Death… And Me

Chapter 4562: I Need You

Azerion opened his eyes, still confused about what was happening. Then, his memories came flooding back like a torrent. Rean had suddenly cut his soul out of the array in a single strike, and the pain had been so intense that he had passed out instantly. For a moment, Azerion had genuinely thought that he should have been dead when he woke up, but that didn’t seem to be the case. In fact, judging from how clearly he could think and sense his surroundings, he seemed to be very much alive.

"Y-You!" Azerion quickly pushed himself up and pointed at Rean. "Were you trying to kill me?!"

"Hahaha!" Rean laughed out loud. "Death is my brother’s department. I lean more toward life, you know? Take a look at your soul first, then we can talk."

Roan didn’t even bother retorting to Rean’s comments. He simply remained nearby, leaving Azerion to figure things out for himself.

Azerion slowly lowered his finger as he concentrated on his soul. The pain was still quite intense, but it was manageable. Soon, he noticed the ’mending’ that Rean had performed to put both parts back together.

Fortunately, the two parts had always maintained a very thin connection with each other, and that was precisely what Rean had used to bring them together again. Without that connection, the procedure would have been considerably more complicated, perhaps even impossible under the circumstances.

That wasn’t all, though. Azerion could see many of the runes from the array swirling around the portion of his soul that had been taken out of the sealed space. They resembled the Divine, Celestial, and Godly Sense Runes that Rean had worked with several times before, almost as if the ancient civilizations had created them with that very purpose in mind.

"It’s all back in the right place... The damage is serious, but recoverable..." Azerion said in a low voice as he examined the state of his soul more carefully.

Rean heard that, though. "But of course! Did you forget what I told you? I’ve performed this kind of soul-cutting procedure before. I’ve healed many souls as well. That’s why your soul is in such good shape. Of course, the rest of the recovery can only be performed by you. You could say I prepared the terrain for your soul to recover."

Rean then turned his eyes toward the outside, a smile appearing on his face. "Leaving that aside, take a look. This is the real world."

Azerion’s attention immediately shifted toward the airplane’s windows. Outside, he could see the overcast weather and the rain falling from the sky. "Is this... rain?"

"Oh! You know rain? Coyui here didn’t know," Rean commented.

Coyui was still in a trance as he looked outside, so he didn’t even hear Rean’s comment.

Azerion nodded. "I heard about it from Tany..."

"I see..." Rean didn’t pursue the topic. He knew what Tany had done to Azerion, and there was no reason to drag those memories back into the conversation.

"In any case, you will be able to experience everything you want from now on. Well, maybe you’ll have to go to an exercise camp for a while. You’re still pretty much a skeleton. You need some meat!" Rean said.

Azerion looked down at himself, and he couldn’t deny that he looked more like a ghost than anything else. His body was little more than bones, and even after everything that had happened, he hadn’t exactly had the opportunity to recover physically. Still, the fact that he could once again experience the outside world made that problem seem almost trivial.

As he grew accustomed to his surroundings, Azerion also noticed something else. The overwhelming Godly Pressure he had lived with for countless years was nowhere near as intense as it had been in Woster. More importantly, its concentration was actually getting lower and lower as the remaining pressure continued dispersing into the surrounding environment.

That was another undeniable proof that he was truly outside Woster.

"By the way," Rean decided to warn Azerion, "Your connection with that sealed space and the womb was, without a doubt, the reason why you haven’t run out of lifespan yet. This shouldn’t be the case anymore, so don’t think you have forever."

Azerion didn’t mind. "It’s fine. Being free is worth a lot more than another eternity locked in that place."

"Wait!" Azerion suddenly remembered something. "Then what about my part of the deal? I haven’t allowed you to get the Power of the World yet."

"Oh, don’t worry," Rean said. "We already got it. Truth be told, I’ve never really needed your help for that. I just needed you not to intervene. Since you were unconscious, getting it was possible."

"You did?!" Azerion was shocked. "Then... how come am I still alive?"

Rean shrugged. "I also told you I’ve never gone back on my word before. Naturally, saving you and setting you free was my part of the deal, and I intended to see it through. That’s all."

Azerion took a deep breath. "Thank you..."

Arcis became curious about that conversation, though. "Power of the World? What is he talking about?"

Rean smiled in response. "Roan and I told you that there was a reason for us to agree to come with you to Woster, didn’t we? Well, that’s what we were looking for. It’s just that what Azerion calls the Power of the World, my companions and I call the Echo. In fact, there are countless names for it. Each Great Void probably has its own name."

"The Echo?" Arcis looked confused. "What’s that?"

"Did you forget our capabilities?" Rean pointed at himself and then at Roan, Celis, and Kentucky. "We told you before that our capabilities are because of something that we got from our Great Void, remember?"

"Of course!" Arcis nodded. How could he forget after seeing everything the twins had done despite their current cultivation level? "So you’re saying that this Echo, or Power of the World, was what gave you these advantages."

"Basically," Rean nodded. He wasn’t particularly worried about sharing a little more of what they knew now. They had access to their Great Void again, so their situation was considerably safer than before.

Arcis began to feel a headache coming on. "You also told us that you didn’t know if other ascenders from your Great Void would have the same capabilities. From what you just said, it seems like you actually did."

"Hehe!" Rean gave Arcis a thumbs-up. "You got me, Senior Arcis!"

"Motherfucker!" Arcis felt completely helpless. "You know what, forget it! I don’t want to know anymore! I’ll focus on my gains this time around. Yes, that’s it. I got a huge boost in my resistance against Godly Pressure. I’ll take this win and pretend you four don’t exist."

"So rude! Hahaha!" Rean said and laughed.

Unless the twins’ group silenced Azerion, he would eventually tell Arcis and the others about the Power of the World anyway. That was why Rean had decided to explain it himself. Of course, at no point did Rean mention the Orb System, which remained the most important part of everything the twins’ group could do. That secret was still far too valuable to casually reveal.

"That’s enough." Roan took over at that point. "Azerion, do you know of any other Teleport Arrays that are still intact? Or do you think all the Teleport Arrays were destroyed now that Woster lost the sealed space and the pillars?"

Azerion thought for a moment. "The Teleport Arrays should be fine. I don’t know anything about the ancient runes, but I do know they weren’t connected to the sealed space. They were just that: Teleport Arrays. Let me think..."

Azerion went silent for a moment before speaking again. "Right. There are three of those arrays that I know are still in workable condition and that can teleport you out. There are probably more, but I didn’t pay much attention to them during my time down there. Anyway, one of them is the one I told you about, the one inside Dlaval, in the south."

"The second one was the Teleport Array where you arrived in Woster."

"The last one is in the Woster Guarding Grounds. I don’t think it’s a good idea to return there now."

Kentucky shook his head. "The Woster Guarding Grounds should have collapsed completely by now. Even if we could avoid the Rosvelt Sect’s experts, there’s no way that array is still intact under all the rubble."

"It collapsed?" That was the first time Azerion had heard about it. "Right... the pillar was destroyed, and so was the sealed space. I guess it makes sense that it collapsed. Well, then there are only those two that I know about."

Roan nodded. "Very well. We’ll use the array inside Dlaval, then. The one we used to come to Woster should be under even more protection now, so that one is out of the question."

"That reminds me." Celis looked at Azerion. "What will you do now? Are you staying in Woster?"

Thery immediately intervened. "I need you to come with me."
