Chapter 273: Daniela’s Incredible Potential, Planning Which Skill Books She Could Get

Riven continued talking to Daniela and her incredible potential due to her high luck. There were a couple of amazing skills out there that were often seen as crappy because of their low chances of success, but that could become truly amazing when paired with her high luck increasing those chances. One such example was the Reaper’s Scythe Skill Book. However, due to the tremendous rarity of such a skill book, if they wanted to be more realistic, there were other options available as well.

"Well, if we want to be more reasonable about our expectations, we could also find the Gravity Magic Grimoire. Gravity Spells can reduce an enemy’s Health Points by a certain percentage," he explained patiently. "The strongest ones reduce it by half. Imagine that. They have very low hit chance, so luck is necessary. They’re also among the few magic spells that can critical hit, increasing their damage on top of the percentage decrease based on luck."

"O-Oohh! I had no idea... how do we even get these items?" she wondered aloud, her voice filled with curiosity as she glanced around the misty orchard. The soft fog clung to the twisted trees, and the air carried a faint sweetness mixed with the scent of damp earth.

"Yeah, that’s the neat part. You don’t," Riven smiled at her with a knowing look.

"Eh?" Daniela tilted her head in confusion, her green hair swaying slightly in the light breeze.

The truth was that these were items that had yet to appear within the world, but that would later show up in the gates that would begin to appear here and there across the world.

Besides the gates he was already conquering, Riven planned on also conquering other gates himself, those that had yet to appear.

When a Gate is generated, there are also Limited Time Treasures. These are items inside of treasure boxes hidden within the Dungeon.

When a Gate appears, hunters go there like crazy, but it usually gets seized immediately by a higher family of hunters or a high ranking one goes there with their guild, completely blocking anybody from entering.

That’s where they rob the entire dungeon of their Limited Time Treasures and keep them for themselves, so the rich keep growing richer and stronger, and the weak and poor become even weaker and poorer, forced to even pay just to enter these gates.

Riven was not only going to take everything himself but he was going to conquer those dungeons as well and then give them back to the people.

Hell, he might even let them take any loot they find there, mostly because he’s desperate and wants people to grow as quickly as possible on a massive scale.

Nevertheless...

"Over here?"

Daniela rode Noir as the wolf sniffed the air carefully and guided them into a large hole in the mud, which led somewhere deeper and darker. The opening was jagged and uneven, as if something massive had forced its way through the earth long ago. Thick roots dangled from the edges like skeletal fingers, and the ground around the entrance felt soft and unstable underfoot.

"It looks dangerous and very deep. There’s not even stairs or anything..."

Daniela didn’t really like the look of it at all. The opening seemed to drop straight into endless blackness, and the smell of damp earth and rotting vegetation rose from below in thick waves. A faint, cold draft drifted upward, carrying with it the distant sound of dripping water.

"Tsk, just go inside!"

Vladimir barked at her roughly, making Riven get angrier in an instant.

"Don’t scream at my girl."

He slapped the back of Vladimir’s head firmly and then gently patted Daniela’s head with a softer touch.

"Did he scare you? Sorry."

"It’s fine, hehe. I’m used to Uncle Vladimir being mean. I know he’s just jealous I’ve bonded more with Noir than he has!"

"Tche! S-Shut up! The young master and I are developing a good relationship, right?!"

He looked at Noir hopefully, but the wolf simply averted his gaze and closed his eyes, completely ignoring him.

"G-GAH?! YOUNG MASTER?!"

Vladimir gasped in pure shock, grabbing his head with both hands and collapsing onto his knees in dramatic despair.

Noir was the only remaining pillar of his sanity, the little child of Fenrir.

Being ignored by him meant everything fell apart for the proud werewolf.

"I might as well just end it," he sighed dramatically, his sharp claws pointed at his own neck. "Riven, let me do this quickly."

"Stop messing around," Riven sighed, forming a bubble of invisible telekinetic energy around the group. "Let’s go."

He descended through it into the muddy hole, going deeper and deeper into the hidden section of the dungeon. The walls around them shifted from soft mud to harder packed earth, and the air grew cooler and heavier with every meter they dropped. Moisture clung to their skin. The faint light from above gradually disappeared, replaced by a dim, natural glow coming from strange fungi growing along the walls.

He saw caves full of dark water and underground swamps where giant fish monsters swam slowly through the murky depths, their scales glinting faintly in the dim light. Long, slender shapes moved just beneath the surface, and occasionally a large fin or glowing eye would break the stillness of the water.

There might even be some hidden bosses in this secret area of the dungeon, but he didn’t explore too much. Time was limited, and a stronger presence was calling to him from below.

He could feel it clearly now.

The Dungeon Core was close. A powerful pulsing presence of pure mana could be felt from afar, growing stronger with every meter they dropped. It felt ancient and heavy, like the heartbeat of the entire dungeon itself. The air around them began to vibrate softly with residual energy, and even Noir’s ears twitched as he sensed the growing pressure.

"We’re getting closer. Get ready for anything."

Although Dungeon Cores were usually unguarded as they were hidden and inaccessible by most, after that event where they faced Ignias, Riven and Vladimir weren’t going to lower their guard again.
