Dawn Experiment
Chapter 75
#Day 20 — 22:45
The quarantine holding cells were at the far end of F-deck, past the storage lockers and the decontamination chamber and the thick steel door that separated the ship's living spaces from its unwanted cargo. Aida had only been here once before, when the twelve prisoners from Stavros's ship had first been brought aboard. She hadn't lingered.
Today, the corridor hummed with a different kind of tension.
Victoria stood at the far end, arms crossed, her bandaged form blocking access to the last cell. Beside her, Iqbal was hunched over her tablet, her face illuminated by its glow, her eyes never leaving whatever was visible through the small porthole in the cell door.
Neither of them noticed Aida approach. That was the first clue that something was wrong.
Aida cleared her throat. Victoria glanced back, then jerked her chin toward the porthole. Iqbal didn't even look up—just gestured with her free hand for Aida to come closer, to look, to see.
Aida stepped up to the glass.
Through the porthole, Aida's breath caught.
The woman on the bed moved like water—like something that had never learned to be still. Her body undulated in slow, rolling waves, each one building on the last, cresting toward something Aida could feel in her own chest without understanding why.
She was beautiful in a way that defied easy category. Her face was feminine—full lips, high cheekbones, dark hair cascading past her shoulders. But there was something else there too. A strength to the jawline that was stronger than purely feminine. A cut to the cheekbones that read almost masculine in certain angles. The overall effect was disorienting, compelling, impossible to look away from. She looked like a beautiful boy. Or a handsome girl. Someone who would turn heads regardless of who was looking.
Her body was lean—not soft like the Oasis women, not heavy like a man's, but something in between. Muscle definition visible along her arms, her stomach, the curve of her waist, but all of it slender, graceful, designed. Like a dancer's body, if dancers were engineered rather than trained. The only softness was where it mattered—her breasts, full and round, heavy on her lean frame, the nipples dark and prominent against pale skin.
One hand cupped her breast, fingers kneading the soft flesh with a practiced rhythm. Her lips wrapped around her own nipple, suckling, drawing, drinking. The sight of it—self-sufficient, self-pleasuring, needing nothing and no one—sent a strange heat through Aida's veins. The nipple was large, the areola textured with tiny bumps that caught the light, and the woman's tongue moved across it in slow, deliberate circles that Aida could almost feel.
The woman's other hand moved lower, between her legs, where something was happening that Aida couldn't quite process.
What began as a clitoris—swollen, prominent, beautiful in its own right—began to change. To grow. To lengthen. Aida watched, transfixed, as it became something else entirely. Not a penis—not exactly. There was no hood, no foreskin, nothing to hide what it was. Just smooth, glistening tissue, dark with blood, twitching with each stroke of her fingers. It rose from where a clitoris should be, proud and erect, the shaft slick with moisture, the head visible and sensitive.
Below it, clearly visible, a vaginal entrance, wet and waiting, glistening in the dim light. The lips were full, parted, pink against her olive skin. As the woman's fingers worked her strange organ, they would occasionally dip lower, sliding into that waiting heat, disappearing inside her, then emerging slick and shining.
Aida's hand pressed against the glass before she realized she'd moved it. Her skin tingled where it touched the cold surface. Between her thighs, a warmth she hadn't invited stirred to life.
What the hell was that?
She'd seen everything in her career. Genital reassignments of every type. Surgical constructions that looked nothing like their natural counterparts. Even, on one ill-advised project, a menagerie of animal prosthetics.
This was different.
This was the most obscene thing she'd ever seen.
And she couldn't look away.
The woman's fingers worked in a rhythm that seemed almost hypnotic—efficient, practiced, perfect. Her mouth never left her breast. Her body moved in waves, building toward something, climbing, cresting. Between her legs, that strange organ twitched and pulsed, growing even more erect, the head dark and glistening. Below it, her vagina clenched around nothing, wet and hungry.
Beyond it, barely visible in the shadow between her cheeks, Aida caught a glimpse of her other entrance—tight, pink, untouched in this moment, but present. Complete.
Aida's mouth went dry.
The woman's back arched. Her thighs clenched. Her free hand left her breast and joined the other between her legs, one stroking that impossible organ, two fingers plunging into her vagina, and—
And then—
Her whole body seized. Her mouth opened in a sound that didn't quite make it through the glass, but Aida felt it anyway, felt it in her own throat, her own chest, her own clenched thighs.
Milk sprayed from her breasts in fine white arcs, catching the light like scattered pearls. The nipples, dark and hard, released stream after stream that painted her stomach, her thighs, the sheets beneath her.
From between her legs, fluid gushed—not just from her vagina, but from that strange, beautiful, terrible organ as well. A stream of ejaculate pulsed from its tip, clear and glistening, while her vagina released its own flood, soaking the sheets in a dark stain that spread like spilled wine.
