Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God
Chapter 933: Operation Targeting the Marauders
"Do you want me to find a chance to take out Schreiber?"
Hearing Li Hua's words, Lin Yu's mouth twitched, and he nearly couldn't keep his composure.
"I'll do my best, Comrade Li Hua. If what you say is true, his level should be quite high. Although he's only Second Tier, after inheriting the legacy of the previous generation's Freud... his direct combat ability may itself be not insignificant."
"Moreover, he was able to fool the Hunters' Association's Phoenix in Night Valley, and this time in Misty Islands, even a Fourth Tier couldn't see through his schemes. They even suffered a hidden loss because of him. This guy's ability to plan is evident, and he must be a cautious, meticulous person. So even if I run into him, there's no guarantee I'd achieve anything."
"Besides... I might not even encounter him in a dungeon."
Lin Yu said to Li Hua.
Li Hua nodded. "I'm just telling you to keep an eye out. You're Second Tier after all. When both parties are Second Tier, the probability of running into each other is still there."
"Alright, that's everything I needed to say. The other thing is... this operation targeting the Psychological Society can be considered a major success. They've been severely weakened, and now they also have to guard against that Schreiber who obtained the first-generation Freud's inheritance." Li Hua paused. "Although what I'm about to say isn't an existing organizational decision, just my own inference, I believe... our next phase of work will likely focus on the Marauders. You should also make preparations. After all, your record against the Marauders is currently undefeated, and you've dismantled their operations multiple times, so the organization will probably prioritize you... They don't know I've assigned you a task. The Central China branch might very well use you."
Lin Yu raised an eyebrow. "What about the Free Alliance?"
"The Free Alliance was never something we could manage anyway. Last time's bet was an exception. They don't even have a base, and their members are elusive," Li Hua shook his head. "Unless there's confirmed intelligence that someone is about to advance to Third Tier or Fourth Tier, there's no need to pay them special attention."
"I understand," Lin Yu said, stroking his chin. "What direction would the operation likely take? Something like uprooting the Psychological Society's strongholds?"
"That definitely won't be the case. Real-world operations like that are an absolute minority. Without complete confidence and certain gains, we won't move. Dealing with the Marauders will likely focus on the Ten Realms," Li Hua mused. "Weakening their influence within the Ten Realms, striking at organizations and natives that cooperate deeply with the Marauders... that should be the general process."
"Of course, if it conflicts with your schedule, you can also choose not to participate. I'll just let them know for you."
Li Hua said calmly.
Lin Yu thought about it and nodded. "Alright. If there really is a conflict, I'll come find you."
A month ago, Lin Yu would have agreed immediately.
But now... he really couldn't say whether he'd be free!
At this point in the conversation, Li Hua had clearly said everything he needed to.
However, he wasn't in a hurry to leave either. Instead, he picked up the menu.
After all, Lin Yu hadn't finished eating yet, and it was indeed mealtime.
"How's the food here? Is your light meal good?"
Li Hua asked.
"Pretty average," Lin Yu shook his head, lowering his voice so the waiter couldn't hear. "And it's not that this particular dish is below standard. I can taste it. The entire restaurant's standard is pretty average."
Li Hua flipped through the menu. "Oh, indeed, looking at the dishes, it's not very authentic... But the prices are quite affordable, so it's fine."
"This kind of environment, decor, and it's still in a downtown location. Being able to get something hot to eat at this price is already pretty good."
He waved over a waiter and casually ordered a seafood fried rice and a Basque dessert. Just those two items already came to three digits.
Lin Yu really wanted to comment on what Li Hua had just said. After all, in his view, the price was the biggest disadvantage, but unexpectedly, Li Hua considered it an advantage.
But considering Li Hua's registered residence and identity, Lin Yu felt everything was so very reasonable.
"Is this the difference in consumption views..."
He had the urge to take Li Hua to find a roadside noodle shop and show him what Jiangcheng prices should rightfully be called "affordable."
Soon, the fried rice was served, and Li Hua took a bite.
"Oh, it's surprisingly tasty," Li Hua savored the fried rice with his spoon. "Better than most fried rice I've had in Haicheng. The aroma is quite rich."
Lin Yu looked at that oily fried rice that clearly didn't look like it would taste good, which had only a large amount of seasoning, lots of oil, diced meat, and barely any visible seafood. Once again, he forcefully suppressed the urge to comment.
"Maybe your dish really is tastier than mine."
Lin Yu said with a smile, while internally unable to resist complaining.
Although Li Hua was indeed wealthy, this guy's taste buds were truly exaggerated. This fried rice was completely street stall quality.
Lin Yu even began to suspect something: Could it be true that in urban romance dramas and novels, those young mistresses who grew up eating at high-end restaurants and private chefs, never touching worldly fare, would find a bite at a roadside stall or commoner shop absolutely delicious?
But regardless...
"For this guy to have survived a dungeon directly designed by the Banquet God, it's truly a miracle..."
Lin Yu sighed.
Thankfully, Hannah's Sixth Uncle hadn't specially designed any segment purely testing culinary appreciation ability at the time, otherwise Li Hua would have had a hard time getting out in one piece.
Watching Li Hua elegantly yet happily finish the entire plate of fried rice, then finish the dessert and wipe his mouth with a satisfied expression, Lin Yu sighed and finally couldn't hold it in anymore.
"Comrade Li Hua."
"What is it?"
"Next time you pass through somewhere like Jiangcheng, let me know. You can come to my home, and I'll treat you to a meal."
Li Hua found it strange that Lin Yu suddenly said this, but he still nodded. "Alright, then I'll taste your cooking... But are you very skilled at cooking, Director?"
"I'm fairly confident, after all, my sister ran a small restaurant while she was alive, and the food was quite good," Lin Yu said. "If she were still here, I could have had her cook for you."
Li Hua nodded. "That's a pity."
"Yes, a pity," Lin Yu smiled. "But my skills aren't bad either, and you could say it's a family tradition passed down."
With that, Lin Yu stood up.
"Anyway, if there's nothing else, I'll be going... Talking about this with you reminded me, Captain Gao Shan mentioned treating me to a meal. I'll give him a call in a bit and see."
"I'm fine now too, I need to head back to Haicheng," Li Hua stood up, leaning on his walking cane, and nodded. "Remember to contact me if anything comes up... Also, I should be passing through Jiangcheng around the middle of next month."
