Death Notice

Book 10: Chapter 50: Final Gospel

  • Next Chapter

“@%……@…” The giant human face projected above the crystal sphere slowly opened its eyes and uttered a series of beautiful and pleasant sounds. But the Apostles had lost their Law Bodies, and the Angel Clones could not automatically translate these words.

The female face of the projection seemed to realize this. Two soft beams of light shot from her beautiful pupils and scanned everyone. Slowly, a trace of surprise appeared on her face.

Under the projection’s light, everyone only felt brightness before their eyes, but it was not dazzling. They felt a warm sensation all over their bodies, as if they had returned to a warm womb.

“You are not one of the two successor races our clan expected… though you bear faint traces of our technology. However, our clan is not selfish. As long as you have entered Paranto, you are qualified to inherit our civilization’s legacy.”

The projected face showed a hint of helplessness and continued, “Welcome, future inheritors of civilization. My name is Sanova, the last consciousness projection left by the Angel Race!”

“Sanova, can you interpret the… books here?” Finding the crystal sphere non-threatening, Robin moved to the front of Bobby’s mech and asked cautiously.

“Books? Hmm, that is a beautiful word. But, I am sorry, miss. The items stored here by our clan are not what you imagine as books. Our clan stopped using books as tools for civilization inheritance ten thousand years ago.”

The projected face smiled and said, “The items stored here are all fragments of the final legacy.”

“Fragments? You mean these items that can be flipped through and look like computer chips are all parts of something!” Dean asked with an excited and curious expression, “Do these record the technology and cultural history of the Angel civilization?”

“No, this legacy site does not contain our clan’s technology, culture, or any other knowledge inheritance. When our clan left this legacy ten thousand years ago, we already placed all technological and humanistic knowledge in several other locations in Paranto. Since you have reached here, I believe obtaining those conventional legacies should not be a problem for you.”

There was no technological legacy of the Angel Race here? The Apostles looked at each other in surprise. This was an unexpected answer.

“Then what is left here?” Sawa stepped forward and asked curiously.

“The power of the Gospel. What remains here is the Gospel power discovered by our clan.” The face projection smiled and explained, “Since you can enter this place, it means you have some understanding of our clan’s history. Then you should know that our clan took the wrong path during evolution, which ultimately caused our entire race to lose the will to continue reproducing.

However, our clan did not gain nothing from this process. When our ancestors transformed life into spiritual forms, although they took the wrong path, they still opened the door to life’s evolution and glimpsed a secret of the universe’s laws.”

At this point, the face projection seemed to feel a bit tired. The light emitted by the crystal sphere dimmed slightly. “I did not expect that this legacy site, after only ten thousand years, would have its energy depleted to this extent. I do not have much time left. Let us begin quickly!”

“Wait, please wait, we still have questions…” Robin said urgently, but the face projection no longer paid attention to her. It slowly raised its head, its eyes glowing brightly, emitting countless slender beams of light.

“Robin!” Qin Lun grabbed the beautiful Leader’s arm and shook his head at her.

“Qin Lun, stop it quickly! We came here mainly to obtain the Angel Race’s technology. It must have a way to help us.” Robin shouted anxiously.

“Why stop it? Its energy is running low. Even if there is a backup of the technological legacy, transmitting it would consume energy. It probably won’t be able to demonstrate the Gospel power anymore. Have you forgotten our Main Quest is ‘Final Gospel’?” Qin Lun frowned and asked.

“Of course I haven’t forgotten, but I have a feeling that this ‘Final Gospel’ probably won’t help the Gith with their current predicament.” Robin stared angrily at the young man. “Qin Lun, don’t forget what Alex and the others risked their lives for. Are you going to let them down like this?”

“We are Apostles. The Star Void mission is the team’s main goal!” Qin Lun said expressionlessly.

“Is that really what you think? What about the rest of you?” Robin suddenly calmed down and turned to look at the other Apostles behind her.

“I don’t know. Lord Qin Lun might be right, but in this world… the Faith, Dr. Norton, Alex, and those Ordnance Officers… they are admirable people. Without their Sacrifice, we wouldn’t have been able to enter here. My brother and I are willing to give up this mission’s rewards!” Dean glanced at Loben and shrugged.

“Hey, kid, this is the first time I find you somewhat likable!” Bobby’s voice came from inside the mech.

“Shut up, none of your business!” Dean blushed and shook his fist at Bobby’s Bingren.

“I’ll follow the Leader!” Sawa said with a smile. “I like archaeological activities, but I don’t necessarily have to possess the archaeological items!”

“Young master!” Frank, who had been silent all along, called out softly behind Qin Lun.