Once. Twice. Three times.
Her whole body convulsed with each pulse, her stomach tightening, her thighs quaking, her back arched so sharply Aida thought she might break.
Aida's own body pulsed in answer.
She couldn't help it. Couldn't stop it. The woman's pleasure reached through the glass and touched something in her that had nothing to do with watching. Her nipples had tightened against her bra, so sensitive now that the fabric felt rough. Between her legs, a damp warmth pooled that had nothing to do with the corridor's temperature. She could feel her own pulse there, rhythmic and insistent, demanding attention she refused to give.
She clenched her thighs together, furious at her own body's betrayal.
But the damage was done. The image was inside her now—that arching back, that silent scream, that impossible triple release. The sight of those dark nipples streaming milk. That strange, beautiful organ pulsing with ejaculate. That hungry vagina clenching around nothing. That tight rosebud hidden in shadow, waiting.
It would live in her memory whether she wanted it or not.
Whether she wanted it.
The question echoed, and Aida didn't have an answer.
Victoria let out a low whistle. "Well. That's not something you see every day."
Aida ignored her. She forced herself to breathe slowly, evenly, to will her body back under control. She turned to Iqbal, grateful for the clinical distraction.
"Have you ever seen anything like that?"
Iqbal shook her head slowly. "I've seen photographs of hermaphroditic anatomy in medical journals. This is... different." She tapped her tablet, bringing up notes. "The structures are too refined. Too... purposeful. The muscle definition, the breast development, the—" She paused, searching for the right word. "Everything about her suggests surgical and genetic enhancement."
"How much enhancement?"
"I won't know until I run full tests." Iqbal paused. "But given what we just witnessed? Significant. She's been designed."
Victoria grinned. "Designed. That's one word for it. I've got a few others."
Aida kept watching through the glass. The woman—girl, really, she couldn't be more than twenty—lay still now, her chest rising and falling in the aftermath. Her body was beautiful in the way expensive things were beautiful: designed, perfected, purpose-built. Every curve, every muscle, every sensitive inch of her had been planned by someone, engineered for maximum effect.
The lean arms. The defined stomach. The full, heavy breasts that seemed almost disproportionate on her slender frame. The dark nipples, still wet with milk. The strange organ, now softening, retreating back to something that looked almost like a normal clitoris. The glistening evidence of her climax still visible between her thighs.
Something about that deliberate perfection made Aida's skin crawl even as her body remembered its unwanted response.
"How often?" she asked.
Iqbal understood. "Every two to three hours. She's like..." She trailed off, searching for the right word.
"A machine," Victoria supplied.
"Yes." Iqbal nodded. "A machine. But watch this."
She pulled up a chart on her tablet—a graph showing Dawn Meter readings over the past forty-eight hours. The line moved in waves, rising and falling by one or two percent, but never climbing. Never truly threatening.
Aida stared at the numbers, grateful for something to focus on besides the heat still lingering between her legs. "She's treating herself."
"Almost as good as immune," Iqbal confirmed. "Whatever her body produces during arousal—during orgasm—it suppresses the virus. She's maintaining around ten percent."
Ten percent. Lower than anyone on the ship except Zhao.
Aida's mind raced, professional calculation warring with visceral unease. If this woman could be integrated into the treatment protocol, if her abilities were real, if she could be trusted—
If. If. If.
Too many ifs.
But also: She lactates. She produces suppressant. She could help.
The memory of those dark nipples streaming milk flashed through Aida's mind unbidden. She pushed it away.
"I want to talk to her," Aida said.
Victoria and Iqbal exchanged a glance. Then, slowly, both nodded.
They knocked. A formality—the woman had surely heard them outside, seen their shadows through the frosted glass. But knocking felt important. A gesture of... something. Respect, maybe. Or the illusion of it.
The woman's voice came through the door, soft and melodic, with an accent that carried the warmth of the Mediterranean. "Come in."
They entered.
The smell hit Aida first.
Not unpleasant—the opposite, really. Something warm and complex, layered in ways she couldn't immediately parse. Rich sandalwood underneath, yes, but also something brighter—bergamot, maybe—and beneath that, a note so subtle it was almost invisible: salt, like sea air, like skin warmed by sun, like the faint musk of arousal.
It was the kind of scent that made you want to lean closer, breathe deeper, stay.
Aida had encountered pheromone enhancements before, in her industry. This was different. This was... engineered.
She forced herself to step back, to breathe through her mouth, to think clearly.
Even her smell is a weapon.
The woman sat cross-legged on the bed, naked, unashamed. Up close, her body was even more striking. The lean muscle Aida had observed through the glass was visible in every line—the defined curve of her calves, the subtle quadriceps of her thighs, the flat stomach with its hint of abdominal definition. But her breasts were full and soft in contrast, heavy on her chest, the nipples still dark and slightly wet from her climax. Between her legs, that strange organ had retreated to something that looked almost normal—a prominent clitoris, still slightly swollen, nestled above the full lips of her vagina. Below that, in the shadow where her thighs met, Aida could see the tight pucker of her other entrance, pink and delicate.
