Death Notice
Book 10: Chapter 41: Angel’s Legacy
“Notification: The Silver Team of the Patrol entered the ancient ruins plane, triggering the subsequent Main Quest ‘Angel’s Legacy’.”
“Angel’s Legacy (Major General Rank): Towards the end of their civilization, the Gith Angel race slowly discovered they had made a serious mistake in their evolutionary path. Semi-permanent spiritual life ultimately could not escape the threat of death, and more serious signs indicated that members of the Angel race often lost their will to live even before reaching their natural lifespan.
However, hope still remained. The wisest among the Gith Angel race undertook two revolutionary efforts. One was related to the new individual division of spiritual life, and the other was about creating clone bodies anew for spiritual lives.
But both research projects required a very, very long time to show results. At that very moment, the original Gith Star System met its planetary life terminator—Jannamer.
All members of the Gith Angel race exhausted their Life Energy to temporarily seal Jannamer deep within the star system, preventing them from destroying the two experimental planets. Meanwhile, to ensure their possible descendants could inherit the ancient Gith civilization and carry on the Angel race in another form.
They placed everything into the ancient Gith capital—Paranto, a small life plane transformed over countless ages. They left one of Jannamer’s natural enemies, the then unhatched Cosmic Octopus egg, before the gate of the plane.
Ironically, the Gith Angel race, which never believed in Mysterious Power and always relied on technology, gave this project a highly religious name—the Gospel Project, and called the civilization legacy they left in Paranto—Final Gospel!”
“Quest Objective: Assist one’s own Sapient Races in obtaining the Final Gospel. The final completion rate of the quest will be based on the amount of information acquired.”
“Notification: The two major life factions are cancelled. All Apostle teams entering Paranto are in a competitive relationship and cannot share ‘Angel’s Legacy’. At the same time, the quest evaluation is raised by one rank, and the final Exploration Rate reward is increased to 150% of the original.”
“Main Quest Base Reward: 200,000 Shattered Crystals, 50 Contribution Points, 20 points increase in Soul Life Limit, one Advanced Class Credential (rank corresponds to Apostle title).”
“Major General Rank quest difficulty!” After reading the task information again, Qin Lun could not help but fall into thought.
The Major General Rank quest difficulty was the highest he had encountered so far. Based on past experience, Colonel Rank difficulty already corresponded to High Rank combat power. Of course, so-called High Rank combat power did not necessarily mean individual powerhouses; it could also mean corresponding group combat levels.
As for Major General Rank, it indicated that this small plane would involve combat power at the Legendary Domain level. Qin Lun had encountered Legendary Domain Sapient Races before. The Magician Hollke and the Druid Master Vima in the Nals World were both true Legendary Rank powerhouses.
However, seeing them was one thing; fighting them was another. Nals was a training plane where Legendary powerhouses were restricted by the Star Void agreement from harming them. In the Gospel World, that might not be the case; they might very well have to fight Legendary lifeforms.
This ancient ruins plane clearly held significance for the Star Void, but due to rule constraints, it had to take a roundabout way to guide them here.
Before seeing the so-called “Final Gospel,” Qin Lun could not determine whether the Star Void’s goal was the Exploration Rate or the small plane itself.
After all, many of the Suspended Continents in the Shattered Starry Sky were transported from other spatiotemporal worlds. It was entirely possible that they coveted this small plane with its complete ecological environment; the Exploration Rate brought by the “Final Gospel” might just be an added bonus.
The unusually high quest rewards given by the Star Void seemed to indirectly indicate the significant value here. The base reward alone was nearly twice that of the original Main Quest, and there was even an Advanced Class Credential.
Qin Lun once had a Low Rank Class Credential, the “Jungle Credential”—Unicorn Soul, which he obtained during his Jungle Hunter Class Change. It eventually became the Artifact Spirit of the white spear “Angel’s Praise.”
Artifact Spirit type rewards were indeed very tempting, and even Qin Lun found it hard to resist. The final Exploration Rate reward was even more astonishing.
Their original Main Quest, “Seize Victory,” which ended inconclusively, already had a double Exploration Rate reward. Now, with a further increase to 150%, it was equivalent to triple the base reward.
While pondering the quest information, Qin Lun absentmindedly watched the projection recording. Apart from the important information at the beginning, the rest mostly consisted of geographical environments recorded by Robin and others using their mechas.
Blue sky, white clouds, grasslands, forests, lakes—although the Paranto plane was a small plane, its area was no smaller than that of a life planet. Even someone as indifferent as Qin Lun felt the natural environment was beautiful; the Gith Angel race had put a lot of thought into their capital home.
Robin and the others’ projection was very long. Looking at the time record, Qin Lun realized he had been unconscious for at least over two days.