“Alright then!” Qin Lun turned to look at Frank and saw a pleading look in the honest hunchback servant’s eyes. He finally sighed and released Robin’s arm.

“Sanova, please stop! We do not need to inherit the Gospel power. Please transmit some of the Angel Race’s technological legacy to us!” Robin shouted at the face projection.

“Sorry, miss, I cannot change my mission!” The glowing-eyed face projection paused slightly but did not stop its actions.

Each beam of light emanating from its eyes landed precisely on the “books” on the stone pedestals. These “books,” which were neither metal nor iron, floated up one by one and flew towards the crystal sphere. Centered around the crystal sphere, they slowly converged and merged in the air, gradually forming a huge cubic object.

The surface of this cube shimmered with flowing light, displaying ever-changing colorful hues, like a large, unpredictable magic cube. The face projection above it slowly dimmed and disappeared.

Then, the cubic magic cube suddenly bloomed like a Firecracker. All the Apostles saw nothing but blinding whiteness, and a wisp of holy white light suddenly appeared deep in their consciousness.

Deep within the white light, a group of tall and fit figures seemed to walk slowly from afar. This group included both men and women, all with a pair of wings on their backs. Some had pure white Angel wings, while others had wings as black as ink, like dark fallen angels.

The only thing they had in common was that their faces were somewhat blurry. The group’s footsteps did not seem fast, but Qin Lun felt as if they reached him instantly. One of them, a white-winged Angel who appeared to be female, stepped forward from the crowd and looked at Qin Lun as if her gaze had substance.

“Future inheritor, my name is Sanova. These are my final words. Our Angel Race was born in the Gith Star System, and our civilization lasted for millions of years. Although our lives have ended, we still hope that future intelligent life can inherit the flame of civilization left by our clan.

As a reward or final wish, our clan will leave behind the Gospel power obtained during our exploration of life’s evolution. We hope this Final Gospel can help future inheritors continue to explore the secrets of the universe and assist all uncivilized intelligent life in the universe to advance…”

“Boom…” After a brief preface, the real Angel Sanova suddenly became solemn. Her tone gradually rose, and she began to sing a beautiful and melodious song.

The song was not in any language Qin Lun recognized, and he did not understand its meaning. But he unexpectedly felt a sacred and grand sound resonating in his heart. Without realizing it, tears streamed down his face.

Qin Lun had never experienced such a mood before—so peaceful and serene, as if all worldly matters had drifted away from him. He even wished to remain immersed in this moment forever.

After the earlier burst, the colorful lights on the cube in the underground palace flickered intermittently. But Qin Lun and the others seemed to have been immobilized by the cube. They were enveloped in a layer of radiant light, standing motionless in the underground palace.

While Qin Lun and the others were still, new changes occurred in the underground palace. The neatly arranged stone pedestals silently sank into the ground, while the underground palace itself rose upward unnoticed.

The giant tunnel through which Qin Lun and the others had entered earlier shortened section by section like a telescopic monocular. The entire underground palace was ascending towards the surface.

The ascent seemed slow, but in just a few minutes, it had already risen to the position where Qin Lun and the others had just passed through the silver gate, and soon approached the stone platform hanging from the tunnel ceiling.

Surprisingly, the location of the underground palace where the crystal sphere—now the combined cube—was located happened to be exactly at the center of the stone platform. A mechanism sounded inside this stone platform hanging from the flat tunnel ceiling, and it slowly opened…

While changes were happening in the legacy site, earth-shattering transformations also occurred outside this Ruins.

“Boom! Rumble!” A series of thunders echoed high in the sky of the Paranto plane. Dark clouds heavily covered the land. Creatures large and small in the plane seemed to face doomsday, frantically running out of their nests and fleeing towards areas not covered by clouds.

The clouds above the Ruins rolled like galloping horses. This Ruins was originally a funnel-shaped pyramid, sunken in the center of the mountain range. But now, the center of the sunken bottom of the Ruins—that ordinary-looking square stone platform—was slowly rising, triggering a chain reaction throughout the entire Ruins.

The massive steps surrounding the Ruins began rising from the very bottom, lifting the central stone platform. The entire funnel-shaped pyramid was actually reversing, about to transform into a true giant pyramid standing in the center of the mountain range.

Three bright spots floated up near the Ruins. Qin Mei, who had been hiding nearby, emerged from her hiding place with Junko and the bald man.

“Haha, this must be big brother’s doing! I knew that once the Faith was destroyed, big brother wouldn’t be able to swallow his anger and would definitely retaliate!” Qin Mei squinted her eyes, laughing so hard she bent over backward, extremely happy.

“That’s not what you said back then!” Junko behind her rolled her eyes and couldn’t help muttering softly.