Her dark hair fell in waves past her shoulders. Her skin was olive, smooth, flawless. Her eyes—electric blue, striking against her complexion—were fixed on Aida with an intensity that felt almost physical.
But it was the expression in those eyes that gave Aida pause. The dilated pupils. The flushed skin. The particular glaze—she'd seen it a thousand times on sets, in green rooms, at after-parties where the wrong person handed out the wrong pills.
The telltale look of someone riding a chemical wave not of their choosing.
Aida turned to Iqbal. "She's high."
Iqbal nodded, already tapping her tablet. "On her own biology. We've found no trace of external compounds. Her body produces something—we're still analyzing—that creates this state continuously."
"Continuous?" Aida stared at the woman on the bed. "She's like this all the time?"
"The readings suggest peaks and valleys. She's approaching a peak now." Iqbal's voice was clinical, but her eyes held something else. "Whatever she says in the next hour... take it with that context."
Aida filed that away and turned back to the woman.
Who was smiling now. A slow, knowing, inviting smile that played across those full lips.
"Akari Aida," she said. The name rolled off her tongue like honey. "I've watched your work."
Aida stiffened. Her full stage name. Not many people used it anymore.
The woman's smile widened. "You were very good. Especially the later stuff—the mature woman roles. Underrated, really. The industry never knew what to do with actresses who actually had talent."
Victoria snorted. "Smooth. Real smooth."
Aida ignored her. "Who are you?"
"Someone who knows more about this ship than you might think." The woman shifted on the bed, crossing her legs, making no effort to cover herself. The movement drew Aida's eyes despite herself—the way her thighs pressed together, the flash of pink between them, the lean muscle of her calf.
She looked away.
"Did you know that Blanc tried to acquire me?" the woman continued. "Before the pandemic. Before everything."
Aida felt her stomach tighten.
"The bid came up short." The woman's voice was light, almost amused. "A few hundred million. He couldn't quite reach it. Ended up settling for you instead." She tilted her head, studying Aida with those electric blue eyes. "How's he treating you?"
The words hit like a physical blow.
How's he treating you.
As if Aida were property. As if her entire existence on this ship was defined by a dead man's valuation.
The memory rose unbidden: the underage girls. Clinging to her after parties, eyes wide and hollow, asking if it would always hurt. The ones who never spoke at all. The ones who disappeared.
She had never touched them. Never trained them. Never done what she was supposed to do. Instead, she'd held them, whispered to them, let them cry against her shoulder until they had no tears left. She'd thought about quitting every single day. But those girls—those broken, frightened children—kept her there. They needed someone. She couldn't abandon them to whatever came next.
Her agent's voice echoed from somewhere deep in memory: "You're lucky they want you at all. At your age? Be grateful."
And now this woman, this girl, was asking how Blanc was treating her.
Aida's hands curled into fists.
The woman—Alexis—seemed to sense the shift. Her smile faltered, just for a moment.
"I'm sorry," she said. "Did I say something wrong?"
Victoria laughed—a short, sharp sound. "Oh, you're in trouble now. That woman? She's the most important person on this ship to the only person who matters."
Aida shot her a look. Victoria shrugged, unrepentant.
The woman on the bed—Alexis—tilted her head again, studying Aida with new interest. "You have a relationship with the vector."
It wasn't a question.
Aida didn't answer.
Alexis nodded slowly, as if confirming something to herself. Then she straightened, her posture shifting from seductive to something almost... professional. The movement made her breasts shift, heavy and full, and Aida caught herself noticing again—the weight of them, the dark nipples, the way they moved independently on her lean frame.
She forced her eyes up to Alexis's face.
"My name is Alexis Constantine," she said. "And I think—I hope—you're going to need me."
She waited. Aida said nothing.
"One hundred people," Alexis continued. "That's what you have on this ship, yes? Close to a hundred?"
Iqbal glanced at her tablet. "Seventy-eight survivors. Twelve prisoners in holding." She looked up. "Ninety total."
Alexis waved a hand. "Close enough. The math doesn't change." She leaned forward, her eyes intense despite the drug-haze. The movement brought her closer, and Aida caught another wave of that engineered scent—sandalwood and bergamot and something deeper, something that made her think of skin on skin, of sheets tangled after, of mornings when you didn't want to move.
She forced herself to breathe through her mouth. To think. To remember why she was here.
But her body had its own memory, and it wasn't listening.
"One untrained vector cannot treat ninety people," Alexis said. "It's not possible. The numbers don't work. You need me."
Aida found her voice. "Need you for what?"
