Death… And Me

Chapter 4593: Quick Run

Roan stroked Lunelle’s head as he descended toward the ground. He definitely wasn’t going to leave behind the Spatial Ring of a Law God. There could be quite valuable cultivation resources inside it, and there was no reason to simply let them disappear.

However, before he could reach it...

*Ziu!*

*Vup!*

*Kabrum!*

A powerful Lightning Element attack suddenly descended from above, giving Roan almost no time to react. Fortunately, Roan hadn’t lowered his guard for even a moment. The instant he sensed the incoming attack, he didn’t hesitate. He grabbed Lunelle and entered the Great Void with her.

The attack, however, hadn’t actually been aimed at Roan. He had simply been standing in its path.

The lightning struck the Thousand-Script Race expert’s corpse instead, instantly pulverizing his body along with everything he possessed. His Spatial Ring, clothing, and any other belongings were all reduced to nothing.

Inside Rean’s airplane, the group watched as the body was completely erased. Not even a trace remained.

They couldn’t help but feel fortunate that they had kept the airplane at a considerable distance. Had they been closer, they might have been noticed by whoever was responsible for the attack through Godly Sense or Celestial Sense.

"Was that..." Lukay began, but before he could finish...

*Vup!*

"Yes, it was," Roan answered as he suddenly appeared inside the airplane with Lunelle in his arms. He immediately approached the window and looked outside, but he couldn’t see anyone. "Someone else was inside that airplane. That cultivator just erased all evidence that we were attacked by a member of the Thousand-Script Race."

Celis’s attention, however, was focused somewhere else. "Whoever was inside that airplane is leaving now. I won’t be able to detect them for much longer. I’m only relying on my perception of the surrounding Celestial Energy, after all."

Kachia’s expression darkened. "They came here with the intention of killing us, and we won’t be able to do anything about it?"

Roan shook his head. "We already did plenty. That guy thought he had me completely under control, and I used the opportunity to kill him. He was a high-stage Law God, probably at the Late Stage. That’s a significant loss for Natak, even if they initially had more Law Gods than Besgol."

"That won’t happen again, though," Rean commented.

Roan knew exactly what he meant and nodded. "Indeed. They now know what I’m capable of. If they send someone after us again, they won’t make the same mistake."

"They’ve left my detection range," Celis then pointed out.

"Just let them go," Roan said. "They failed, and they don’t know where we are. It’s obvious that our airplane’s beacon was being used to locate us, and with it turned off, they have no way of finding us. Even if they somehow did, we have the Great Void. They just don’t know about it. They would be powerless against us regardless."

Lukay couldn’t help but look at Roan with a strange expression. "How did you move just now? That Law God seemed to have completely restrained you."

"I only made it look that way," Roan explained. "What he could perceive through his Celestial Sense was that I was an Aura God at the Peak Stage. He based his restraining power on my apparent cultivation alone. I also deliberately made it look like I was exhausted and barely capable of moving after that ’battle’ with the Godly Beast. As far as he was concerned, I was no longer a threat."

Indeed, if Roan were to use his full strength, he could display power equivalent to a Middle Stage or even Late Stage Zone God. The restraining power used against an Aura God was far from enough to stop him.

"As for the sword, that was simply bait," Roan continued. "When I dropped it, he assumed I was completely unarmed. But, as you all know, I use Elemental Intent Weapons. They only materialize when I want them to. I simply had to wait until he stopped worrying about me before finishing him off. There is nothing better than an enemy who judges a book by its cover."

*Caw!*

Lunelle flew to Roan’s shoulder and rubbed her head against Roan’s face again. She didn’t understand anything about what had been said, but she was clearly happy that he was fine.

Or perhaps she was simply happy that her source of pure Yin Energy was still intact. Who knew which one it was? Probably both...

Roan paid her antics no attention. "Too bad that guy’s Spatial Ring was destroyed as well. He definitely would have had some good cultivation resources inside."

"Should we go back?" Kentucky asked. "Even without any proof, I doubt Senior Tobao will question our word."

"Before that, what happened to Aurundi?" Celis asked this time. "Was he killed?"

"Now that I think about it..." Kachia looked outside. "Wasn’t that a Lightning Element attack? Could it have been Aurundi? He’s a Voltari, just like Lukay."

Lukay immediately shook his core. "No. That was definitely not an attack from a Voltari. The lightning produced by our race carries a unique trait. It’s similar to the bloodline characteristics possessed by your flesh-and-blood races. There’s no way I wouldn’t notice the difference. Whoever attacked Roan at the end was absolutely not Aurundi."

Roan nodded. "I doubt it was Aurundi as well. The power behind that attack felt much greater than what an Initial Stage Law God should be capable of. Aurundi only became a Law God within the last few decades, after all."

"So..." Kachia’s expression became somewhat gloomy. "Does that mean he was killed?"

"Hm?" Celis suddenly noticed something. "The airplane is coming back. But this one..."

Everyone immediately looked outside the window.

However, this time, the approaching airplane wasn’t concealing itself with the Light Bending Array Plates. Because of that, the twins’ group immediately recognized it. "Hey, that’s Aurundi’s airplane!"

Celis focused on it for a moment before pointing something out. "The energy waves coming from Aurundi’s airplane are slightly different from the ones from the airplane that left earlier. It’s not the same airplane, I guarantee you that."

"Could it be the enemy inside?" Rean asked.

"Hey, look!" Lukay suddenly called their attention.

The hatch of Aurundi’s airplane opened, and the Voltari Spirit floated out. He quickly descended toward the area where Roan had been attacked earlier.

However, Aurundi suddenly stopped. Then, he turned toward Rean’s airplane. Well, he was only a core surrounded by flowing lightning, so the twins’ group couldn’t actually tell where he was looking.

Lukay, however, could. "He found us. He can sense the Lightning Element coming from my core."

A moment later, a powerful voice echoed across the surroundings. "I know you’re there. What the hell is happening here?!"

Yeah, now everyone was certain. Aurundi knew they were there. "Let’s go out and talk to him."
