Death… And Me

Chapter 4595: I Was Getting There

‘What?!’ Luxa was taken aback. ‘I did nothing!’

Lunelle, meanwhile, just kept quietly eating her Godly Crystal.

“I know.” Rean smiled and stroked Luxa’s head. “What I mean is that you were created by the experts of the Thousand-Script Race and the Goslau Great Void. Have you all noticed it yet?”

Rean turned to the rest of the group, answering his own question. “In the story Roan and I saw through the History Echo, the old fox and raven fled everywhere. They could even use some of the Goslau Great Void Echo, yet they were always caught and forced to fight their way out.”

Rean shifted Luxa onto his shoulder. “Isn’t that too strange? That’s the Great Void Echo we are talking about. They should have at least managed to stay away from the Goslau experts, but they couldn’t.”

Roan quickly caught Rean’s line of reasoning. “As the creators of the fox and the raven, they must have a built-in way to track them down. Furthermore, the fact that they had a way to damage an RC without anyone noticing shows the Thousand-Script Race’s incredibly high affinity for Arrays and Runes.”

“Exactly,” Rean confirmed. “So, Luxa, you did nothing wrong. They just know how to find you.”

Celis looked confused. “But… how come they didn’t find Luxa before now? She had been out there in the open, inside her womb, for who knows how many years?”

Rean shook his head. “I’m not entirely certain, but I have a few theories. The first is that the Thousand-Script Race was genuinely shocked to see Luxa and Lunelle here in the Celestial Plane. Maybe they never even considered the possibility that these two would be sent to this place.”

“That’s impossible,” Kentucky pointed out. “If they didn’t know, how could Lunelle’s womb have been used to connect Woster to the Goslau Great Void Echo?”

Rean shrugged. “Who said it was a member of the Thousand-Script Race who made use of Lunelle? We don’t know that for sure.”

“In any case, the option I find more likely is the second one,” Rean continued. “I think that while they were still inside their protective wombs, whatever tracking method was used simply didn’t work. They needed to be born first.”

Roan decided to cut the speculation short. “Whether you are right or wrong doesn’t change our immediate reality. The fact is that they might indeed be tracked. If they aren’t, it means there is a traitor in the Godly Subjugation Guild who leaked our mission route to an outsider.”

“However, I highly doubt that’s the case,” Roan added. “Tobao is very protective of us. I’m certain he took every precaution to ensure that news of our departure never left the guild. That leaves the bunch of cultivators we helped when we left Besgol, but they wouldn’t have known our destination anyway, so they are likely unrelated.”

‘Then…’ Luxa narrowed her eyes. ‘Does that mean I have to stay hidden forever? I can’t leave Besgol anymore?’

“Hardly,” Rean assured her. “We just need to find out how you are being tracked, that’s all.”

Of course, that was easier said than done… or so it should have been. However, the twins’ group possessed an advantage others didn’t: Sister Orb and the Great Void.

“Roan, send Lunelle inside. I’ll enter with Luxa as well. The rest of you guys can start flying back to Besgol,” Rean instructed.

No one complained. Roan promptly sent Lunelle into the Great Void, and Rean followed suit, disappearing alongside Luxa.

Lukay watched them vanish, utterly puzzled. “Do you guys have something in there that can detect a tracking method?”

“I’m not sure,” Roan answered flatly. “But in the worst-case scenario, I am certain the tracker won’t be able to pierce into that space. It’s an entirely different dimension.”

“Well… that’s true,” Lukay agreed, still completely unaware of Sister Orb and the existence of the System.

With that settled, Roan took control of the flying vessel and turned it around. Their plan to spend a few more days hunting would have to be delayed. Naturally, he had no intention of flying in a straight line back to Besgol. He plotted a convoluted detour on the vessel’s map and set their course.

Following closely behind, Aurundi kept pace. He kept his Celestial Sense spread wide the entire time, determined to react the moment anything felt out of place.

*Zush, zush, zush…*

Back inside the dimensional space, Rean materialized at the center of the Vinx Great Void, where Sister Orb was already waiting for them.

Lunelle didn’t look particularly happy. She preferred staying close to Roan and hadn’t matured enough to willingly follow instructions yet.

Rean offered a comforting smile. “Don’t worry, it shouldn’t take long.”

[Alright, so the theory is that they have some method of tracking these two, correct?] Sister Orb asked.

“That’s what I’m leaning toward,” Rean responded.

[However, you have to understand that tracking doesn’t necessarily mean they implanted a physical device or a specialized signal. In fact, there is a very high probability they are being tracked simply due to their unique racial traits and inherent connection to the Goslau Great Void. If that’s the case, there isn’t much I can do to remove it. Only by keeping them inside this isolated space can we guarantee they won’t be followed.]

‘I don’t want to stay in here! There are no Godly Crystals, everyone is weak, and it’s boring!’ Luxa complained.

[Well, let’s take a look first.]

Sister Orb’s energy enveloped both Luxa and Lunelle, drawing them closer. The unique Echo of the Vinx Great Void permeated their bodies as Sister Orb scanned for any anomalies that could serve as a beacon.

She systematically checked their bloodlines, their eyes, and their elemental affinities. She searched for hidden devices, concealed arrays, latent runes, or any external spiritual marks. Yet, she found absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. But then…

[Huh?]

Suddenly, Sister Orb pulled Lunelle and Luxa closer to one another. Just as they were about to touch each other, she noticed a shift.

[Their eyes…]

Rean stepped closer, noticing it too. Their eyes had begun to emit a faint, synchronized glow.

The moment Sister Orb pulled them apart, the effect vanished. When she brought them close again, the glow returned without fail. That gave her an idea, and she decided to look for something completely different. Turns out she did find something.

[Well, I’ll be damned. These two are just like you and Roan. They possess a Soul Connection capable of sharing their respective elements with each other.]

Rean was genuinely shocked by the revelation. “Are you sure?”

[Positive,] Sister Orb confirmed. [Luxa, can you feel your connection with Lunelle?]

Luxa blinked, looking puzzled. ‘What do you mean?’

[Mmm… It’s a bit hard to explain. Think of it as an invisible bridge. For instance, you’ve probably noticed that no matter how far away Lunelle is, you can always sense her general direction, right?]

‘Oh!’ Luxa nodded vigorously. ‘Yes! I always know exactly where Lunelle is!’

Rean looked up at Sister Orb. “Is that because of a system as well?”

[Just because a soul connection exists doesn’t mean it requires a system to function,] Sister Orb explained. [You’ve encountered a few individuals in the past with similar bonds, particularly when it manifests as a rare racial trait. Regardless, their connection functions almost the same way as yours and Roan’s.]

Rean came to a sudden realization. “They were deliberately engineered to be this way.”

[Exactly,] Sister Orb confirmed. [The system reincarnated the two of you with that bond. Meanwhile, Lunelle and Luxa were created in a similar way as well. That’s why I recognized immediately.]

[In fact, this connection is likely one more reason these two feel so incredibly attached to you and Roan, not just your pure Yin and Yang energies.]

Rean nodded slowly. “That makes sense, and it’s good to know, but… does it have anything to do with how they are being tracked?”

[I was getting there.]
