Delayed for Four Lifetimes: I Awaken by Investing in My Crippled Wife
Chapter 66: Ambushing The Dungeon Boss
-----
The figure sitting in the dark throne room was enormous, a true giant standing nearly twenty meters tall. It was immediately clear that these people were not humans due to their massive size. They belonged to some ancient race of giants.
In his Second Reincarnation, Riven had exploded his way through over fifty different floors of a deadly Tower. He had managed to survive with only minimal talent and barely any ability or magic to speak of, relying purely on careful observation of his foes, constant analysis of his surroundings, and precise timing of when to act.
In the last fight, he had let his overconfidence, grown from his massive power growth, get the better of him.
But he had promised himself he would never let that happen again...
"..."
He gripped the Fenrir Fang tightly in one hand and formed a second sword made of pure ice, which he then coated with dense purple ki and swirling nether flames. He dual-wielded the two massive and incredibly heavy weapons with one hand each, an act that even experienced hunters would find completely ridiculous yet Riven performed it with utmost ease.
Then he began combining several skills together at once. The Fallen King still sat in deep slumber, a giant zombie covered in thick black armor with a broken black crown resting on his head. His eyes remained closed, and he made no sound due to the Domain of Silence that filled the entire chamber.
Then...
Riven jumped.
Tyrant Embodiment.
Sacrificial Werewolf.
Biological Armor.
Netherworld King Swordsmanship.
Ten Thousand Poison Fang.
Veil of Invisibility.
Assassination Shadow Blade.
Abyssal Assault.
It was like a sudden storm. Dozens of skills activated one after another in rapid succession. The Fallen King’s long slumber was interrupted by a soundless but overwhelming pain. His eyes snapped open wide as he saw a single figure break through his heavy armor with a pair of massive swords. The attacker formed an almost tornado-like aura of ghostly fire, deadly poison, ice, and dark flames that tore into his body.
"WH— MGH?!"
Then he realized he could not even speak. No voice came from his throat, and there was no sound in the Domain of Silence. But he could still feel every slashing attack. Everything Riven did was simply too strong and too fast.
He was unable to rely on his usual magic as he always had. In desperation he clutched his gigantic sword and swung it toward Riven while still seated on the throne.
Riven easily avoided the slow and heavy attack, leaping cleanly over the enormous blade as a sea of netherworld flames surged from it and attempted to burn his soul.
But he protected his soul with a thick layer of ghostly energy thanks to Spectral Ghost King Aura and continued without slowing down, rapidly reaching the King’s massive head.
"TSK!"
The King quickly stood up from his throne, only to find thick layers of frost binding his entire body tightly in place.
"?!"
Ice spread across his form in mere seconds, locking his limbs and armor. Then sudden explosions of poisonous acid erupted, melting away large sections of his incredibly heavy, magic-enhanced armor. Riven dove forward with both swords in a single, decisive swoop aimed straight at the trapped monarch.
This was the embodiment of his skills combined and fully internalized, a clear glimpse of the future path he would take as someone striving to become the strongest.
"Abyssal Assault... Internalization."
RUMBLE!
Ghostly swords and swirling shadows manifested all around him as his aura exploded outward with immense power. His muscles bulged under the strain, and his stats surged higher temporarily as the technique reached its peak.
"?!"
The King felt genuine fear for the first time in ages as he watched the shadow of death rush directly toward him. He raised his bare fist and remaining sword in a desperate defense, but Riven was already standing right in front of him. Both blades dug deep into the King’s powerful Magical Eyes, the very organs that granted him access to devastating magic. Riven crushed them without mercy while flooding explosive poison and searing flames straight into the skull.
"NNGAAAAHHHHH!"
The King screamed in pure agony. The Domain of Silence shattered under the sheer force of his Soul Pressure as his entire head exploded in a spray of bone and gore. His helmet cracked apart, and deep fractures spread across the rest of his armor. Pillars of raging flames erupted from every joint and opening in his body.
BOOOM! BOOOM! BOOOM! BOOOM!
"!!!"
Daniela gasped as she watched Riven’s immense strength unfold. The difference felt like night and day every time he finished a feast of new monsters and absorbed their power.
As the Fallen King’s head exploded into smithereens and his armor finally shattered, the entire throne behind him also exploded under the pressure of Riven’s attack. The King’s headless body collapsed flat onto the floor with a heavy impact.
CRAAASH!
"Y-YOU...! HOW DARE...! YOU BASTARD!!!"
In that moment his second phase activated fully.
Daniela smiled in disbelief, eyes wide. "He did it! He really did it within a single minute?!"
Exactly as Riven had told her earlier, he had needed only one minute to break the armor, destroy the head, and force the second phase to begin. That was where the real fight would finally start.
"YOU... YOU DARE...! TRESPASS INTO MY PROPERTY...! INVADE MY CASTLE...! AND ASSAULT THIS KING?! DEATH...! DEATH PENALTY!"
His ghostly roar echoed from the headless corpse. Nether energy overflowed from every wound, pouring out in thick black waves. Riven felt the sudden immense pressure and even he was forced to take a step back as the ground beneath them cracked open. Countless shadows rose from the fissures and took the form of dozens of Giant Death Knights, their armor clanking as they formed ranks.
"GO! TEAR HIM APART!!!"
The Fallen King roared and ordered his shadows to attack Riven relentlessly. The shadow army attempted to attack ferociously...
But someone was getting in their way.