“Huh, what’s this?” Seeing the new creature appear on the projection, Qin Lun straightened up in the spherical cockpit seat.
He witnessed a battle between indigenous life forms of the plane. One side was a primitive humanoid creature, very similar in appearance to humans. It stood on two legs, had rough features, wore an animal skin skirt around its waist, and held a wooden club made from a tree.
Compared to Gith humans, this “person” had an extra vertical eye between its eyebrows, making it a three-eyed person. The creature it was fighting had thick rhinoceros-like armor and was an even-toed animal. Judging from the exposed mammary organs on its lower body, it was likely a viviparous animal.
Given Paranto’s complete ecosystem, Qin Lun had seen many strangely shaped life forms in the projection since earlier. These two creatures caught his attention not just because of their appearance.
“So big!” Qin Lun adjusted the projection and finally confirmed his discovery by comparing the surrounding scenery.
The projection recorded by Robin and the others was taken from a high altitude, making it impossible to determine the size of these two creatures. However, by comparing them with the surrounding trees, Qin Lun found that these two creatures were at least over a thousand meters tall, more than ten times larger than the Bingren Mecha.
“From their simple combat movements, they don’t seem like killing creatures specifically created by the Angel race, but could this small plane’s ecosystem really produce life forms of this size?” Qin Lun’s face slowly showed a trace of interest.
“Qin Lun, finished watching the projection?” Robin’s voice came through the Team Channel.
“No, not yet. I saw a three-eyed giant battling a giant rhinoceros!” Qin Lun replied with a laugh. “You guys really captured some interesting stuff.”
“Heh, there’s more than just two types of giant creatures here!” Robin said lightly. “The latter part of the projection records more. This Paranto is like… a farm for giant creatures. I estimate the true Gith Angels originally had very large bodies, at least no smaller than the Bingren Mecha!”
“Hmm, alright, giant humans.” Qin Lun curled his lip and asked boredly, “Before I finish watching, is there anything else you want to spoil?”
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to spoil it, but you need to watch quickly. The last part is important!” Robin said cheerfully.
“The last part…” Qin Lun sighed, sped up the projection playback, and fast-forwarded to the last 10% of the recording. After watching for a while, he raised his eyebrows. “A village? Have those three-eyed giants developed a primitive civilization? Huh, what’s this? A funnel-shaped trapezoidal pyramid—did you find the location of the Gith Angel ruins?”
“Yeah, I think so. During the two days you were unconscious, we explored about a quarter of the entire plane. We found this in a canyon to the southwest!” Robin’s tone gradually became serious.
“What about the other directions?” Qin Lun’s eyes flickered as he asked calmly.
“We didn’t dare to go deep into the east and north. Suspicious camps appeared in those two directions. I suspect there’s more than just our team here.” Robin said gravely. “Before you woke up, we didn’t want to alert the enemy!”
“Not surprising. If we could guess the truth about the wormhole, other teams could too. Not to mention the team that ambushed the Faith!” Qin Lun raised his eyebrows. “Call everyone back. Let’s discuss the new Main Quest!”
…
“I think we can delay entering the Gith Angel ancient ruins for a bit!” Balin casually threw a piece of firewood into the campfire and clapped his hands.
“Reason?” Qin Lun asked noncommittally.
“The time flow rate here is slower than outside. Even if other teams entered a few days earlier, the actual difference might only be a few minutes. In other words, they just got here too.” Balin replied with a smile.
“Everyone saw the grid-like shield at the wormhole exit. It’s unlikely other teams just happened to have Bobby’s ability. I don’t think they have warship-level firepower here. Although the Advancing is almost scrap, given the Ordnance Officers two more days, they should be able to repair one or two weapon systems.”
“Veto! We can’t pin our hopes on that. We’ve seen the Jannamer offspring. Without the support of Apostle abilities, the Gith weapon systems would be heavily suppressed.” Qin Lun pondered for a moment and did not remain silent as he had in previous discussions.
“As for the other two major races, the Insectoid have strong reproductive abilities. Delaying would only benefit them more. Although we haven’t encountered the Hismael yet, they are the most likely team to have ambushed the Faith. In other words, they are more familiar with this place and better prepared. We can’t give them more time.”
“Another important point: did everyone see the stay duration below the Main Quest?” Robin reminded softly. “When we first entered the Gospel World, we had a total of fifty stellar days. When we entered the wormhole, half remained. But after arriving here, it changed to one week.”
“Now… there’s just over five days left!” Robin paused before adding, “I believe it’s the same for other teams. Perhaps the Star Void never intended for us to traverse the wormhole again. In five days, we will directly end this Otherworld Mission here.”
“So, this is where the final resolution will take place!” Qin Lun looked up with interest.
