Delayed for Four Lifetimes: I Awaken by Investing in My Crippled Wife
Chapter 326: The Incredible Power Of Divine Ki Heart Refinement Art
-----
Riven glanced at the skill’s new form, and the moment the skill was learned and then evolved, Riven felt like he could do something amazing with it already. He read the description one more time just to be sure of the limits before he started.
After making sure, he didn’t even hesitate anymore, immediately activating the Skill and gathering large quantities of Ki within his chest, which flowed like white and golden ethereal liquid and winds.
The energy moved faster than usual and filled his chest until it felt almost full. These states of energy ultimately fused into an ethereal, almost ghostly, white-colored heart, pumping constantly, composed entirely out of flowing vital energy, Ki, the very essence of lifeforce itself.
The new heart settled into place and began circulating the Ki on its own. After that, Riven let out a small sigh as he felt his aura surging massively as his eyes widened as he felt the Ki surging from his body, reaching his palms and then condensing into a pinhead-sized sphere, which he threw toward desertic mountain with mostly no life in it.
He aimed carefully so the blast would stay away from any living creatures, as a result the entire mountain completely disappeared, as a blinding white explosion consumed everything within a kilometer, massive pieces of rubble falling everywhere, causing a huge cloud of dust to rise into the skies.
The dust stayed in the air for a long time and slowly drifted with the wind. Noticing it’s become much stronger, Riven went and decided to try something else afterward, gathering the energies within himself. He sat down first so he would not lose his balance if the process drained him too quickly.
He began to concentrate Ki into his Divine Ki Heart, slowly refining it into a small white bead, it took a while and it completely exhausted him of all his Ki, making Riven fall to the floor exhausted, as if he’d been drained of all his energy, he almost looked like a mummy for a second before his cells activated and began to revitalize him quickly.
The recovery started almost immediately, but it still left him sitting on the ground for several seconds to a minute. It was definitely not something he could afford to do in the middle of a battle though.
"Hah, what the hell was that?" he thought, almost laughing at the sheer ridiculousness of the situation. "I almost died...! But... I made it! So all my current Ki can only make a single bead? It’ll take me hours to recover it all again, and I cannot do this in days I’ll be hunting either..."
He looked at the small white bead in his hand and already started calculating how many days of rest he would need before he could attempt another one.
Riven thought about the possibilities of what all of this could mean. "I guess I can accumulate one or two every day, if I don’t fight that day?" he wondered, sitting down.
He leaned back against a nearby rock and started counting the days in his head.
However, as he sat down, he heard a growling sound coming from his stomach.
The noise was loud enough that even Noir turned his head toward him for a second.
"Now I’m hungry again?!" he felt his stomach rumbling. Realizing this was very likely connected to his production of Ki and Vitality.
The timing matched the heavy use of Ki he had done earlier, so the link felt rather obvious.
"I suppose generating and spending so much Ki drained me of all my vitality, meaning, calories too. If I eat more that means I can create more Ki too... Hmm..."
He opened his inventory, as hundreds of plant monsters, leeches, and other critters dropped, their dead corpses stinking a little. His Aura surged, beginning to consume them, he gained no skills, talents or stats, but he was regaining his Ki like that.
The bodies disappeared one after another while the Ki gauge in his status started climbing again, yes, he had a Ki gauge now, even though it didn’t really show any numbers.
"I guess Gluttony can help me recover my Ki really fast if I eat a lot, but I don’t know if it’s sustainable," he thought. "Anyway... so this is a Divine Ki Bead?"
He took it out of his Divine Ki Heart, it was a small white bead, but it emanated a divine aura to it, so majestic it seemed to warp space itself. The bead felt heavier than its size suggested once it rested in his palm.
"This is like holding a nuclear warhead with my fingers, I have to be careful, if this falls and cracks, I don’t know what would happen... it’s like a bomb."
He quickly placed it back inside his Ki Heart, the Divine Ki Bead turning ethereal and disappearing on his chest. The moment it settled back into place the pressure in the air around him dropped.
"Haaa... alright, which skill is next? Ah, Talents! This time I got... two."
Unlike Skills, Talents couldn’t usually grow beyond their established ranks and were usually passive effects that affected an Awakened person’s growth and what they can learn or obtain as they grow stronger. For example, someone with a Sword Master Talent will be naturally capable of developing Sword Skills easily, etcetera. He opened the Talent window next and prepared to check the two new ones that had appeared.
Riven was quite special in that he could continuously gain more and more talents. This allowed his full potential to continuously grow, increasing the possibilities of his own growth and never having a defined ceiling. He could continue to grow endlessly.
Most Awakened were stuck with the few talents they received early on, but his situation kept opening new paths without any clear limit.
[Talent Acquired: [Vampire Bloodline – A Rank]: You are a servant of the vampire families and have finally inherited a small, insignificant drop of their blood after serving them with loyalty for centuries. You have attained a Vampire Bloodline and can now enjoy various of their powers, such as Blood Manipulation, Blood Energy Cultivation, Super Regeneration, Supernatural Senses, Immense Vitality, and Incredible Cursed Magic Talent. However, as a Lesser One, you are also affected by Weakness to Sunlight, Garlic, Silver Bullets, etcetera.]
"Oh? Wait, this... this kind of sucks?"
Naturally, this Talent was perhaps the first one that also came with a drawback, making Riven almost regret ever eating that damn Blood Core.
However, it all changed in the next system message.
