Bai Wanwan grabbed his hand, stopping him from leading her out.

"Hm?" Xin Feng turned back, confused.

"I can’t go with you yet. Zhu Xiu’s condition has just stabilized these past two days. If I stay with him, I can help him recover."

’If he were still in that frenzied state from the first few days,’ she thought, ’I wouldn’t have stayed for a second.’

’I would have packed my bags and left with Xin Feng in a heartbeat.’

But these last two days, Zhu Xiu’s condition had clearly improved. His affection toward her made her think that he might still remember her.

After all, he was her Beast Husband. She didn’t want him to become a mindless beast.

Xin Feng placed both hands on her shoulders. "I’m not comfortable with you staying by his side. If he loses his mind again, you have no way to protect yourself. What if I happen to be back at the tribe checking on the cubs and can’t get to you in time?"

For the past few days, he had spent most of his time guarding the cave entrance, but he still occasionally returned to the tribe to check on the cubs.

Luckily, the female named Shi Hua had volunteered to help, and she was taking good care of the cubs.

Only then could he leave them and guard Wanwan with peace of mind.

"Don’t worry. Even at his most savage, he never tried to swallow me."

"But I’m still not at ease..." Xin Feng frowned, not yielding to her plan. "Even if he’s not lucid right now, he has the skills to survive in the wild. You should come back with me. He’ll come find us when he’s clear-headed again."

Bai Wanwan took the opportunity to lean into his embrace. "I’m really not going back with you this time. Zhu Xiu needs me. If it were you, I’d stay behind too."

He tightened his arms around her. "Do you really have to stay?"

"Mhm. If you’re worried, come visit me when you have time. I’ll find a way to send Zhu Xiu off so we can talk."

Bai Wanwan tilted her head up and smiled at him, trying to tell him not to worry so much.

But his brow remained tightly furrowed, and he showed no sign of letting go.

She stood on her tiptoes and gave him a peck on the lips. "Stop worrying. We just got to see each other after so long. Tell me, how are the cubs? With both of us gone, who’s been helping to look after them?"

Xin Feng told her about Shi Hua helping out.

"Then I’ll have to thank her properly when I get back."

As soon as she said that, Xin Feng gripped her waist and lowered his head to kiss her.

His unique scent was as refreshing and pleasant as a cool breeze.

She stood on her tiptoes again, wrapping her arms around his neck and trying her best to respond.

Most of the time, Xin Feng’s kisses were like the man himself—gentle as the wind, rarely feeling forceful.

But the male before her now seemed like a different person. He held her waist tightly, backing her against the cave wall in just a few steps, his kiss urgent and fierce.

Bai Wanwan loved this contrasting side of him. Her fingers mischievously traced patterns on the back of his neck.

The male’s gaze grew increasingly dangerous. His hand reached for the tie on her waist, giving it a gentle tug...

Bai Wanwan quickly grabbed his hand, her words muffled. "Don’t mess around. Zhu Xiu will be back any minute."

’Zhu Xiu is like a firecracker with a short fuse right now. He’s affectionate and tolerant enough with me, but toward other males, he’s absolutely vicious and cruel.’

’They’re both my Beast Husbands. I don’t want either of them to get hurt.’

Xin Feng thought for a moment and released his hand, but he kept his arm around her waist, continuing the kiss.

In truth, Bai Wanwan couldn’t fully lose herself in the moment, constantly feeling like Zhu Xiu could return at any second.

She kissed him back forcefully a couple of times before pushing him away.

"Zhu Xiu should be back soon. You need to go. We’ll see each other again when we get another chance."

Xin Feng was reluctant, his gentle features taking on a reproachful look.

’Faced with such beauty,’ Bai Wanwan thought, ’I’m reluctant to part, too.’

"Next time I’m back, I’ll be sure to make it up to you."

With her promise, Xin Feng finally let her push him away, looking back every few steps.

At the mouth of the cave, Bai Wanwan saw the trees shaking in the distance and immediately gave Xin Feng another push. "Zhu Xiu’s back! Hurry up and go."

After saying that, she quickly ducked back into the cave.

Before leaving, Xin Feng knew to block the entrance with the large rock again.

Bai Wanwan knew Beastmen had a keen sense of smell. As quickly as she could, she changed her clothes, tossed the old ones into her System Space, and then used the water Zhu Xiu had brought to carefully wash every spot Xin Feng had touched.

Once all that was done, she crawled under the covers.

She had just lain down when the rock was moved aside and Zhu Xiu’s massive body slithered in.

He opened his mouth, and with a great SPLASH, countless fish came pouring out.

In the blink of an eye, the nearly empty basin was filled with water and fish.

Bai Wanwan pretended to have just been woken up, staring at the basin full of fish.

"So many... I can’t eat all this by myself. Do you want some?"

Zhu Xiu immediately slid several meters away. He really disliked these smelly "bugs"; their bones were very uncomfortable when they got stuck in his stomach.

Bai Wanwan put on her Beast Skin Skirt and walked over to the fish-filled basin to pick through them.

She didn’t press the issue. In his beast form, these fish wouldn’t be nearly enough to fill Zhu Xiu’s stomach anyway.

’I was just looking for an excuse to send him out, but now, seeing so many lively, flopping fish,’ Bai Wanwan thought, ’my appetite is whetted.’

’I need to save up Points to lift Zhu Xiu’s Dark Curse, but it would be nice to have a feast with these fish for a change.’

She reached into the basin, pulled out a few fat, plump fish, sat down at the cave entrance, and began to scale them.

The fish Zhu Xiu had caught were all huge. The smallest was half an arm’s length long, with flesh that was both fatty and fresh.

She processed three fish in one go.

She picked one up and began to slice it.

’I’ve eaten many types of fish from the Beast World Continent, and every one was delicious.’

’They’re just as good as the seafood from my old world—even fresher and sweeter, actually.’

She picked up a stone bowl, poured in some soy sauce and wasabi, and ate as she sliced. She couldn’t have been more satisfied.

In no time, the entire fish was sliced, though a small portion had already ended up in her stomach.

She took the remaining two fish and scored their backs diagonally to help them absorb the flavors.

Then she began adding various sauces and side ingredients.

It was only when she started grilling the fish that Bai Wanwan remembered Zhu Xiu and looked back at him.

She found Zhu Xiu moving along the base of the wall, slowly slithering toward the exact spot where she and Xin Feng had embraced and kissed just moments before.

’This is bad,’ Bai Wanwan thought. ’He wouldn’t go over there for no reason.’

She forgot all about the fish she was grilling, dropped her chopsticks, and shot to her feet.

"Zhu Xiu, come over here! Help me taste this."

Zhu Xiu heard her call and turned his head toward her.

The sky outside hadn’t darkened yet, and the light spilling in from the open cave entrance perfectly illuminated the King Cobra’s head.

’He’s in his beast form, just eyes and a mouth. It’s hard to read his expression.’

But Bai Wanwan could still sense it: he was angry.

’Did he smell it?’

Feeling guilty, Bai Wanwan walked toward him. "Come here."

As she got closer, Zhu Xiu suddenly opened his jaws and let out a roar at her, as if protesting his displeasure.

His forked tongue nearly licked her face, but Bai Wanwan forced herself to stand perfectly still.

’This is a time to play dumb. I can’t admit anything.’

"What in the world is wrong? Are you unhappy? Then how about I give you a hug?"

Without giving Zhu Xiu any chance to react, she brazenly threw her arms around him.
