Death... and me

Chapter 3816: Won’t Tell You

Chapter 3816: Won’t Tell You

"Gladly!" Rebarlo quickly passed the calice to Rean, not even asking what the price would be.

"Hmph!" Rean took it and sent it into the Dimensional Realm. "Wait here." Finally, he entered it as well.

Inside, Rean, Zangeshu, and Tanxan were looking at it.

"So... are we really fixing this shit? Can’t we simply steal it from Rebarlo?" Tanxan stated the obvious. "He thinks he has a similar strength to you, but the truth is that you can trash him easily. There isn’t really a reason to hear his demands. Just take him down."

Rean shook his head in response. "That is not your average Joe. If he went this far, he definitely has some cards hidden. That isn’t a problem, though. My only objective is to make sure he won’t kill innocents to fill this thing with power."

Zangeshu glanced at Rean, seeing the faint smile on his face. "Master, you can’t fool anyone. You totally want to see just what Rebarlo is going to use this key for."

"Hahaha!" Rean nodded vigorously. "But of course! The guy dared to blackmail me. Do you really think I wouldn’t get back at him?"

[We only have two or three more days until Lembru arrives. What are you gonna do? Ignore the trade and follow Rebarlo?]

Rean pondered a bit. "For now, I’m only leaving a nice tracker that he absolutely won’t be able to detect. Zangeshu, Tanxan, give me a hand. This thing is very intricate, and I will need you two to make this thing work again in time."

Zangeshu clacked his fingers. "This is the kind of thing my precision will make a difference. Leave the fine details to me."

"Good!" Rean and Tanxan nodded, and the trio quickly started to work.

The job wasn’t that easy, though. That calice was truly a piece of delicate equipment, or a key, for that matter. Now and then, Sister Orb’s voice echoed outside the Dimensional Realm, in the room where Rebarlo waited. She simply said Rean, or Reqsan, was still working on it.

A day or so went by before the trio finally finished putting the calice back together. The work wasn’t perfect, but the runes were connected again. Pouring some Divine Energy inside, the calice activated, and a suction power appeared. Naturally, that was the power to absorb dead souls, so it could transform into Death Energy.

"A very good job, if I say so myself," Zangeshu spoke, feeling quite happy. The calice’s inscriptions were at a very high level, Divine at the very least. He might not be able to craft Runes at that level, but he was close and could definitely work with them. For him, this was the kind of experience he loved most.

Rean took it, smiling again. "No one would ever expect this calice to be able to work as a Werdlem Empire Communication Device. After all, you need a Werdlem Stone Signature, which you only find on the experts themselves, not on the devices. This tracker is absolutely undetectable. Hahaha!"

Tanxan sighed while seeing it. Then, he looked at Sister Orb. That processing power and especially the system’s ability to copy signatures were truly incredible. "You guys could very well take that corrupt system, help me clean it, and give it to me. This system thing is just too good."

Rean shrugged. "Our system came with a Sister Orb app that we can’t uninstall, remember?"

Tanxan changed his mind almost instantly. "Forget it. I’m fine without one."

[You know what, you two can go fuck yourselves!]

"Hahaha!" Tanxan and Rean laughed out loud.

Then, Rean took the calice and left, once again appearing in the restaurant’s room. A business of this size was open all day and night, so there was no risk of it closing while Rean was working.

Seeing Rean again, Rebarlo sighed in relief. "Even though I knew it would take some time, I was still nervous you would find a way to flee. Well, that would have been a very bad idea, trust me."

Rean kept his smile, ignoring the threat completely. "Here you go."

He threw the calice as if it were nothing important, making Rebarlo’s heart almost jump out of his mouth. The guy flashed from his position, catching the calice in an instant. "Please don’t do that anymore, okay?"

Rean would totally do it again if he could. "Whatever. Now, about my payment. You didn’t even ask what I wanted."

Rebarlo put the calice away, paying attention. "As long as it is something I can accomplish, you will receive."

"Good!" Rean already knew what to ask.

As Rean worked on the calice, he had Sister Orb look for information about Rebarlo. With Xenfal’s Class Seven Light Propagator ID, she could use the Werdlem Network again without worrying about looking suspicious.

Rebarlo was actually from a Rank C Universe, C42, to be more specific. From what she found out, he truly seemed to have come here because he could get as many souls as he wanted without anyone complaining, and that was especially so due to his position there.

But while she checked his information, she also found the region and clan he came from. Naturally, she passed that information to Rean, who understood something interesting.

"Rebarlo Istfal, the son of Cornel Istfal, the C42 Universe Owner himself. What I want from you is very simple. I want a slot so I can use the Great Void Black Hole."

Rebarlo’s expression changed from relief to utter shock. "Y-You! How did you know that about me?!"

Rean faintly smiled. "Let’s be honest, you left a few clues behind. We are both Space-Time Realm Experts, and yet, you seemed absolutely certain you could make me pay if I tried something. Now, how could that be? You must have some higher background. Using that principle, I checked a few things. Of course, I didn’t expect your background to be this impressive, but it is also good for me."

"That information should still not be available for just anyone!" Rebarlo countered.

"Isn’t that obvious?" Rean’s smile increased, patting Rebarlo’s shoulder. Then, the smile changed into a mocking expression. "Do you really think you are the only person in this Universe with a nice background? My people might not match yours, but we have our means."

"This..." Rebarlo went silent. Yes, that could be the only explanation possible. Otherwise, he shouldn’t have been able to find his true identity...

Well, Rean didn’t, Sister Orb did... after using Rebarlo’s own Werdlem Stone Signature! Rean was not going to tell him that.
