Chapter 45: The Power Of Venom Creation!

Riven inhaled the poisonous gases released by the Myconid as if they were a refreshing elixir to him.

"My favorite."

His body suddenly began overflowing with a dark purple aura as the power of Venom Production activated. Not only did it grant him complete immunity to the side effects, but it also allowed him to freely modify the toxins within his body for his own benefit.

He quickly created a special toxin that hastened his blood flow and thinking speed in exchange for spending a large quantity of energy, which he did not mind at all in the heat of battle.

Riven furrowed his eyebrows and charged forward, clashing directly against the hellish mushroom monster. Its thick tentacle-arms reached out and slammed into his body from left and right with heavy force.

Impenetrable Skill, Titan Physique, and Tyrant’s Embodiment allowed him to easily endure these powerful attacks from a D-Rank Monster and then retaliate on his own terms.

His giant blade struck the massive creature and sent it flying away with surprising ease. Riven immediately noticed that its body felt incredibly light despite its enormous size. That thing did not weigh more than a hundred kilograms at most.

"Their spongy bodies are actually incredibly light. A strong enough blow will send them flying with ease!"

He took a firm step forward and caught the Gluttonous Myconid as it fell through the air. Raising his free hand, a giant axe made of hard ice formed in an instant. He swung it like a tomahawk with full force.

SLAAASH!

The Gluttonous Myconid’s body was cleaved cleanly in half and froze solid for a moment, only for its deadly acidic poison to break through the ice and continue attacking even while divided.

"It can live even when cut apart..."

Riven carefully analyzed the beast as its two halves fell toward him. He punched both parts with Abyssal Fist, sending them crashing hard into the nearby walls.

Then, through Abyssal Shift and Veil of Invisibility, he quickly struck them again while they remained confused about what had just happened.

His sword absorbed his poisonous breath and combined it with the azure aura of his ice, creating a strange azure and purple substance that clung to the blade.

"Let’s test this."

Swinging that massive sword with surprising ease, Riven diced the two monster halves apart while spreading a strange toxin that the creature could not absorb. The toxin began to freeze its body from the inside out.

"As I thought, I can combine my elemental ki with Venom Production to create Ki Poison."

Ki Poison was a much stronger poisonous substance capable of eroding a living being’s meridians.

Even this giant mushroom abomination possessed such pathways, and perhaps because of its massive vitality it was still able to hold on even after being split apart.

"GYAAARRGGH!"

The Gluttonous Myconid screamed in agony as it was struck dozens of times through Blade of Thousand Venoms, Abyssal Assault, and the bonus damage from Veil of Invisibility.

Desperately attempting to survive, thousands of mycelial roots surged from its destroyed body and bound tightly around Riven, trying to drain his lifeforce.

But that was a terrible mistake on its part.

His skin secreted the new Poisonous Ki like sweat. The roots that tried to drain his life ended up withering away instantly. Riven took one final step forward and swung his fist with full power.

"Goodbye."

BOOOM!!!

A massive explosion of dark energies erupted from that single punch. The entire Myconid exploded outward, whatever remained of its vitality completely drained away in an instant.

Ding!

The new toxin seemed almost alive. Dark azure and purple energies resembling vipers briefly appeared around his arms before quickly disappearing right afterward.

"This should make it easier to deal with larger foes," Riven considered thoughtfully. "Daniela, are you doing fine?"

He looked back and found Daniela busily picking up items from the floor and carrying them toward him with an excited expression.

"Riven! Riven! Look how much loot we got now!"

There were three dropped items in total. One of them came from her own kill, while the others came from Riven’s. It seemed that even when she did not actively participate in the fight, her mere presence within his group allowed the monsters to increase their drop rates tremendously.

"More poisonous daggers..." she sighed. "I feel like we shouldn’t sell these! What if people use them for bad things?"

"There’s always that possibility, but we need the money," said Riven. "At the very least, I’ll become immune to these poisons by synthesizing them..."

He grabbed the newly obtained daggers and deliberately stabbed himself with both of them. His veins immediately turned black as a sharp, burning pain spread through his entire body.

For a brief moment his heart almost stopped beating entirely, but he held on just fine. His body rapidly began synthesizing the poison and absorbing its components, granting him full immunity.

"That too."

He then grabbed the staff and released its concentrated poison magic. A thick fog rose that he inhaled instantly. He felt his brain melting for a short moment as he suddenly went completely blind, but then everything returned to normal and he felt invigorated instead.

"Good enough. SS Rank Poison or Poison Magic... it seems like I can absorb anything no matter what."

Riven stared at the notifications as his entire heart started beating faster and harder. He could no longer keep himself stable. He collapsed onto his knees, feeling waves of potent poison flowing wildly through his bloodstream.
