Chapter 4224: Default’s Performance

Back in the Lisan Universe...

*Zush, zush, zush...*

Rean and the others suddenly appeared in Rean’s residence. They looked around, and with that, they confirmed that the entire Great Void has indeed become their Dimensional Realm. They could appear and disappear from anywhere they wanted.

"Alright..." Rean spoke. "I can simply focus on the Werdlem Universe. Let me see..."

Rean closed his eyes, and just like when they bought the highest level of the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm upgrade, Rean felt like he could see everything he wanted. In just a second, his senses already entered the Werdlem Imperial Dimensional Realm, reaching the palace where Fila lived. "Yeap! I can see her!"

Roan agreed with him on the side. "So can I." He opened his eyes, looking at Default. "We can bring her out anytime we want."

Default nodded. "Then just follow the plan. Let’s see if I would turn out to be a good actor."

Soul Gem was working on something else when Default contacted him. ’Gem, I need to tell you something.’

Soul Gem was finally told that Fila was alive and that she was back in the Werdlem Universe. As one can imagine, Soul Gem didn’t want to wait. He quickly turned around, preparing to go after her. Default, obviously, didn’t just let him do as he pleased. "Wait right there, idiot."

"But!" Soul Gem truly thought she had been dead. "She is being held there!"

"And what will you do?" Default asked back. "Invade Soza’s palace and hope he will let you leave? He will kill you before you can even get to the Werdlem Universe. There is a reason I took so long to tell you, and why I told everyone not to speak about this. Because I knew you would try something. There is no need to worry, though. I already prepared something to help you with her."

Soul Gem’s eyes lit up. "Really?! Thank you, Master! Do you need help with anything?"

"First, you must not tell anyone about what I’m about to do, even your fellow disciples, nor the other Primordial Demon Beasts. Not even the twins’ group can know about it. You will have to convince Fila to keep quiet about it since I will be using it to bring the girl out, so I can’t hide it from her. Do you understand me? I’m only doing it for you because you did well to help free me," Default explained.

Soul Gem had to admit he got curious, but he didn’t ask and simply accepted the conditions. "Yes, Master! Your disciple will bring it to his grave!"

"Good! Come with me." Default touched Gem’s shoulder, and the two disappeared.

Soul Gem was taken aback. By the time things returned to normal, they were already outside the Lisan Universe. "This... Master, did you recover your strength? This was truly fast..."

"No," Default shook his head. "This has nothing to do with my strength, but my control over The Echo. I was keeping this in case things went south in the Werdlem Empire, but since the plan worked in the end, there is no need to save it anymore."

Following that, a huge amount of energy gathered around Default, and Soul Gem could feel the tiny bit of power of The Echo, which he knew his master could always use. So far, he wasn’t seeing anything new.

"Haaaaa!" Default shouted, punched forward, and out of nowhere, space contorted around his fist. It was as if Default’s hand had entered the fabric of space, but at the same time not, and Soul Gem couldn’t see where it went. Yet, a second later.

*Ghyaaa!*

A female scream followed. Default pulled his hand out, and it wasn’t empty. Instead, he was holding someone’s clothes... Fila’s clothes... and she was inside! "What is happening?!"

"What?!" Soul Gem was just as shocked. However, his attention quickly turned to Fila there. "F-Fila!"

"Uh?!" Fila was completely lost. A second ago, she was on a chair in her residence. In the next second, she felt herself being dragged away, and was pulled here. She even thought her father was dragging her somewhere again for a second. "Ah! Soul Gem!"

For a moment, they didn’t move, but that moment didn’t last long. Finally, they ignored everything else and couldn’t help but embrace each other. But then, their minds returned to Default. "Wait, what was that just now?!"

Default ’looked’ extremely weak, as if he would disappear at any moment. "Several eons of accumulation, gone, just like that..."

"It’s truly Default..." Fila saw Hick and the others before, but she hadn’t seen Default since the Bubble was created.

Default faintly smiled. "I have been accumulating a tiny, tiny bit of The Echo’s power during all these years. This power I accumulated was different from the one you guys know I can use. I made it mine. Still, the amount I had accumulated that was really mine was far from enough to escape my prison in BH1. Fortunately, it was enough to penetrate the Werdlem Imperial Dimensional Realm and pull Fila out of there."

"Sigh..." Default seemed to sit in the void. "Even if it was such a tiny amount that I could make mine, it definitely drained me completely to employ it. Now I’m back to my normal self, who can only control a little bit of The Echo around, but this one isn’t mine, as always."

Soul Gem couldn’t help but get a little emotional. "Master..."

Fila wasn’t certain of many things, but she got the gist of it. "Senior Default, you did that for me..."

"Not you," Default corrected her. "I did it for Soul Gem. So, you’d better make sure you won’t let this chance escape. Soza will surely go mad once he notices you disappeared from the Imperial Dimensional Realm. Next time, I won’t be able to drag you out. You have no idea just how many eons it takes to make that tiny bit of The Echo’s power mine, just to use it all in a few seconds."

Fila squeezed Soul Gem’s hand. Everything happened just too fast, but reality was it. "U-Understood. Father will certainly come looking for me again, though. He can track me down."

"He can’t," Default assured. "I also removed the tracker from you when I pulled you out. He can’t find you unless you let the information escape. At that point, you can only blame yourself, you included, Soul Gem."

"Yes, Master!" Soul Gem made up his mind to protect Fila this time.

"Good." Default finally got up. "Let’s go back to Lisan."

At the same time, Default was talking to Rean and Roan. ’How was my performance?’

Rean was having a great time in his residence. He had been laughing nonstop as he watched all of that. ’That was really, really bad! Hahaha! I can’t believe they fell for it at all!’

’They didn’t,’ Roan commented. ’But they weren’t willing to ask either, so who cares?’

’Hahaha!’ That only made Rean laugh even more.

Sure enough, Default did none of that shit. It was all Rean and Roan!