"Treatment." Alexis said it simply, as if it were obvious. She touched her own skin, a slow, deliberate gesture that drew Aida's eyes to her hand, to the lean muscle of her arm, to the curve of her breast. "I was designed for pleasure. My body produces natural aphrodisiacs—compounds that trigger hormonal responses similar to your sex drugs. The more aroused I am, the more potent the effect." Her hand drifted lower, across her stomach, toward her thigh. "And I can express them through every fluid, every gland. Sweat. Saliva." She touched her lips, parted them slightly. "Milk." Her hand cupped her breast, and Aida watched a bead of milk form at the dark nipple, hang there, then slowly trail down the curve. "Vaginal fluid." Her hand drifted lower still, between her legs, and when it emerged, her fingers were glistening. "Semen." She held up her hand, let them see the evidence of her body's design. "Even just skin contact—my pheromones work through the pores."
The silence that followed was absolute.
Aida's mouth was dry. Between her legs, that unwanted warmth had returned. She could feel her own pulse there, steady and insistent.
It's just chemistry, she told herself. Just engineering. It doesn't mean anything.
But her body didn't care about meaning.
Iqbal recovered first. "That's... extraordinary. If true."
"It's true." Alexis's confidence didn't waver. She licked her own fingers, slow and deliberate, and Aida watched her tongue move, watched her eyes flutter half-closed at her own taste. "Test me. Take samples. Run your diagnostics. I'll wait." She smiled—that same inviting smile, but with something sharper underneath. "Or, if you want proof faster..."
Her gaze drifted to Aida. Those electric blue eyes, dilated and hungry, traveled slowly down Aida's body and back up. The look was almost physical, a caress Aida could feel on her skin.
"I'm sure you wouldn't mind," Alexis murmured. "Considering what we are."
Aida's voice was ice. "What we are?"
Alexis's expression flickered—confusion, maybe, or surprise that she had to explain. "Playthings. For the rich. That's what we were made for, you and me. Different methods, same result." She gestured at herself, at her engineered body, at the milk still beading on her nipple, at the glistening evidence of her arousal on her fingers. "They built me to be consumed. You—they just had to find the right price."
The word hit like a slap. Playthings.
Aida's first instinct was to correct her. To explain the difference between choosing a career and being bought and sold. To list the awards, the director collaborations, the creative control she'd fought for in her later years. To say that she was more than that, better than that, done with that.
But the words died in her throat.
Because Alexis wasn't entirely wrong. She'd been consumed—her image, her body, her name itself—by an industry that saw her as product. The men who'd paid for private screenings. The producers who'd rewritten contracts when she tried to leave. Her agent's voice, always there: "You're lucky they want you at all."
And beneath the anger, beneath the denial, her body remembered. Remembered the way she'd learned to perform desire on cue. Remembered the muscle memory of a thousand scenes, a thousand positions, a thousand fake orgasms that paid the bills. Remembered the nights when the line between performance and reality blurred, when she wasn't sure anymore where the act ended and she began.
Plaything.
The word echoed in the space between her legs, and Aida hated herself for feeling it.
The wall slammed back into place.
That's not who I am anymore.
But the crack remained. She could feel it.
Iqbal stepped forward, her voice calm and professional. "We'll need to verify your claims. Blood work, fluid samples, controlled observation. If your abilities are as described, we'll discuss integration into the treatment protocol."
Alexis nodded, accepting this. But her eyes never left Aida.
"I meant what I said," she murmured. "You're going to need me. The math doesn't lie."
Aida turned and walked out.
Not ran—she wouldn't give Alexis the satisfaction of seeing her flee. But her pace quickened with each step, each corridor, each door between her and that cell. Between her and those electric blue eyes. Between her and the memory of those dark nipples streaming milk, that strange organ pulsing, that hungry vagina clenching, that tight rosebud waiting.
Between her and the unwanted truth of what her body had felt.
A monster, she thought. We brought a monster on board.
But that wasn't right either. Alexis wasn't the monster. The people who'd made her—the Commission, the elites, the whole rotten system that built playthings out of children—they were the monsters.
Alexis was just... what was left.
Like her.
Like all of them.
She burst through the door of the treatment suite.
Zhao looked up from the table, a book in his hands. Mei-Lin turned from the kitchenette, spatula mid-air. Vivienne rose from the window seat, her captain's face instantly giving way to something softer, more urgent.
Three faces. Three questions. No words needed.
Aida crossed to them—to Zhao's steady presence, to Mei-Lin's waiting arms, to Vivienne's watchful eyes. They surrounded her, held her, pulled her into their warmth.
Safe.
Home.
She pressed her face into Zhao's shoulder and breathed. His familiar scent—clean, simple, him—washed away the engineered perfume still clinging to her memory.
The monster could wait.
Right now, she had everything she needed.
