Delayed for Four Lifetimes: I Awaken by Investing in My Crippled Wife
Chapter 108: Trapped Inside A Dungeon, Hunted By Giants
-----
"Yakamura! Boss! Please wake up!"
Yakamura slowly woke up, opening his eyes wide as he looked around in complete confusion.
"Ugh...! W-Wha...?!"
One moment ago he had been taking care of the biggest of the two abandoned factories, where over fifty captives were constantly making drugs and other illegal products for the black market.
They had been ready to start shipping the next large batch when suddenly something terrible and completely unexpected happened.
Something no Yakuza member could have ever hoped to imagine would happen in their entire lives.
Or well, any normal person for that matter.
A massive Gate, an interdimensional tear in space itself, opened right in the middle of the factory floor and violently syphoned everyone inside — including the entire factory structure — into an endless black void.
From that moment Yakamura and the rest of the American Yakuza group lost consciousness completely.
Just now, as the one in charge of this group and someone who sat at a solid C Rank in overall stats and skills, he had been responsible for taking care of this entire operation.
That included the captives and even the other Yakuza members. There were a bunch of newbies these days, so he constantly had to make sure they would not start messing around or slacking off on the job.
It was supposed to be just another nice, easy day. He would check the new products, pack them up carefully, and send them off while making money without much effort.
Later he planned to go to his favorite restaurant, enjoy a delicious bowl of ramen, and then eat some freshly made sushi for dinner before drinking sake until midnight with the big boss.
Another day of "good and honest work," indeed.
And yet... here he was now, trapped in the depths of a freaking dungeon.
He did not even realize at first that he had pissed and shat himself during the transfer. He smelled absolutely terrible.
"Uugh..."
He slowly stood up, groaning in pain from the rough landing.
"B-Boss, are you ok—"
"I’m fine! Get off me!"
He roughly pushed the worried newbie away and groaned again, clicking his tongue in irritation as he looked around in pure disbelief.
"Just where the hell are we? Inside a dungeon? Where’s the Gate that brought us here? Hey!"
He quickly called out to the other Yakuza members gathered nearby. Some of the captives had already run away into the darkness, but the majority were still unconscious or had been caught and forced back into the group.
"We’ve been trying to find that Gate for a while already, Yakamura-sama."
"Hmph."
Yakamura looked closely at one of the newer members. The man’s clothes still looked relatively pristine compared to everyone else’s.
"Oi."
"Y-Yes?"
"Take off your clothes."
"..."
"Did you hear what I said?"
"B-But..."
"Take them off right now and give them to me."
"..."
"NOW!"
"Okay!"
The terrified newbie bowed deeply and quickly undressed almost completely, leaving himself in only his underwear.
Yakamura nodded in satisfaction and put on the cleaner set of clothes before dropping his own filthy ones right in front of the young man.
"Clean them."
"But sir, we’re inside a dungeon right now..."
"CLEAN THEM!"
"Yes...!"
The newbie nodded rapidly and walked away with the dirty clothes in hand. Yakamura quickly took full charge of the situation, walking around the area and carefully analyzing everything he could see.
"Any news? Who’s gone out to scout the surroundings?"
"We sent two people earlier, sir. They haven’t returned in over an hour."
"...Tsk!"
Yakamura kicked the man who answered hard in the stomach without warning.
"Gaaaha?!"
The subordinate groaned in agony, vomiting whatever remained in his stomach before rolling on the ground in pain.
"Damn useless fucking bastard! What do I even pay any of you for?! HAH?!"
He started kicking and abusing his own subordinate mercilessly, leaving the man as a bleeding mess on the cold stone floor.
"Damn fucking bastards! You’re all completely useless!" he roared in frustration. "How do you expect me to walk out of this place alive?! HAH?! Who’s going to take responsibility for this mess?!"
"..."
"..."
"..."
How could any of them even respond properly? It was not as if this situation was their fault. This had been a complete accident beyond anyone’s control.
And yet Yakamura did not know any other way to handle pressure except by intimidating someone else and beating them down.
This was the only method he had ever used to move through life.
They all quickly knelt before him, bowing so low that their foreheads touched the dirty floor as they begged for forgiveness in trembling voices.
"Please forgive us!"
"It was an accident, Yakamura-sama!"
"We are very sorry!"
"W-We will do our best to find a way for you to escape safely!"
"Tsk, tsk. You better hurry the hell up then, shitheads," Yakamura said coldly. He walked away from the group and began exploring the immediate surroundings on his own. "We’re inside... some kind of cave-type dungeon? No, it looks like a full labyrinth too..."
He noticed abandoned stone walls and the remains of old houses scattered around. In the far distance he could just make out the outline of a large castle.
Then—
RUMBLE!
"?!"
A giant monster suddenly emerged from one of the dark corridors. It was a headless knight clad in ancient armor.
"Shit...!"
Yakamura felt a surge of pure fear consume him as he instinctively took a step backward.
He was indeed ranked as "C Rank," but he had never actually fought any monster that truly matched his rank in a real battle.
He mostly abused his power and status within human society, barely if ever stepping into any Gate himself.
Because of that, he had almost no real idea how to fight against something like this.
"YOU...! HAVE YOU COME TO ROB MY KING’S TOMB?! PERISH!"
The Giant Headless Knight roared with a hollow, echoing voice and swung a massive ghostly sword toward the group.
"Gaaaahhhhh!"
Yakamura screamed in terror and immediately ran away, deliberately leaving everyone else behind as living bait so he could make it out of the area alive.
Quickly after he fled, the screams of agony from his subordinates echoed through the corridors alongside the desperate cries of horror from the remaining captives.
"Shit, shit, shit! I have to get out of here right now!"
As he ran like a complete coward, the people he abandoned cried out behind him.
"Yakamura-sama! Wait!"
"Uuaaaggh!"
"What the hell is that thing?!"
As he sprinted with all of his remaining strength, desperately trying to put distance between himself and the monster, he suddenly saw another group of survivors appear out of nowhere.
"HUH?!"
The huge factory structure itself lay partially intact nearby, with several more captives and other Yakuza members who had only landed there a few minutes before his own group.
"Y-You bastards...! You got kidnapped by the Gate too?"
"Huh?! Boss Yakamura! You’re here as well!"
Yakamura looked back over his shoulder and noticed several large silhouettes rapidly approaching through the darkness.
He started sweating cold as the giant’s heavy footsteps made the ground tremble beneath his feet.
"Fuck!"
Without hesitation he grabbed the nearest subordinate and threw the man hard onto the ground, using him as fresh bait while he tried to run away once more.
However—
"Enough."
Another giant figure suddenly appeared right in front of him, blocking his path completely.
"?!"
It was a powerful, wise-looking giant man with pale blue skin, pointed ears, long silvery-white hair, and sharp yellow eyes. In his hands he held a gigantic axe forged from gleaming mithril.
He was the Leader of the Ten High Giants that Riven had summoned earlier.
Ragnar, the Wise Warrior.
