Delicate Villainess, Desperate Males – A Beast World Reverse Harem
Chapter 165: I Love to Help
Chapter 165: Chapter 165: I Love to Help
"Beast hides, prey... either works. Or if you have anything else to trade," the male Beastman replied enthusiastically.
Just then, Yan Lie and Zhu Xiu walked over from behind.
"Like this fruit?" they asked, their eyes landing on the Monkey Fruit in Bai Wanwan’s hands.
Wanwan had all their supplies, but with all eyes in the market currently fixed on them, she couldn’t just take things out in the open.
"Why don’t we trade this Tiger Beast, then..." Xin Feng suggested.
To them, even prey like a Tiger Beast was easy to come by. Trading one for something their female companion desired was no big deal.
The male Beastman at the stall grew instantly excited, his eyes fixed greedily on the Tiger Beast they were carrying.
"Deal! You give me the Tiger Beast, and all these Monkey Fruits are yours," he said, unable to hide his eagerness.
Just as Xin Feng was about to hand the tiger over, Bai Wanwan stretched out an arm to stop him.
’Are all the males this clueless about saving? Trading a tiger for fruit... I can’t believe they’d even come up with that.’
’As someone from the modern world, the fact that I’m not haggling him down to rock bottom is already a huge favor. And he still thinks he can get one over on me?’
’Impossible!’
"We’re not trading this."
Bai Wanwan was prepared. She had a small, ordinary-looking pouch hanging at her waist, but it held treasures within.
She slowly opened the pouch and took out a sparkly, beautiful hair accessory. It was something she had redeemed from the system. She didn’t usually like to dress up, so she’d bought a few hair accessories that she had barely used.
’This thing would probably be worth ten bucks in the modern world, but in the Beast World, it ought to be pretty valuable.’
"You’re really going to trade this with me?"
The male Beastman stared at the exquisite, beautiful hair accessory in her hand, his eyes wide with disbelief.
To any Beastman, an item like this was more precious than any prey. Small and medium-sized tribes never got to see such fine things.
’But this was just a cheap trinket she’d redeemed for a dozen or so Points. How could it possibly be worth more than a tiger?’
’If she weren’t saving her Points for something important, she could redeem a whole pile of these in a heartbeat.’
’She had several more just like it in her pouch.’
"Mhm. For you. Do you want it or not?"
"Yes, yes! As long as you give me this, all the fruit is yours." The male Beastman nodded again and again, terrified she would change her mind.
"Done," Bai Wanwan said, crisply handing the hair accessory over.
He happily took it, tucked it carefully into a hide pouch, and quickly handed over all the fruit from his stall.
Xin Feng reached out to accept them, and in the blink of an eye, Bai Wanwan had already dashed off to another stall.
Bai Wanwan’s attention was caught by the beautiful pelts at one of the stalls.
The pelts were sleek and glossy. Some were flawless and snow-white, some were red as flame, and others shimmered with a silvery light.
"What kind of pelts are these? They look so much nicer than other animals’ fur," Bai Wanwan asked, turning to Zhu Xiu, who had just walked up beside her.
Zhu Xiu glanced at the pelts on the stall. "These are all from Fox Beasts. After Fox Beastmen transform, they’re the most beautiful of all the clans. As for the beasts that don’t transform, their pelts are the most popular among females, second only to those of the Merfolk."
"Merfolk? You mean they turn into mermaids?"
"Mermaids?" Yan Lie sidled up, grinning. "That’s a fun term for them. I’ve seen Merfolk in another tribe before. They’re truly beautiful, on par with the Fox Clan."
’So there were all these other creatures in the Beast World. It’s a shame the original owner of this body was born in such a remote place. There were no foxes or creatures like Merfolk anywhere nearby.’
’The large tribes must have them, though. I have to go take a look if I ever get the chance.’
Xin Feng came to her side as well. "Fox Beast pelts are beautiful and warm. We should get some. We can make a Beast Skin Skirt when the snow season arrives."
’Truth be told, Bai Wanwan wasn’t a fan of Beast Skin Skirts. The colors were usually ugly, and the cut was terrible. She was rather particular about her lifestyle and her clothes.’
