Death... and me

Chapter 3708: Leading

Chapter 3708: Leading

The hotel was soon invaded, several hundred experts rushing in from the air and the ground. They went straight to the twins’ room... which turned out to be completely empty.

In another room, just two floors below, a man watched everything above with a leisure expression. At some point, the experts invading the hotel came into his room.

"W-What is this? What do you want?" The man asked, now seemingly terrified of the situation.

One of the guys stepped forward. He took out a device, pointing it at the man in front. A quick reading was made, and after checking it, the invader lost interest in the room’s owner. Still, he pulled out a picture, which showed a Demon Beast in humanoid form. "Have you seen this guy?"

The man looked at that, shaking his head. "Sorry, sir. I’ve been in the hotel cultivating for the past few weeks. May I know what is happening?"

The invader guy looked at the man closely, examining him with his Divine Sense. In the end, he shook his head and turned around to leave. "It’s none of your business. However, if you see the guy in the picture, contact the Vodel Sect through the Werdlem Network. There will be quite a big reward if your information turns out to be correct."

The experts left, closing the door behind. There were still many of them barging into all the rooms in the hotel, looking for their target.

Meanwhile, in the room where the man was left, he took the picture passed to him, looking into it. Well, in fact, there were quite a few more of those pictures, all showing the same guy. The man in the room wasn’t the only one looking at the pictures, though. Inside the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm, everyone looked at the same pictures. Why? Because that man in the room was none other than Rean!

After they found out the hotel was going to be invaded, Kentucky returned to the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm while Rean stayed outside. He quickly spread his Divine Sense and soon found some of the hotel guests.

His cultivation was actually much higher than that of everyone surrounding the hotel, so it was very easy for Rean to move without anyone noticing him. He knocked out the man from the rooms below, threw him into the Dimensional Realm, and used his Body Transformation Technique to impersonate him. The Werdlem ID was also easy to copy thanks to the Celestial Soul System.

Inside the Dimensional Realm, Kentucky had a weird expression. "Why are they looking for me?"

The pictures were from the city’s security cameras and surveillance formations. They all had Kentucky on focus.

Rean walked out of the room, pretending to be concerned with something. Of course, considering the cultivation of the experts around, he actually could escape any time he wanted. ’These guys won’t answer us, so we’d better get outside and ask those who left the hotel as well.’

Of those experts invading the hotel, quite a few asked Rean to stop before they used their devices to check his Werdlem ID. After confirming he had no relation to their target, they simply let him go.

Outside, Rean joined a few other experts who watched the situation at the hotel. He took the chance to approach one of them, asking. "Sorry, friend. I was just thrown out of my room, and it seems like the same for you. Do you know what is happening?"

The guy looked at Rean, his expression cold. "And why the hell are you asking me?"

Rean faintly smiled, passing a Spatial Ring to the man. "Because we are friends, aren’t we?"

The man checked the contents of the Spatial Ring with his Divine Sense, and his eyes lit up. "Hahaha! But of course! If you have any more questions, you can also ask old Bakon here. That’s what friends are for."

He continued. "Seems like you have been out of the loop for a while, am I correct?"

Rean confirmed. "Yes. I’ve been in seclusion for quite a few hundred years, and only recently did I come out. I was in a critical moment of my cultivation. Fortunately, I managed to break through."

"Oh!" Bakon patted Rean’s shoulder. "So you are a new Void Tempering Realm expert, uh? Congratulations."

Bakon then looked at the hotel. "Anyway, they also showed you the picture of that Demon Beast in humanoid form, right?" Rean nodded and waited for the man to continue. "Take a close look. Can you see his Black and White Feather features?"

Kentucky also carried his Minokawa features when in humanoid form. Unless, of course, if he changes his appearance with Rean’s Body Transformation Technique, which he didn’t since he didn’t think he needed to do that here.

"These are features of a Divine Demon Beast called Minokawa. It’s not exactly new, but this race has risen to power in the past few thousand years in the Demon Beast world. Of course, for us, it mattered little... until the big war started," the man explained.

"You mean the war to become the next power in charge of the Universe, right?" Rean asked back, just to confirm.

"So you aren’t completely oblivious," Bakon nodded. "That same war. The Minokawa Race is leading the Demon Beasts side in the bid to become the next power in charge. So, out of nowhere, a Minokawa appears in this city. It obviously was caught by the many surveillance formations and cameras. Naturally, a bunch of guys were sent to confirm Minokawa’s reason for appearing here. Well, truth be told, chances are this guy isn’t really a Minokawa, but just some other Demon Bast race with similar features. That’s the gist of it."

’Did you hear that?’ Rean asked inside the Dimensional Realm. ’Do you believe this?’

"Not at all!" Kentucky immediately shook his head. "We, Minokawas, are lazy as fuck! We are really proud of our laziness! There is no way we would get involved in all this war shit unless absolutely necessary. Not only that, Bakon also said that we are leading the Demon Beasts? Ha! That is even more ridiculous! We hate leading anything!"

Roan, Celis, Sister Orb, and Zangeshu couldn’t agree more. "Our thoughts exactly."
