Death Guns In Another World

Chapter 2023 - 2023: Another Bandit's Attack 1

As dawn broke over the horizon, the caravan prepared to continue its journey toward Rivermere. Saeko felt a lingering sense of unease from the previous day’s ambush, the adrenaline of battle still fresh in her veins. The merchants, though grateful for her protection, carried a tension in their expressions, their nerves frayed after the earlier attack. They moved with a sense of urgency, knowing that danger might still lurk around every corner.

The caravan resumed its course along the winding path, flanked by dense forests. Saeko rode at the front, her senses heightened as she scanned the surroundings. The morning sun filtered through the branches overhead, casting dappled shadows on the ground, but her instincts warned her that they were not out of danger yet.

As the day wore on, Saeko remained vigilant, her heart racing with the anticipation of another potential attack. Just as they reached a narrow pass between two rocky outcrops, a chilling silence fell over the caravan. The air was thick with tension, and Saeko could feel the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end.

“Saeko, do you sense anything?” one of the merchants asked, his voice trembling slightly.

“Stay alert,” she replied, her eyes scanning the trees. “I have a bad feeling about this.”

Before she could say more, a piercing whistle echoed through the air, followed by a chorus of shouts. Bandits emerged from the treeline, their faces partially obscured by masks, but their movements were swift and coordinated. Saeko’s heart sank as she recognized the telltale signs of a more organized group of attackers.

“Get to the wagons!” she shouted, drawing her katana and positioning herself protectively in front of the caravan. “I’ll hold them off!”

The bandits surged forward with a relentless determination, and Saeko could see that they were well-armed and disciplined. Unlike the disorganized mob from before, these attackers moved as a unit, strategizing as they approached. They had clearly come prepared for a fight, and Saeko knew she had to act quickly.

The first bandit lunged at her, swinging a heavy mace. Saeko sidestepped, using her own momentum to launch a quick counter-attack. Her katana sliced through the air, catching the bandit off guard and forcing him to retreat. But before she could catch her breath, another bandit charged in, flanking her from the side.

Saeko barely managed to block the blow with her katana, feeling the impact resonate through her arms. She gritted her teeth, focusing on her footing and the wind that swirled around her. Summoning her energy, she released a gust that sent the attacking bandit stumbling backward.

“Stay close to the wagons!” she shouted again, her voice cutting through the chaos. The merchants scrambled to secure their goods and find shelter behind the sturdy wagons, but Saeko knew they were still vulnerable.

The bandits regrouped, their leader—a tall figure clad in dark leather armor—gestured to the others, barking commands. Without hesitation, they split into smaller teams, attempting to flank Saeko and overwhelm her. This was a coordinated assault, and she felt the weight of the fight pressing down on her.

With a fierce battle cry, Saeko charged at the nearest group of bandits, her katana gleaming in the sunlight. She focused on one of the attackers, a burly man with a wicked grin, and launched herself into the fray. The wind surged around her, lending her speed as she weaved through their ranks.

The first bandit swung a sword at her, but she ducked low, rolling under the blade and springing back to her feet. She countered with a swift strike, the blade catching him off guard and sending him reeling. The second bandit rushed in, but she anticipated his move, sidestepping and using the wind to propel herself into a spinning kick that sent him crashing to the ground.

But as she fought, Saeko could see the other bandits closing in. The leader was directing them with precision, and they began to encircle her, using their numbers to their advantage. She felt her heart race as she realized she needed to change her tactics.

“Time for a new strategy,” she muttered to herself, scanning her surroundings for any advantage. The wagons were sturdy, and she knew she could use them to create barriers. With a determined resolve, she called upon the wind once more, creating a swirling gust that pushed against the nearest bandits, forcing them back.

Using the distraction, she dashed toward the wagons, positioning herself between them to create a defensive line. The bandits hesitated for a moment, clearly caught off guard by her sudden shift in tactics.

“Now!” she shouted to the merchants. “Use anything you can find to defend yourselves!”

The merchants rallied, grabbing whatever they could—wooden crates, tools, and even the remnants of their supplies. They formed a makeshift line behind Saeko, ready to defend themselves under her guidance. The tension in the air was palpable as the bandits regrouped, their leader glaring at Saeko with a mix of annoyance and determination.

“Get her!” he shouted, raising his sword high. “We’ll take her down and seize the goods!”

With a roar, the bandits surged forward, but Saeko was ready. She focused on the wind around her, channeling its energy to enhance her movements. As the first wave of attackers approached, she unleashed a powerful gust that sent them sprawling back, creating a barrier of swirling air that slowed their advance.

“Now!” Saeko called out to the merchants, her voice steady and commanding. “Aim for the legs! Trip them up!”

As the bandits struggled against the wind, the merchants hurled their makeshift weapons—crates and tools—at the attackers, catching several off guard. Saeko watched as one bandit stumbled, falling to the ground, and she seized the opportunity to strike.

With a fierce determination, she dashed forward, her katana flashing as she dispatched the downed bandit with a swift slice. The wind surged around her again, fueling her confidence as she turned her attention back to the others.

The leader of the bandits, now furious, rallied his remaining comrades. “Regroup! We’ll take her down together!” he bellowed, his voice carrying over the chaos. The bandits exchanged glances, clearly shaken by the unexpected resistance from the merchants.