’But fox pelts were different. Clothes made from these would definitely look good.’
"Alright, let’s trade for them."
Hearing her say that, Yan Lie immediately asked the stall owner, "What’s the trade for the fox pelts?"
The stall owner eyed the tiger on Xin Feng’s shoulder and named an outrageous price. "You can trade the tiger."
Bai Wanwan immediately shook her head. "Fox Beast pelts are valuable, but they’re not worth an entire tiger."
Only the most elite Beastmen in a tribe could hunt a Tiger Beast by themselves; it was no ordinary prey.
Fox Beasts were cunning, but with enough patience, even someone with a lower-level Talent could hunt one.
"Then what are you offering in trade?"
Bai Wanwan stepped up to the stall and took a closer look. There were seven Fox Beast pelts in total: three white, two red, one silver, and one black.
"I’ll take all of your pelts."
The stall owner was taken aback by her words. He immediately waved his hands and shook his head. "Even if you trade the Tiger Beast, you can’t have all of my fox pelts."
Bai Wanwan agreed that asking for all of them was a bit much, so she rummaged in her pouch and pulled out another hair accessory, identical to the first.
The tiny butterfly on it was so lifelike it seemed to flutter with the movement of Bai Wanwan’s hand.
The level of craftsmanship left the stall owner stunned.
"You’re... you’re really willing to trade this?" The stall owner still couldn’t believe it.
"Mhm. Deal or no deal?"
"If you add the Tiger Beast to that, then I’ll trade all of them to you," he proposed quickly, his tone urgent as if he were afraid they’d refuse.
"Fine," Bai Wanwan nodded. "They’re yours."
Xin Feng tossed the Tiger Beast down in front of the stall owner and stepped forward to gather up all the fox pelts.
The stall owner took possession of both items and was absolutely overjoyed.
"Do you need any more Fox Beast pelts? I’ll trade with you again next time!"
"No, we’re good..." Bai Wanwan shook her head. ’I’m on my way to the Golden Lion Tribe. I’m not likely to ever come back this way.’
The man was clearly disappointed. The item in his hand would surely win his Wife’s favor; it was just a shame this was a one-time trade.
Bai Wanwan glanced to the side and saw Mu Feng carrying their new things, while Shi Hua was at another stall.
She was about to head over to Shi Hua when she saw the stall owner there whisper something to her. Shi Hua paused for a second, then followed him off to the side.
Mu Feng turned and clearly noticed what was happening. He was about to hurry over when Bai Wanwan held up a hand to stop him.
"Hold on," Bai Wanwan said. "If he’s a bad one, it’s good for Shi Hua to get some experience. It’ll make her less likely to be fooled in the future."
Mu Feng was still uneasy. He couldn’t let his female put herself in danger.
"If you’re that worried, I’ll go follow them," Bai Wanwan suggested.
Now it was Xin Feng and the others’ turn to object.
"Wanwan, no," the males said in unison.
"It’s fine. You’re all here. Is that male really going to hurt us right under your noses?"
Without waiting for another word, Bai Wanwan ignored the males’ attempts to stop her and walked straight toward Shi Hua and the other Beastman.
The male Beastman led Shi Hua to a corner near the mountainside and stopped.
Shi Hua looked around, confused. "Didn’t you say you needed my help?"
Seeing that there were no other Beastmen around, the male immediately decided to make his move on Shi Hua.
But just then, Bai Wanwan’s voice suddenly interrupted him.
"Shi Hua! I’ve been looking all over for you. So this is where you went."
Bai Wanwan appeared before the male Beastman and Shi Hua with a placid smile.
Shi Hua pointed to the male beside her and explained, "This male just said he needed help with something, so I came over with him."
"Help?"
Bai Wanwan looked at the male Beastman, her gaze knowing and a faint smile playing on her lips. "Help with what? I just love helping people."
The male’s eyes lit up when he saw her.
’He was originally taking a risk just to lure one female away. Now two of them had shown up. Perfect. He’d just take them both...’
