Chapter 2601: Chapter 1181: Human Homeland, God’s Paradise

"What do you think it is?"

Xia Hongmian exhaled and kicked away a piece of gravel.

"I don’t know!"

The tunnel was narrow and cramped, like a winding goat trail. The torch light barely reached a distance, casting a dim glow only within seven or eight meters around them. Beyond that, it was utter darkness.

Being in this tunnel, one felt a tremendous sense of oppression.

If someone had claustrophobia, they could be scared to death.

"Have you noticed that your skin feels sticky?"

Xia Hongmian asked in return.

"Hmm?"

Lin Baici was wrapped tightly, also wearing goggles, with almost no skin exposed.

He felt some dampness, but he always thought it was from sweat.

"Over time, our skin will melt, followed by flesh and bones. In twelve hours at most, we’ll turn into a puddle of mush!"

Xia Hongmian explained about the rule pollution.

"Are we now inside a monster’s stomach?"

Lin Baici widened his eyes, carefully observing the surrounding walls.

"Not a monster, but a god!"

Xia Hongmian shook the Golden Torch: "If there was no light shining and you could see in the dark, you’d notice those stone walls slightly squirm, just like the walls of a stomach!"

"That’s the First God digesting!"

Xia Hongmian revealed a shocking secret.

Lin Baici frowned, feeling a bit nauseous at the thought that what was on his body wasn’t sweat but digestive fluid.

"An ordinary person entering here would instantly get dizzy and weak, and visibly turn into liquid within a quarter of an hour!"

Xia Hongmian laughed, "Of course, ordinary people wouldn’t even get this far!"

"God Hunters last a bit longer. How long they’re digested depends purely on their constitution, but even a Dragon Level can’t withstand it for 12 hours!"

"Oh, and this place is a maze."

Lin Baici soon reached a fork in the path.

Grumble!

Lin Baici’s stomach growled, urging him towards the right path.

He didn’t remind Xia Hongmian, since she also chose this path.

Evidently, Xia Hongmian had her methods for detecting directions.

"Do you know how I judge the direction?"

Perhaps it was out of boredom, or worried that after death, she’d eternally rest here without another chance to speak, Xia Hongmian was exceptionally talkative now.

Lin Baici initially wanted to ask if she was using some sort of Divine Grace related to predictions, but his instinct told him that Xia Hongmian’s torch might not be just for illumination.

"With the torch?"

Lin Baici probed.

"That’s right!"

Xia Hongmian tightened her grip on the torch: "As long as I hold it, a correct direction will arise in my heart!"

"Whether in reality or on life’s path, I won’t lose my way!"

"Oh!"

"This was the first Taboo thing I ever acquired!"

"In game terms, it’s like starting off with a Divine Armor, otherwise I might not have made it this far before dying."

There was a hint of nostalgia in Xia Hongmian’s voice.

"Director, you’re very humble. Without the talent and aptitude to harness Divine Armor, you wouldn’t have reached this level!"

This wasn’t flattery but the truth.

Xia Hongmian was only a few years older than Lin Baici but was already the top in Kyushu, possibly even the world.

Without this strength and confidence, how else could she dare come alone to the Antarctica Divine Ruins to contain the First God!

"You’re actually better than me, given that you’ve been a God Hunter for just over a year!"

Xia Hongmian sighed, "Sometimes I wonder if bringing you here was a mistake?"

"In ten years, you might grow to hunt gods alone!"

"Of course, humanity might not last another ten years!"

Lin Baici smiled, "We’re already here, no point in thinking about all that nonsense!"

"What I mean is, don’t risk your life. If things go south, just run if you can!"

Xia Hongmian advised.

This long, winding ice tunnel was a dead end for other God Hunters. They would be completely digested by the First God, leaving no trace, in this arduous and endless search for an exit.

With both Xia Hongmian’s hope torch and Lin Baici’s hunger radar accurately pointing the way, six hours later, they emerged from the narrow tunnel into a massive cavern.

The cavern was so large it could fit a city inside!

Drip, drip!

A sticky liquid constantly dripped from the cavern’s ceiling, corroding the clothing the moment it hit.

The ground was covered with a thick layer of ice, like a giant lake that never melts.

"Where do we go next?"

Lin Baici surveyed the area; the ice was thick and transparent, like a giant crystal.

"Let’s search here first. If Uncle Nine died, he’d most likely have died here!"

Xia Hongmian instructed and began walking on the ice.

Twelve fist-sized fireballs appeared around her, scattering in all directions.

"Won’t the body be digested?"

Lin Baici was curious.

"Uncle Nine was one of the top world-class powerhouses. Even in death, he would leave clues!"

Xia Hongmian explained.

Half an hour later, Xia Hongmian’s ghostly fire found Uncle Nine, frozen into an ice lump, in a corner.

Or rather, in his final moments, Uncle Nine had encased himself in ice to avoid being digested.

Xia Hongmian bowed towards the body.

Lin Baici did the same.
