Chapter 97 Character Concept and Design: Vivienne Laurent
"I gave Vivienne a beauty that is both a gift and a curse. Men want her. Women envy her. But her beauty has also made her a target—for warlords, for traffickers, for anyone who sees a beautiful woman as something to be owned. The same face that makes people trust her also makes her vulnerable. I wanted her design to capture that contradiction: the aristocratic elegance that commands respect, and the physical desirability that invites predation. She is beautiful—but her beauty has cost her. That tension is at the heart of her design."
I gave her a design that tells a story. The golden hair—the Laurent bloodline's pride. The captain's uniform—a role she inherited, not one she chose. The lioness pin—Chen's gift, representing the family she found. The loosened collar—A sex goddess forced into a captain’s uniform. When you see Vivienne, you are seeing a woman in transition—not from one thing to another, but from appearance to truth.
As the story continues, her design will evolve. The perfect uniform will become more practical. The aristocratic posture will become more human. She is not becoming less beautiful—she is becoming more real.
The perfect woman was never real. The woman beneath the mask is more interesting, more broken, and more human than the ideal ever was. That’s the Vivienne I want readers to see—the symbol who is learning to be a person.
