Chapter 27
Chapter 27: Thieves
Translator: Lonelytree
Hidden in my shadowy corner, I frowned. Who are these people? They don’t sound threatening at all. Regardless I’ll have to deal with them. It’s perfect that they have decided to split up. Since they’ve made this easy for me, I shan’t disappoint them.
I moved silently.
…
When I captured all the men, it was almost dawn. I tightened the rope on them and slapped a black tape over their mouths. They grumbled noisily but I ignored them.
In most movies, the villains died from giving too much monologue, I was not that kind of villain… Wait… Am I a villain?
I yawned and said, “I’m tired and sleepy. I’m going to bed. Make yourself at home.” I locked them inside an empty room. I had no idea what the room was for, but it was empty now. I put a sensor by the window even enough I was certain these men didn’t have the IQ to plan an escape.
I was up for most of the night so I needed to catch up on my sleep. My schedule for the next day was full so I better rested up while I had the time! I fell into bed and dropped into deep slumber.
…
I was woken up by a call. It was from Jing Ni. “Nan Xing, are you feeling better?” Jing Ni sounded so worried.
I was still in quite a daze so I answered, “I almost died.”
“What? Nan Xing, what happened? Are you at home or at the hospital? No, I’ll go see you now! Oh, 7th uncle says he’s coming too!”
I immediately bounced up in bed. This is bad!
I chuckled awkwardly, “Ni Ni, calm down. I’m fine, really. I dreamed that I was in danger. Ha ha. Don’t worry about me, I’m really fine!”
Jing Ni sighed in relief, “Then, how are you really doing now?”
Before I answered, an authoritative voice ordered, “Get on video call now!”
My heart skipped a beat. It was Jing Tian! Sweetness filled my heart. Jing Tian wanted to see me.
Jing Ni added, “That’s right, Nan Xing, let’s video call. Let us see you.”
No way! They’ll know I don’t have chickenpox then!
I immediately objected, “No, no. I have a giant pox on the tip of my nose. It hurts and itches.” Then I lowered my voice to a whisper, “Ni Ni, I look so ugly. I don’t even dare to look at myself in the mirror. Ni Ni, please help me protect my image.”
Jing Ni was a soft-hearted person. She immediately comforted me, “Okay, Nan Xing, don’t be sad, we won’t force a video call then. By the way, I’ve already asked Doctor Lin about this. He said chickenpox is extremely itchy but you shouldn’t scratch them because they will leave behind scars. Nan Xing, you mustn’t ruin your beautiful face with scars…”
“I promise you not to scratch them. I’ll have the maids tie my hands up. There is no way I’ll leave any scars on my face!” I promised Jing Ni.
“Okay! Nan Xing, I’ll help you collect your homework from your teacher when you’re not at school and I’ll send them to you. Because I don’t think Nan Yang will be collecting them for you!”
I gave a wet kiss on the phone, “Ni Ni, you’re the best! You’re so thoughtful. Help me tell teacher that even though I have the chickenpox, I will continue to study hard!”
Jing Tian, I’m sorry. You can hear me but you can’t see me yet!
After Jing Ni ended the call, I was in such a great mood I no longer felt sleepy.
I got out of bed and stretched. After taking a shower, I changed into a set of tracksuit. My mother looked very cool in the photo. I liked her style very much. So I went online and ordered a few of those sportswear for myself.
Then I checked the house inside and out to see if anything had been damaged by the intruders from last night.
Everything was in order and my breakfast take-out arrived.
I found a simple table, pulled out a chair and dragged them into the makeshift cell. I laid out my delicate breakfast, and sat down to eat.
The four men groaned and squirmed.
I ignored them and ate my breakfast. I scrolled through the news on my phone.
These four were no better than the ruffians who had ambushed me at school. They were quite easy to deal with. So I had to believe they were sent here by Nan Yang and her friends.
I ordered a bit too much from the take-out. I couldn’t finish them.
I stood up to stretched before walking over to the four holding a cup of soy milk. I looked down at them.
Their eyes followed my movement. Some of them looked at me with derision, others with pleas.
