and a few hot pots. We could invite Yan Lie and the others over for dinner tonight. What do you think?"

Zhu Xiu had no objections. Other beastman families in the Golden Lion Tribe might be short on food, but he would never let his female and cubs go hungry.
