Delicate Villainess, Desperate Males – A Beast World Reverse Harem
Chapter 148: Stay and Be My Beast Husband
Chapter 148: Chapter 148: Stay and Be My Beast Husband
The Clan Leader of the Black Dog Tribe seemed to lose all his fighting spirit in that moment, his entire demeanor crumbling.
But Bai Wanwan couldn’t help him. The Black Dog Tribe had little to do with her, and it wasn’t her responsibility.
After the Clan Leader left with the males of the tribe, Bai Wanwan’s mood wasn’t affected in the slightest.
"Wanwan, I’m off to the mountains."
Yan Lie was usually already up the mountain by this time every day.
The Clan Leader’s arrival today had delayed him.
He was just about to leave when Bai Wanwan called out to stop him. "Wait a second."
Yan Lie immediately turned back, his eyes lighting up as if filled with stars as he waited for her to continue.
Bai Wanwan walked closer. "Which tribe are you from?"
The moment he heard Bai Wanwan ask about his home, the smile on Yan Lie’s face froze. He answered evasively, "My home is pretty far from here."
"How far? How long would it take to walk back?"
The light in Yan Lie’s eyes visibly faded. "Wanwan, I can’t leave right now. The Eagle Beasts could attack again at any moment. Even if I were to go, it would only be after I’m sure you’re safe."
’After these past few days together, he was actually even more reluctant to leave. But he didn’t want to make Wanwan angry or put her in a difficult position.’
’At least on the surface, he had to act like he was leaving.’
Bai Wanwan watched his face, thinking, ’This male’s expressions are like the weather, changing from happy to sad in a flash.’
When Bai Wanwan didn’t say anything, he grew afraid she was about to tell him to leave right then and there.
"Wanwan, I’m... I’m heading up the mountain now..."
With that, he spun around and darted into a nearby alley, trying to get away before he could hear words he didn’t want to hear.
"Stop right there!"
Yan Lie, who had nearly reached the end of the alley, had no choice but to stop again.
’I need to make things clear with him,’ Bai Wanwan thought.
"Wanwan..." Yan Lie’s brow was so deeply furrowed you could have pinched a fly in the creases. "Can... can you not say it?"
Bai Wanwan let out a short, wry laugh. "And you know what I’m going to say?"
Yan Lie pressed his lips together. "Yeah. I do."
"Then tell me, what is it I want to say?"
His gaze darted from side to side, avoiding hers, but he finally said it.
"You want me to leave. But you aren’t safe right now, so I’m not leaving."
He said it with absolute conviction, making it clear that he wouldn’t leave even if she tried to force him out.
Bai Wanwan’s tone softened considerably. "What did I say that made you think I wanted you to leave?"
Yan Lie’s gaze snapped to her face. He asked uncertainly, "When you asked where my home was... you didn’t mean for me to leave?"
"If I wanted you to go, I would’ve just told you to go. Why would I bother asking where your home is?"
Yan Lie still didn’t quite understand what she meant.
"Then... why did you ask where my home is?"
"Because I wanted to know about your family. If you just stayed here indefinitely, wouldn’t your Mother and Father Beast worry about you?"
Yan Lie blinked rapidly, the heart in his chest hammering out of control.
But he didn’t dare to hope that Wanwan’s words meant what he thought they did.
"Wanwan, are you saying I can stay here permanently?"
He asked the question, but his eyes were blazing, fixed directly on her.
They were filled with anticipation.
"Do you want to stay?" Bai Wanwan asked, watching him as the corners of her lips slowly curved into a smile.
Her smile gave Yan Lie all the courage he needed. He closed the distance between them in a few quick strides, his expression one of utmost sincerity and passion. "I do! Wanwan, I want to stay by your side forever!"
Bai Wanwan’s gaze swept over his face. She smiled and nodded. "Then stay."
"What did you say?" Yan Lie suppressed the fire in his eyes, his voice trembling with excitement. "Wanwan, say it again."
"Alright, I’ll say it again. Stay by my side from now on."
Yan Lie’s hands shot up to grip her shoulders, but he immediately loosened his hold as if afraid he’d hurt her.
"Does this mean I can be with you, just like Xin Feng and Zhu Xiu?"
’After how decisively Wanwan had rejected him before, he scarcely dared to believe it.’
’Even though she had made it crystal clear, he was still worried this was all just wishful thinking.’
Bai Wanwan hadn’t expected Yan Lie to keep asking, even after she’d been so explicit.
But she wasn’t impatient. ’It’s probably because I rejected him so many times before,’ she thought.
’In that case, I’ll just have to give him a few more confirmations.’
She tilted her head back to look at him, her eyes smiling. "Was I not clear enough? Then listen carefully. I want you to stay. Stay by my side. Be my Beast Husband, like Xin Feng and Zhu Xiu, and build a life with me. So... do you understand now?"
Bai Wanwan expected him to be overjoyed. Instead, he just stood there, stunned, as the rims of his eyes quickly reddened.
"You..."
Before she could finish, Yan Lie suddenly reached out and pulled her into a tight hug.
"Wanwan..."
"Mhm."
Bai Wanwan smiled as she replied, feeling the tension and stiffness in his body, feeling the wild thumping of his heart against his chest.
"Wanwan..."
Yan Lie held the female in his arms tightly. The feelings he had suppressed for so long, the response he never dared hope for—Wanwan had given him all of it, so effortlessly.
Emotions churned in his chest, leaving him at a loss. All he could do was obey his instincts and hold her tighter, and tighter still...
...as if trying to merge their bodies into one.
"Wanwan..."
He repeated her name over and over, as if it were the only thing that could ground him.
Bai Wanwan reached out, sliding her arms around his lean waist and hugging him back.
"You’re being silly. Why do you keep calling my name?"
Yan Lie grinned. "I don’t know. I just wanted to say it."
As he spoke, he looked down and saw her face, as delicate as a flower petal. His Adam’s apple bobbed, his throat suddenly feeling dry and tight.
A powerful desire surged within him, but he made no move. Instead, he quickly shut his eyes and turned his head away.
’I can’t scare Wanwan!’
’This is a chance I finally got. I can’t have Wanwan end up hating me.’
Bai Wanwan was watching him, too. She was all too familiar with the desire she saw in his eyes.
’She’d thought he would be as reckless as before, but surprisingly, he managed to restrain himself and look away.’
Yet his expression and the bob of his Adam’s apple betrayed just how much he was struggling.
And yet, he refused to let go, still holding her tight.
"If you’re that uncomfortable, maybe you should let go?"
"No, Wanwan. I want to hold you for a little longer."
Even with his eyes closed, the scent of her body made a faint blush creep onto his cheeks.
Afraid she might get angry, he quickly added, "Just for a little while, I’ll let go soon..."
Before he could finish, his lips suddenly brushed against something soft and sweet.
’What was that?’
A guess formed in his mind, and Yan Lie could no longer contain himself. His eyes snapped open.
Seeing her beautiful face so close to his, Yan Lie’s already ragged breathing became even more chaotic.
This time, there was no room for thought. He simply lowered his head and kissed her.
Her sweet scent sent a thrill through him. His arms tightened, pulling her closer and closer, as if he wanted to merge her completely into his embrace...
