Meanwhile, outside of the Dungeon, back in the real world, Riven watched what had just unfolded and nodded silently to himself.

The Giants had indeed proved to be incredibly competent. They had managed to take down every last member of the Yakuza while carefully keeping their innocent captives alive and unharmed.

They were now using their gifted abilities to nurse and heal the wounded, while the rescued captives stared at the massive beings in complete disbelief. Most of them were still too afraid to even speak a single word.

"They’ve proven to be an amazing asset. With them around, I don’t have to worry about the Dungeon anymore," he thought while looking around at the aftermath.

After his earlier attack, the entire restaurant had been left in complete ruins. The corpses of the half-frozen, half-Yokaified Yakuza still lay scattered across the floor, creating an eerie and deeply gory scene that no ordinary person would ever forget.

Label was trembling behind him, carefully shielded by Noir’s living shadows.

"T-That was a little too excessive..." she said with a heavy sigh.

Riven simply smiled. "Maybe, but I was tired of being stealthy. Let’s go."

He kicked aside a large pile of rubble, uncovering the hidden stairs that led downward, and quickly descended with Label close behind him.

Their footsteps echoed loudly through the underground tunnel.

The remaining Yakuza down below, already incredibly alert and panicking about the explosion they had heard moments earlier, stared at him in pure disbelief as he calmly walked into view.

Riven looked around with mild interest. The underground base seemed freshly dug out of the raw earth. Several of the walls were still nothing more than packed dirt and natural stone.

"You’ve been digging quite something down here," he said while examining the rough construction. "Is this where you keep the girls?"

"...Girls?" Label looked at Riven in sudden disbelief.

"These bastards don’t just make drugs, Label," Riven explained, recalling the future he had once lived and everything he had investigated about their true activities. "They deal with a lot of human trafficking. They kidnap young girls and sell them to rich sickos. They were going to eventually sell you as well, once they had squeezed enough money out of you."

"..."

As Label tried to process the horrible truth she had just heard, the Yakuza who were still watching them in silent shock raised their weapons and pointed them directly at the pair.

"D-Did you do this?! Did you make that explosion outside?! Are you behind this?!"

"Where is everyone else?!"

"What have you done, bastard?!"

"From where do you come from? Who do you answer for? Who is your boss?!"

"Boss?" Riven raised an eyebrow. "Don’t have any. I work alone."

"?!"

They simply could not believe it.

Someone as strong as him was working completely on his own, going out of his way to risk his life just to take down gangs?

Who would ever do such a dangerous thing, let alone... by themselves?

They noticed Label standing behind him, but it was obvious she was not a direct combatant.

"Y-You...! Don’t belong to any family?!"

"W-Why would you...?!"

"Someone so strong...! This is impossible!!!"

In this corrupt society of hunters, anybody who possessed strength like Riven’s almost always belonged to some massive family. And although he had once been part of one, he had cut all ties with them long ago.

It was hard for them to even process that the man standing in front of them was the closest thing to a comic-book vigilante that existed in their world.

Though, perhaps he was far more ruthless than any comic-book hero.

"Shall we begin?"

The Yakuza took several nervous steps backward. None of them truly wanted to fight him.

They could feel his heavy aura, see the blood covering his clothes, and sense the malefic power radiating from his divine sword.

There was no chance in hell they were winning this fight.

Some of them immediately dropped their weapons and raised their hands in surrender.

"Y-You cowards!"

But the strongest among them refused to allow any surrender.

He pulled out a syringe and injected its contents straight into his neck.

"We are proud warriors! Don’t you dare surrender!"

With a furious roar he began to transform, mutating into a skinny, creepy-looking yokai with extremely long black hair.

His living hair shot outward and pierced everyone around him, turning the weaker members into mindless puppets while injecting them with his cursed spiritual energy.

"Kill him!"

"G-Gaaaahhhh!"

The cowardly Yakuza were forced to fight Riven to the death like broken dolls.

Riven shook his head in mild disgust. "You guys are the worst. No mercy even against your own people?"

He swung his blade in a clean horizontal arc.

Netherworld King Swordsmanship.

His sword blazed with cold netherworld flames as a wave of blue fire burned straight through the controlling hair and the bodies of the puppets, then continued onward to slam into the Yokaified leader behind them.

BOOOM!

"Ugh?!"

The monstrous half-yokai collapsed onto the ground in agony. His long black hair burned completely away as Riven calmly walked toward him.

All those the monster had manipulated now lay motionless on the floor. Label quickly checked their vitals and realized they were all brain-dead and slowly dying.

The hair had pierced their nerves and destroyed them completely, including their spines and brains.

"Just who do you think you are to do this?!"

The Yokai hissed in rage, forced himself back to his feet, and leaped onto the ceiling. He then rushed toward Riven with his giant claws wrapped in deadly cursed energy.

SLASH! SLASH! SLASH!

Three deadly claw strikes were unleashed in rapid succession but Riven easily blocked every one of them. His Biological Armor surged around his body and combined with his Tyrant Embodiment Scales, forming the powerful Dinosaur King Armor Synergy.

"...?!"

While the Yakuza desperately tried to buy more time, Riven simply extended one hand, caught the creature by the neck, and tightly gripped it.

"Gyaaaaack!"

The monster screamed in agonizing pain and frantically slashed at Riven’s face and body, yet it was completely unable to pierce his reinforced skin.
