Death… And Me
Chapter 4615: Only Time Will Tell
Going back into the Great Void, one could find the Zasfin Planet in the Mortal Realm of the Lisan Universe. Back then, the Zasfin Planet had been a world of ice, but that hadn’t always been the case. The planet had turned cold because of Celis.
It wasn’t that Celis had wanted to do it. The Zasfins had captured him and forcibly used his abilities for their own benefit, causing the planet to grow colder and colder over the years. They couldn’t bring themselves to give up the advantages of using Celis, however, and eventually, the entire planet ended up frozen.
Of course, hundreds of thousands of years had passed since Celis left with the twins’ group. Even Celis himself wasn’t certain exactly how long it had been since that time. Without him constantly affecting the planet’s climate, however, the world had slowly recovered its original environment.
The ice had melted, forests had grown again, and life had once more flourished across the planet. When Celis stopped in front of the Zasfin Planet, he even wondered if he was looking at the same place. Of course, he checked the charts before approaching, so there was no doubt that this was the same solar system and the same planet he remembered.
After arriving, Celis changed into his humanoid form. Perhaps because he had been so deeply connected to the planet’s environment in the past, but the Zasfin Planet seemed to have an unusually high number of Demon Plants. They were still a minority, of course, but compared to any other average planet covered in lush vegetation, this world had tens of times more Demon Plants.
That said, when Celis began walking through the streets of the cities on the Zasfin Planet, no one paid much attention to him. Demon Plants in humanoid form could be seen here and there among the crowds. They were still rare, but not so rare that someone couldn’t find one after looking around for a while.
Out of curiosity, Celis also checked what had happened to the Zasfin Race. Back then, they had been considered a race with exceptionally strong Soul Power, and that advantage had allowed them to dominate the planet. The twins’ group hadn’t changed much in that regard, and the Zasfins were still very much in power on the planet right now.
The difference was that the other races had also begun to gain a place in the sun. Some of them had formed alliances strong enough that the Zasfins in their territories had to think twice before trying to cause trouble. There was no longer an absolute imbalance of power like there had been in the past.
Overall, the planet was doing quite well.
After visiting several cities for a while, Celis disappeared and reappeared in the area where he had been sealed all those years ago. The structure that had once imprisoned him was long gone, with only some scattered ruins remaining. Hundreds of thousands of years could truly make an enormous difference.
Back then, this had been one of the most important places on the entire Zasfin Planet, if not the most important. An entire city had once surrounded the place where Celis had been imprisoned, but nothing remained of it now.
Celis pondered for a moment as he looked around with curiosity. At the very place where his roots had once taken hold, from which they had spread across the entire planet, there was now nothing more than a shallow hole.
Celis changed back into his original form and placed himself there.
It didn’t take long for him to find the fossils of the roots he had left behind. If he wanted to, he could regrow everything in no time, and it wouldn’t take long for the planet to turn into a frozen world once again.
Of course, Celis had no intention of doing anything like that.
Instead, he left the ground a moment later, although something remained behind.
A seed.
It looked completely ordinary.
Demon Plants weren’t born as Demon Plants. They became Demon Plants over the years, and that transformation happened purely by chance. Of course, under the right conditions, such chance was much higher. Celis had used his seeds before, especially back when he was inside the old Soul Gem and Celestial Soul Dimensional Realms. However, this was the first seed he had ever left behind that would truly have a chance to grow without his supervision.
Celis nodded slightly.
The chances were that this seed would grow into a Cedar, but that was probably all that would happen. He was fairly certain it would never evolve into a true Demon Plant. He could make such an evolution more likely to happen by providing the right conditions, but Celis deliberately decided not to interfere.
"One chance, so you’d better put in the effort," Celis murmured.
The seed obviously couldn’t hear him, but Celis didn’t mind.
Following that, Celis disappeared again, this time reappearing in the area where his group had found the portal to the Realm of Gods.
Unlike the place where he had left his seed, this area was absolutely buzzing with activity.
A huge city could be seen from above. With his Sense, Celis could tell that almost one hundred million residents were living there. That was an enormous population for a single city on a planet in the Mortal Realm.
The reason was the structure standing at the very center.
The very same portal that the twins’ group had used to ascend to the Realm of Gods was still there.
No, it was no longer the same.
The portal had been greatly enlarged, and it was currently active. It seemed that the Zasfin Planet now had a direct connection to the Realm of Gods.
That was quite surprising. Celis knew that the portal they had used back then could only be activated once. Afterward, it would no longer possess the necessary conditions to activate again. Without a doubt, the planet had received visits from cultivators from outside, especially from the Realm of Gods, who had helped rebuild and modify the portal.
Celis had no intention of intervening, of course.
The Lisan Universe had changed drastically since his time on this planet, especially after its unification and the war against the Garisan Empire. Mortal Planets with direct connections to the Realm of Gods had become fairly common nowadays, and some of them could even connect to the same universal network available in the Realm of Gods.
But then, Celis noticed something else, and he couldn’t help but feel strange.
At the very top of the structure keeping the portal active, a name could be seen.
—The Celis God Ascension Portal—
Celis stared at it for a moment, clearly puzzled.
He hadn’t really talked to anyone about his time on this planet after ascending. He had no interest, after all. If anything, he was the reason the planet had been frozen in the first place. Why would anyone use his name for the portal?
But then again, Celis’s existence back then was a closely guarded secret by the highest echelon of the Zasfin Race. The vast majority of the population had never found out he was the one responsible for the ice age.
"This definitely has something to do with those two," Celis said in a low voice, thinking about Kentucky and Rean.
For a moment, Celis wondered if he should simply destroy the thing. After all, having his name plastered across an enormous structure wasn’t exactly something he had asked for. In the end, however, he decided against it. There was no real harm in leaving it alone.
Celis spent the rest of his month traveling around the planet, observing how much the world had changed while pretending to be nothing more than an ordinary Stage Five Demon Plant. He visited cities, watched the different races interact, and quietly observed the descendants of the races he had once known.
No one ever realized who he truly was.
When the month finally came to an end, Celis left the Zasfin Planet without anyone ever knowing that he had returned.
As for the seed he had left behind...
Only time would tell what would eventually grow from it.
