Delayed for Four Lifetimes: I Awaken by Investing in My Crippled Wife
Chapter 58: One Man Against Hundreds Of Monsters
-----
The swords that struck Riven’s body caused no damage at all. If anything, he was so hard and heavy that it felt exactly like when someone struck a solid stone with a thin stick.
Crack, crack...!
CRASH! CRASH! CRASH!
Many of their swords instantly exploded and shattered into pieces under the immense pressure that Riven’s body exuded, combined with his unnatural hardness and the full strength they put into their attacks.
"?!"
As the Headless Knights were shaken even while trapped inside their Berserk Status, Riven moved without hesitation. He deactivated his heavy weight talent ability and immediately used Abyssal Shift, followed by Abyssal Assault. In one smooth sequence he attacked and cut through one, two, three, four, and five headless knights in quick succession.
SLASH! SLASH! SLASH! SLASH! SLASH!
Their armored bodies were diced into pieces. Their glowing cores shattered and then set ablaze by his dark flames. The ghosts trapped inside were unable to even fight back as Riven used their falling body parts as temporary platforms, leaping higher and higher toward the Demonic Headless Knight.
"GYAAHAHAHA!"
The stronger variant just laughed at everything. It showed its head to be fully demon-like, with growing horns, a long lashing tongue, pointed ears, and a twisted nose. It spewed thick flames at him while swinging its two giant blazing swords with wild force.
Riven channeled the power of the Divine Frost Emperor’s Scripture. The glowing blue crown above his head further empowered this divine cultivation method as pure frost energy was released everywhere around him.
FLUOSH!
He spun rapidly in midair, creating a raging tornado of chilly winds that froze his surroundings, his foes, and everything else caught in its path. The Demonic Headless Knight was pushed back hard. Its demonic horse froze solid in an instant, its entire body collapsing into frozen pieces as Riven cut through it dozens of times with a perfectly timed Abyssal Assault combined with Veil of Invisibility.
"NNGGH!"
The Headless Knight forced its head back onto its body and charged forward. The titan being twenty meters tall was no joke. Its Rank of C- already told everyone that it was not something anybody within this dungeon’s normal rank could defeat on their own.
But Riven loved to challenge these impossible odds and completely destroy them.
He parried the two massive swords with his own blade. An explosion of dark divine energy erupted as his werewolf and tyrant forms further empowered his body. His muscles bulged with raw power as he kicked the air itself, launching toward the monster and swinging his sword down with full force.
SLAAASH!
A single potent vertical slash was all it took. The giant was cleanly bisected into two halves. It collapsed and burned under its dark flames, its core split apart, and the demon soul inside was vanquished instantly as well.
Riven looked back at the remaining Headless Knights and raised his hand, ignoring them beyond that simple gesture. Enormous icicle spears rose from the frozen ground and impaled their horses and bodies, stabbing straight through their cores until they died, frozen solid and then shattered into countless pieces.
"Who’s next?!"
He ran toward the next batch of enemies coming from the east. Headless Knights, Ghosts, and also a new type of enemy appeared: Dark Infantrymen. Unlike the previous two groups, these were giant skeletons wearing heavy black armor, each one roughly seven to eight meters tall.
They were much weaker individually, holding only small shields and spears compared to the giant Headless Knights who even rode massive undead horses. Their true strength, however, was in their numbers.
Under the Berserk Status they were unable to unleash their normal Team Tactics and Strategies. Instead they charged and attacked like a mindless, raging mob.
"Here’s a big one."
He stepped forward and then passed through over thirty Dark Infantrymen at once. Abyssal Assault allowed him to move from one place to another in the blink of an eye and unleash dozens of precise attacks at the same time.
This technique, combined with Blade of Thousand Venoms, Explosive Poison, and his Frost Aura, froze, burned, and exploded all of their bodies. At the same time slicing attacks composed of pure shadow-like sword energy cut them apart. An entire small army was felled with a single overwhelming blow.
The remaining Headless Knights charged forward angrily. The Ghosts spewed waves of ghostly fire, but Riven was already ready. He leaped high into the air and then descended with crushing force, smashing a Headless Knight under his full weight and sword before leaping to another and then another. He cut through their torsos, destroyed the cores inside, and moved on to the next target without slowing down.
The ghosts were mostly ignored as he easily avoided their attacks until he finally swung his sword, unleashing explosive slashes of dark flames that cut them apart and vanquished them within seconds.
The third army arrived right after. Giant arrows began falling from the sky and targeted him. He leaped toward the west and saw what had come next.
Thirty more Dark Infantrymen, this time Archers, led by three Demonic Headless Knights and an even stronger Ghost Variant. A Dark Specter, twice as large as the others and resembling a moving mass of living shadows and glowing red eyes, emerged from the darkness.
Riven smiled coldly and took a single step forward. He sliced through the archers with ease. Their arrows never even touched him as he moved faster than gravity could make the projectiles fall. Abyssal Assault, Blade of Thousand Venoms, and Frost Emperor’s Touch were all he needed. He combined ice conjuration, explosive flames, and sharp cutting tornadoes of slicing sword energy into one devastating assault.
